Recently I've been wondering a lot about having a 2v2 only posting area. I think it'd help weed out people that have 1v1 only mindsets and help the 2v2ers become stronger, and more focused in their ways.

Seeing that 2v2 is a completely different game of Pokemon, I thought it'd be good to hear what sort of amount of people would use the 2v2 area. Even if you aren't interested, I'm not looking for those that'd be like "I WOULDN'T" use it, I just want to see how many of the people here WOULD be interested in using it. :)

2v2 is another option of a way to play the game, and is now being integrated into all major parts of Pokemon. It'd be nice to be surrounded by others that think in a 2v2 way.

Double battles usually need much more strategy and combinations, so it's not so popular. Funny, but it's true. Most teams have individual Pokémon whose strategies don't combine with the rest, so it's better to have them in a 1 on 1. In this case, a team especially designed for double battles has some advantage over the normal ones.

I'd like to participate in some double battles because I think they are fun (maybe even better than 1 on 1's) but I'd suck. Also, some people (including me) like simplicity and tradition, so they prefer single battles.

This is just my opinion, though, I'm really not that sure about how many people like double battles, but I think I'm guessing well about the reasons.

Even though I really haven't worked too much on my 2v2 strategies (what with its lack-luster popularity), I'd be interested in a 2v2 Only area. That way, I could endulge myself in either style, and know exactly where to go. If I feel like 2v2ing in the current Battle area, I know I'm bound to get responses like "Make it 1v1, and I'm in!" which absolutely destroys the point of my battle request.

However, the current set up is fine to me, so I really don't mind either way.

There are too many double-battle strategies to discover, and I have a feeling many of those strategies will be considered too harsh and be banned under some battling rules. That is why single battle has always been more popular

I've never actually played 2v2 so that's why I cannot yet recommend it.
1v1, never tried that either. I actually don't find 1v1 that appealing, because it's much about comparing each others IVs. A Weavile vs. Weavile match depends on what Speed the other one has. It's impossible to win, if you're opponent is faster than you.
I'm a really lazy breeder, I usually breed about 5-10 Pokemons of the kind that I want to have and use the one with the best IVs. But hey, I never tried this, so what I'm I to critisize it. Besides, 2v2 sounds kinda fancy, might even try it with someone.

    I concur.

I used to play 2v2 excessivly. Then, I don't know, I found it not as fun (or strategic) as 1 on 1. That's just me.

I reckon just by having a 2 v 2 area, it would encourage more people to consider a 2 v 2 team, develop new strategies for 2 v 2 (and maybe indirectly a few single battle strategies, although I think almost all of them have been discovered). I'm all in favour of it.

Yeah so so far there have been varied responses (which is good). The more reasons that rise to the surface, the more likely a chance that there could be a 2v2 only area in the future!

There are all sorts of things to bear in mind, additionally, considering some people breed Pokes differently for 2v2, and if you have some extras leftover, there is always the chance that somebody might want those, and you can put up a trade offer for it in that specific area. It'd cut down on gunk.

Finally, the LEADING majority (lol 3 votes) is 2v2 ;D lol

I prefer single battles, as like Name said, there is too many combos on Double Battles. And I don't want to go too in-depth, (whatever that means). On them.

Yeah the Combos are what's keeping me busy trying to think up new stuffs ;D

As it is, I'm working on a Clefable right now with Follow Me, and a Swellow with Facade. Oh, the possibilities are crazy.

I think there should be just one section. Really - both serve the same purpose - getting teams rated.

U can just state wether its Double or Single Battle...

The best 2v2 strategy would be ninjask setting up rain (if it can) and then a Cspecs kingdra w/ swift swim destroying everything w/ dragon pulse or surf...hahaha.

My best double-battle strategy was Togekiss using Follow Me/Ninjask boosting Swords Dance and Speed and passing them to Machamp.

I agree; there's no reason as to why people can't just post their double battle teams in the GB Strategies and movesets section.

The thing is, I love the idea of 2v2, but it's just too much trouble to raise separate Pokemon specifically for 2v2. Even if you do, some Pokemon combinations don't work so well, so it's back to the drawing board to raise even more Pokemon.

    It's a dilemma.

    Are you serious?

Do you see the move "Follow Me" in 1v1? Or "Helping Hand?" There are literally dozens of moves who have the limelight in 2v2. I can think of one right off.. Icy Wind. A great move that does GREAT 2v2 damage: no damage reduction across 2 Pokes. Add STAB and you have 75 Ice Damage each Poke, PLUS speed reduction stat. All my Pokes (with only about one or two exceptions) are trained for 2v2 only. Combo battling and using strategies and moves bouncing off one another are key in 2v2. You wind up with different EV sets, different movesets, and different items on 2v2 Pokes than you would in 1v1.

Mainly what I've been concerned about is posting my 2v2 threads in the forum and then having people come and tell me to make my Pokes align to 1v1-style pokes. That's not cool. We need to draw the line between the two to reduce that sort of cross-posting. And while the advice may be INTENDED to be helpful, it can often muck up a thread with mis-advice for the wrong style of play.

My .03 cents, adjusted for inflation ;P

    I agree.
There should be an area only for 2 vs 2 Wi fi battles, since finding 2 vs 2 battles are hard to find. Same thing with movesets, as combinations are different in 2 vs 2 (for example, one pokemon uses protect and another uses earthquake).

As Smarties said, there is no need for a seperate forum. If they conntinue to post unhelpful advice, report them. There is also no need for a seperate battle forum, just make a thread for 2 v 2. If no one replies, that means no one is interested. It is Smarties decision, and it seems he refused.

I'm not just talking about "RMT" threads, I'm talking about the whole ball of wax. Everything related to battling, moves, combos, EVs and all that stuff, in an isolated place, where the wary user will not just click it and rattle off their typical ideas. (Which is not bad, just not in the right place in that case.)

I'm going for equality for Doubles! Double battles are just as important as Single battles because they are another element of the finished product (the game). I wish we could get some love. No other forum I've visited has one, however they have much more "skim and trim" ability- i.e, if they see something that resembles a 2v2 thing, unless they have a 2v2 comment to post, they refrain from posting.

I will say finally, double battles involve a lot of thinking. Which is great. I play the Mario Striker game on the Wii when I'm looking for like, blowing things up and feeling like an action game. But when I'm wanting to use my brain, I opt for Pokemon double battles, because it's not just all about making the biggest, fastest, strongest Poke you can. It involves real thought. I have piles of notes and dozens of notepads just torn to shreds while working on 2v2 setups. It's that in-depth for me, and I love it.

BUT here's the thing. I, for some unstated reason that even I have yet to find, really like these forums. I'd like to stay here. :D It'd be really nice to see a Doubles forum is all. Okay, I'm done commenting. I'm gonna go home and train my Marowak now. lol.
