Pokemon version sales

    I was reading the thread discussing how there are three games in every generation, and a post brought a question to mind.

    Which game did you buy, per applicable generation, and why?

    It seems to me that the better selling pokemon games are the ones where, in the manga, the protagonist was named after them. Coincidentally these are the ones that come first when listing the generation/series. (i.e red comes before blue)

    If you're like me and bought or had all of the games, then the question is

    which game did you buy FIRST, per applicable generation, and why?

    RBY- Red [The name came first and charizard was on the front, I HATE blastoise to this day]
    GSC - Silver [Lugia seemed cooler than Ho-Oh]
    RSE - Ruby [It seemed cooler]
    FRLG - Fire Red [Cooler, and first...]
    DPPT - Platinum [I didn't get a DS until this June, and Platinum comes in a few days, however I would have chosen Diamond, for pretty much the same reasons as the others]
     
    I have every single game except red only because I didn't know about the older games till way after I bought crystal and didn't see the need for so many out dated games.

    RBY- Yellow (It was the only older generation game I knew about at the time. If I had known about Red and Blue too I would have bought Red first)

    GSC - Gold (My parents just randomly bought it for me so I didn't have a say. I would have gotten Silver first if it was my choice)

    RSE - Sapphire (I got it first because its my birth stone)

    FRLG - Leafgreen (The store was sold out of Firered so I had to get Leafgreen first.)

    DPPT - (Diamond because I liked Dialga better at the time, although that has changed.)
     
    I have many of the games, but here is mine:

    RBY: (I got all of them from my cousins, and I can't remember which one I played first)
    GSC: Gold(Very first Pokemon Game that I ever played, but I kinda chose it randomly(I got this from the same exact cousins))
    RSE: Ruby(It's my birthstone, so I had to get this one)
    FRLG: Fire red(Just the one I wanted, nothing more nothing less)
    DPPt: Pearl(I have no idea why)
     
    I chose my games based on the version mascots (except in the first gen, when I chose based on the color). Coincidentally, I always took the "second" game in each generation (as well as the third game).

    G1--Blue and Yellow
    G2--Silver and Crystal
    G3--Sapphire, LeafGreen, Emerald

    I don't have any G4 games (because I don't have a DS), but I would have chosen Diamond. I may end up getting a DS to get the GS remakes, and if I do I will probably pick up Platinum.
     
    I've only owned red, gold, silver, crystal, sapphire, leaf green, and emerald.

    All of my games were gifts with the exception of emerald and crystal.
     
    I have all of them except Pearl

    GenI: Yellow because I got it with my GBC
    GenII: Silver because my mum bought it for me one day
    GenIII: Ruby since it looked cooler
    GenIII part 2: Leaf Green since Fire Red was sold out at the current time
    GenIV: Diamond, I didn't like the way Palkia looked on the cover at that time(still like Dialga more)
     
    I have all of the Pokemon games (generation wise) except for Diamond because back then in 2007, many people wanted to get Diamond (I think I was the only one out of my friends that chose Pearl) and I didn't want to be in the same category as those losers

    RBY: Yellow (technically, this was a present, so nothing)
    GSC: Crystal (again, a present... XD)
    RSE: Sapphire, then Emerald.
    FRLG: FireRed.
    DPPt: Platinum.
     
    For the first gen, my first game was Red. It was a gift so I had no choice.

    Second gen I got Silver, I asked for it since I was a huge fan of Lugia at the time.

    For the Hoenn games, I got Ruby since I preferred Groudon to Kyogre, and LeafGreen for the Kanto remakes since I like Venusaur the most of those starters.

    Finally, I got Diamond since I just like Dialga.
     
    RBY || Blue. It was gift, so I didn't get to choose. I wanted Red, though, since I liked Charizard. xD
    GSC || Crystal. I picked it out, and I rented Gold & Silver, but own neither one to this day.
    RSE || Ruby. It was a gift, but I picked it out at the same time. I got Emerald after it released, as well.
    FRLG || FireRed - hack version. My mom ordered it for me as a gift off ebay. Come to find out that it was a hacked, badly translated Japanese copy of the game. So I never played it very much. Later I picked up LeafGreen.
    DPPt || Pearl. Got it the day it released, but found it dull, and have still never beaten it. A few weeks ago I got Platinum, and I'm already on Battle Frontier. xD;
