There's a lot of opinions regarding X and Y. Many opinions are conflicting and even though many people complain, I believe the game has done very good things, so in this thread, tell us what you liked most about the game!
Did you like the new Pokemon? If so, which one is your favorite? What new mechanics are you enjoying? If you have something which really disappointed you, feel free to point that out as well!
For me, I really enjoy the Pokemon-Amie. To be honest, I don't like playing the games but I love feeding and petting my Pokemon. The one part of it that's really great is that after you reach a certain amount of affection with your pokemon, you get extra perks in battle. Not only extra XP and Evasion chance, but your pokemon can sometimes shrug off status afflicting moves, saying things likes;
"Vivillon gathered its strength to break through the Paralysis so *trainer* wouldn't worry!"
I dunno, this is so amazing. You get increased critical chance and little hearts that come out of your pokmeon every so often as they "believe that *trainer* will come up with the best strategy!" Feels like I'm actually connected to my Pokemon and that they love me, instead of me being a ghost hand inputting commands. (Also, Decorating your pokemon's room/pokeball and having other pokemon visit is really cool. Feels like my pokemon don't just sit there, depressed, waiting for me to call on them.)
Another thing I liked quite alot was the amount of pokemon you could choose from. In previous games, you get like one or two pokemon in the beginning (Sentret/Hoothoot)...But in Pokemon Y, for the first time, I actually have a rotating team because I can't decide which one I want to keep.
The other thing I really adore the Trainer customization. I feel like a unique trainer with my own look! Everyone can create an avatar they can identify with!
Also, my favorite Pokemon so far? Malamar. Oh god. It is so, unbelievably cool. Something about it's proportion, color, cry...the way it lands when it comes out of the pokeball...
The ONE thing that disappointed me was Mega Evolution and the lack of new Pokemon. As a concept artist that's worked in games, I know how hard it actually is to build a game like this. If you think about it, it's a completely new game where they had to make every single resource from scratch. That means 700+ pokemon/environments/characters from *nothing*. They also had to make interesting and unique animations for each pokemon and that can take forever.Unlike the previous 2d games, they couldn't take resources from their predecessors and just modify them...
That being said though, I sort of feel like we could have gone without Mega Evolutions and could have gotten 10-15 more new pokemon. Not that Megas aren't freaking cool though.
Anyways, that's mine!
