4th Gen Pokerus

Well I just got past the third gym on platinum and I seem to have a virus called Pokerus. Is this new to diamond/pearl/platinum because I completed pearl once and I never got it. The thing that concerns me is that my Prinplup has it so if it's gonna degrade my stats or kill my pokemon then I may have messed up big time. Do you have to do something special to get it or can you catch it from anything? Please help me and let me know more about the virus!

There you go. No, it doesen't make your pokemon worse, it makes it better.
No, it doesen't make your pokemon die. That's a common misconception (sp?) though.

Thanks guys. Seems like luck is on my side. I'll definitely put the prinplup in the box and try get by without it. I take it if I trade a pokemon with pokerus it should fetch quite a good pokemon from others, right?

No its not a new thing, its rare to catch it from a wild pokemon
i think its something similar to seeing a shiny pokemon in the wild

it doesnt degrade stats, it does the opposite
it can be very useful for training pokemon
as it increases the EV that a pokemon will get from fighting a pokemon
which means its stats will increase faster

if you want to spread it to other pokemon in your group - put the pokemon with Pokerus in the first slot
and then put the pokemon that you want to give it to into the second and have battles after about 3-6 battles the other pokemon
will also be infected

the virus lasts from 24-72 hours but the effects last even after you have been cured from it :)
