Greetings, fellow Pokemon fans. I will be talking about a controversial topic therefore I would love this to be a just another (maybe interesting wich I doubt it) blog/thread to read. I am open to any discussion as long as it is friendly. Let's begin.

For those who may not be familiar with the terms waifumon and husbandomon, well, they are basically the equivalent of "waifu" and "husbando" but used to referred to both Pokemon and Digimon. Now, for those who may be wondering what "waifu" and "husbando" means, that is actually debatable since people may use this terms differently from others. "Waifu" is the transcription of the word "wife" in japanese and it's used to referred to people's personal most attractive female anime/cartoon/video game character. "husbando" is just the equivalent of "waifu" but of course used to refer to males. Personally, I have more than one waifumon and more than one husbandomon and it's kind of hard to choose a favorite.

Is there anything wrong with this? I say there is nothing wrong or right. Liking stuff as long as you don't hurt anyone else is not wrong. I think both people, those who like and those who dislike the idea of Poke waifus and husbandos can take the topic too seriously.

I know many people associate having a waifu/husbandomon with Pokephilia and even (laughably) to bestiallity, where the first term, pokephilia, may be truth for some people while bestiallity is a complete wrong term to use when some Pokemon, even as fictional creatures, may be based on animals but are not animals, not counting those who are not even based on animals. Pokemon are Pokemon.

What is Pokephilia? It's the abnormal lustful liking towards Pokemon, one of many kinds of paraphilia, and as I stated before, seeing a Pokemon as a waifu or husbando can mean that you are simply attracted to them or even just admire their beauty. Attraction doesn't have to be lustful, so not all waifumon/husbandomon enthusiasts like the term Pokephilia beig tied to what they see in Pokemon, specially when the term brings to mind many wrong images and conceptions.

People love Pokemon just as they love any other object, fictional characters or even just as they love people. Love is one of the most common feelings people experience, and I see no wrong in loving Pokemon, whether we see them as companions, pets or even lovers. Sometimes imagination is the only way to escape from reality; sometimes we go there just for fun. To love Pokemon we don't necessarily have to depend on imagination since we can just enjoy battling with them playing video games or appreciate them when we read the manga or watch the anime series. Waifumon and husbandomon enthusiasts are only a minority group of the fandom and it's logical and understandable.

Returning to our main topic, I want to clarify that seeing a Pokemon as a waifu or husbando doesn't necessarily mean that people feel sexual attraction towards them. Attraction is not only sexual. Personally, I cannot help but admire the beauty of some Pokemon. Gardevoir, Gallade, Loppuny, Gothitelle, Delphox... Game Freak has created some anthropomorphic Pokemon that some of us (yes, I include myself) cannot help but see them as more than just companions. Don't make me even start with the Sinnoh folk stories we could read in the Canalave Library, specifically the Sinnoh Folk Story 3 wich stated that there was a time when people and Pokemon were considered the same and they even married each other.

Game Freak just gave us a hint that Pokemon and people were just so similar (I say intelligence not only appearance) that they ended marrying each other. Saddly, the English version of the Pokemon D/P/Platinum versions changed that a bit completely omitting the "marriying" part but including: "...It was a time when there existed no differences to distinguish the two." Could it be that Game Freak wanted to please the minority of the Pokemon fandom that adores waifumon and husbandomon?

    Alolan waifumon/husbandomon

All 3 final stages of the Alola starters are potencial waifus and husbandos. Steene, Tsareena, Tapu Lele, Tapu fini, Lycanroc mid-night form, just to name a few more that are also potencial waifus/husbandos. Seems like Game Freak keeps creating anthro Pokemon and we fans don't complain.

What do you think about these topic? Do you think it's interesting? Do you feel indifferent?

    Thanks for reading!
