    I grew up with Pokémon Generation 2 graphics, so when I learned about ROM hacks by Tom, my first instinct was to play Generation 1 games with the Gen 2 graphics. I always disliked the Generation 1 backsprites because they weren't as refined as Gen 2. That became my go-to way to experience the Gen 1 games until I discovered the Spaceworld '97 sprites. Now, I've replaced just the backsprites in Blue and Red, though I've yet to find the same for Pokémon Yellow. I even attempted to download the Yellow disassembly and make it work myself, but to no avail. Getting some assistance with this would make playing Yellow my new favorite way. The Spaceworld '97 sprites feel authentic to the Gen 1 style, seamlessly replacing the originals.
     
    I currently have a build of this rom I've tried to make with the base rom disassembly of pokemon yellow gen-II Graphics. The problem I have is that it works seemingly fine on the supergameboy but on gbc the palettes do weird color changes. If anyone it interested in this let me know. I'm really excited about a recent pokemon yellow hack called pokemon yellow legacy and it's inspired me to want to figure this coding out.
     
    A little update but i have gotten this to work correctly with the yellow palettes. My only struggle is finding out how to add sections to the .pics file properly. If i add sections to free up space for the new backsprites then the pokemon in those new sections do not load. Ive tried altering the home\pics.asm file anf have had no luck with it so far. Currently you could make it so only 6 pokemon have the proper backsprites +the trainers thus it's somewhat playable. I will figure this out though! Just have to look at other rom hacks and see how they made more space for their 48x48 sprites.

    Currently working!! Just am play testing but so far way better than base yellow 🤙
    I plan on messing around with it some before moving on to some grander ideas or even putting up the file for everyone.

    Some plans for a possible future spin-off:

    -Gender select for playing as green
    -fixing bugs
    -Adding Mew in a way that makes sense
    -Eevee Starter
    -Green character or Red character Rival
