    PLOT
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    A time long forgotten...

...A dark room, an aged bronze tablet with foreign looking letters engraved upon it. Clearly foreign, the tablet's significance goes without question. Footsteps sound in the narrow corridors leading to the room.

That sound...How long has it been since that sound was last present in my ears? Disturbing my sleep...Who dares? A voice radiates, seemingly from the room itself. It goes unheard by the man who briskly enters in the next instant.

"Yes...This is it...The Connection Plate! With this..." The man whispers, hands shaking.

A step. Another. The man creeps towards the tablet with over-exaggerated suspense filling his mind. A step.

Who dares?...Your kind...promised not to intrude. The consequences, oh the consequences.

The man took a step back, panic setting in.

    "W-Who's there?!", the man spat.

You are here for the tablet? The Connection Plate? Your need for this plate...How great is it?

The man took another step back, then answered, "The need is greater than you could possibly understand...I would trade anything for it!"

The need...Greater than I could understand? So be it. Remove the plate from the wall...And never return!

The plate lifted itself from the wall opposite the man, dust scattering, until resting on the floor below it. The next thing the man could remember was the plate in his hand, and those cold red eyes.

    Oh...Those cold, cold, eyes.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    A time worth remembering...

"So, Marla, how are things looking out in Newbark Town today?", a man's voice asked.

"Well, Geoff, there's a light breeze blowing, the sun is high, and the temperature is...let's see...a good 82 degrees out! This heat that's swept across the Johto region just won't seem to leave, and reportedly the climate has changed similarly in other regions of the world as well. Sinnoh is getting colder, Kanto is being hit with strong winds far more frequently than it used to, and Hoenn has just had it horrible with all the rain they've been recieving...Makes you wonder what's happening to the world, don't you think Geoff?", a woman looking to be in her early twenties enthusiastically exclaimed. The woman trailed off, turning around to look at the sky above, her long brown hair flowing with the wind.

"Marla, I just asked for how Newbark Town was doing today, but the worldly update is appreciated!" Geoff, the anchorman responded.

"Oh, look at this Geoff, there seems to be a crowd forming around the laboratory of the renowned Professor Elm! It appears...it appears there are a small group of people entering his laboratory, led by Professor Elm himself! My, is it already the day for new trainers to come choose their pokemon? Let's see if we can't get a line from the new trainers once they exit the building! Stay tuned!"

"Alright Marla, we'll be back after this commercial break with the news from the newest Pokemon trainers on the block!"
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    A time soon to happen...

Oh, to wake once more...How long has it been...? Ah, yes...I remember, the fool who came for the Connection Plate. Was his need great enough, was it truly? Mahahahaha...We shall see!

A crash, a low rumble...and a brilliant white light flash by in a matter of seconds. Panic is sure to follow.

How will the fools last without their precious connections?

Hehehe, I've got a really interesting character planned if I get this pokémon... so mind if I reserve Skorupi?

Alright, Searn, you are on the reserved list. And Blue Trainer...you're supposed to post in the OOC Thread. And you really should finish the SU before you post it, just saying.

Excuse me, I'd like to join, but I've never been in a RP before. So I don't have a sample. Can I still join? If so, I'd like to put a hold on Totodile...

    Chapter One

    Part One
    New Bark Town
The day is warm, the skies are clear. Numerous bird pokemon fill the sky. The day is almost perfect, it's a good sign.
    ----------------------
    Noon…
"…Professor. Professor!" a tired sounding voice called, "Wake up, wake up…The Omanyte has been revived, sir." the owner of the voice, an elderly man wearing a white lab coat, sighed. Professor Elm was never one to be woken up easily. His research often stole his nights from him, and sometimes part of the next day as well. Being tired was just one of the many things that came with his job, Elm would say.

"…Freud, is that you? What time is i-- Omanyte?! You said Omanyte was just revived?! Let me through, let me through!", the professor dissolved his drowsiness quickly, upon hearing Freud's news. Springing up from his chair, he whirled past Freud, and dashed out of the room.

"Professor Elm, you are so entertaining…so very entertaining." the elderly man whispered. "Don't forget about the other pokemon! They must be checked up on too!" Freud called, raising his voice so he would be heard. Across the laboratory, Elm barely acknowledged the reminder, too interested in the ancient pokemon that lay sleeping in front of him.
    ----------------------
    An hour later…
Slumped against a wall, Professor Elm was breathing heavily. "Who…who knew such a tired looking pokemon could get provoked so easily? All I did…was take some blood. It must have a fear of needles…"
The professor leaned against the wall for a moment more, then noticed the time on his watch, "Oh, I've only got a little under an hour to check out the rest of the pokemon! Those new trainers are going to be here before too much longer!", Professor Elm dashed off once more, his scatterbrained tendencies often landed him in these situations.

"Let's see…Chikorita, Male. Cyndaquil, Male. Totodile, Female. Skorupi, Male." Elm repeated to himself as he ran through the lab looking for the pokemon in question.

"Everything is in order, professor. While you were 'examining' the Omanyte, I took the courtesy of giving the other four pokemon their checkups. We're all good now. In the meantime, I would recommend that you go and take a nice hot shower, and make yourself pretty for the noobies", a tall man with short blonde hair said casually.

