Anybody here a fan of Post-Rock? (Instrumental music, sometimes focused on ambience I guess, hard to explain. I'll let wikipedia do it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post-rock )

If you don't it's really worth checking out. I guess it's kind of an aquired taste, and not all people will enjoy it, but the most beautiful songs in the world are Post-Rock songs. Not that Post-Rock is always soft, because it can be hard (Russian Circles) and technically amazing (Tera Melos, these guys blow minds, so good at their instruments).

    Good Bands:
    Explosions in the Sky
    65daysofstatic
    Red Sparowes
    Russian Circles
    Tera Melos
    Do Make Say Think
    You.May.Die.In.The.Desert
    Mogwai
    Godspeed You! Black Emperor
    Sigur Ros
    This Will Destroy You
    God is an Astronaut

Some Albums and Songs to check out:
Explosions in the Sky - Your Hand in Mine (Probably the most beautiful song ever made)
Explosions in the Sky - The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place (Amazing album, that includes their best songs, and includes the song above.6 Days at the Bottom of the Ocean is an amazing song on this record.)
65daysofstatic - The Destruction of Small Ideas (Amazing new album, CTTS even makes a guest vocal appearance on the last track)
Tera Melos - Tera Melos (Amazing, shows off their skills well. One of the more accessible bands, as they can keep your attention better. Melody 6 and 7 are genious.)
Red Sparowes - Every Red Heart Shines Towards the Red Sun (One of my favorite albums. Just simply amazing.)
You.May.Die.In.The.Desert - Bears in the Yukon Kinda similar to Tera Melos, very amazing. Been listening to this a lot recently.)
    and the list goes on...

This really isn't for everyone, but definitely worth a listen. It has turned into one of my favorite genres.

edit: Wikipedia's list of Post-Rock bands if your interest is sparked. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_post-rock_bands

One of my favorite genres. Though, wikipedia is a pretty bad place for genre listings

    Red Sparowes
    This Will Destroy You
    Godspeed You! Black Emperor
    A Silver. Mt Zion
    God is an Astronaut
    Do May Say Think
    Broken Social Scene (first album)
    Mogwai
    Tortoise
    The Samuel Jackson Five
    Bell Orchestre
    Cyann & Ben
    Sigur Ros

    All good stuff

Post rock is great. GYBE, ASMZ, EITS, the abbreviations go on. In fact, I'm listening to the new Caspian album right now and it's brilliant.