"New guy…new guy, I forget your name, but thank you!", Professor Elm said quickly, then made his way outside.

"My name is Leif, dammit!", the blonde man grumbled, his green eyes burning with unnecessary rage.

    ----------------------
    Now…
As the five new trainers entered the lab, Professor Elm wasted no time in getting started.

    New Bark Town: Post One
The burning sun thrust its rays over the grassy road and trees wiggled as the wind flew against their leaves. A near perfect day, one would say, for a beginning trainer to start a journey. Though the day seemed perfect on the outside, Arianna Russell felt as if she had been thrown overboard.

"Admit it Ree, you're just nervous," A ruggedly shaven face smiled back at Arianna, pixelized on the worn computer screen whilst her brother's voice was constantly interrupted through the bad connection. Arianna said nothing, continuing to clip her hair back off her face.

"Were you nervous when you started?" Arianna finally replied, plucking up the courage to ask what she feared only she was feeling.

"What was that? The connection's really bad Ree,"

"Nothing, it's nothing," She quickly said, watching as her brother's Poliwag tried desperately to climb from his arms to his head. How the Poliwag was going to do that without arms was beyond her.

"Ree, I really have to go now, Poliwag's quite a handful," Arianna stared at the screen, trying to define how her brother had changed since she'd last seen him. Would she too change once she'd begun her journey? "You'll do fine Ree, just remember to breathe," He joked. It wasn't long before Arianna had nodded in reply to her brother's goodbye, shut down her computer, gathered her belongings she'd already packed last night and headed downstairs.

Arianna was relieved her parents had already left for work, even though they had both tried very hard to get time off. She felt it was easier if they weren't around. With her younger brother at school, her older brother in a whole different region and her parents out most of the time, Arianna was used to being alone. Most of the time, she prefered it.

Leaving the house was easy. Leaving the town was easy. Leaving her family was tolerable. Leaving behind normality, on the other hand, all that she had known for the past four years, that was harder.
Whilst out on the route that connected her adopted hometown of Cherrygrove with New Bark Town, she checked her bag again as she walked, making sure she had everything she needed, for she wasn't planning on returning to her home now she'd left. As she came across the fold-up map, very worn at the edges, she scrunched her nose up. What good was having a map when she could hardly tell the top from the bottom?
It didn't take long before the small houses and the gleaming laboratory situated in New Bark Town came into view. The town radiated peacefulness, though Arianna wasn't one to notice. She was too busy worrying about what she would do if the contents of her breakfast came back to greet her because of her nerves.
Shoes crunching on the gravel stones that led up to the laboratory, Arianna partially joined the small group of people forming outside the lab. Avoiding eye contact, she made her way to the door. Part of her really wanted this, for finally she could have something in common with her brother, of whom she really missed but did not understand why. The other part of her was sizzling with nerves.

"Just remember what you're here to do," She muttered to herself before knocking twice on the door.

The door was opened by a man who looked slightly ignorant, though Arianna couldn't be sure, her stomach was doing too many flips for her to take much notice. The man looked at her expectantly whilst Arianna could only blink. Then he shut the door. Arianna stumbled backwards in surprise, nearly tripping over her own feet. Was that the Professor Elm she'd heard a lot about? Surely not. Did she get the right day? Ofcourse, today was circled in red ink numerous times on the calender which hung in her bedroom.

With a sudden burst of anger, Arianna took a step forward and rapt her knuckles on the door again. She heard muffled noise from inside before the door opened for the second time by a different man. At least, Arianna thought, his first impression was better than the previous man's.

"Hello," He smiled. "I apologise for the confusion, are you here for a Pokemon?" He questioned politely.
Arianna nodded, the anger she had felt before turning into embarrassment.

    "Follow me then,"

Arianna did as she was told, following the polite man through the mess of the laboratory.

"My name is Freud," The elderly man continued as he led her to where the Pokeballs were kept. "I take residence here in the lab. Unfortunately, the Professor is preoccupied at this time though he may be available to see you off. I am well abled to answer any questions you may have, uh..." He gave a questioning look.
Arianna, unfortunately, was slow at her reply.
"Oh!" She fumbled. "I'm Arianna Russell,"

"Right," Freud replied. "Well Arianna, have you made a decision about which Pokemon you are going to choose?"

Arianna had not even considered the options she had. Acknowledging another blank stare from Arianna, Freud continued.
"Your fellow beginning trainers have each indicated their preferred choice of starter, so that means..." The elder trailed off, peering closely at a clipboard sitting on the desk.
"Oh! A new trainer already?" A loud burst from the door caught Arianna's attention and she swirled round to find the noise.
Blatently obvious the man was indeed Professor Elm, he was adjusting his lab coat as he joined Arianna and Freud, his hair still not dry, his glasses slightly wonky.

    "This is Arianna Russell, Professor,"

Arianna motioned a quiet hello before both the men were peering at the clipboard. Despite the mess of the laboratory and the rudeness of the other assistant, Arianna surprisingly felt a little less nervous, though she was not sure why. These professors seemed kind of creepy, though it was obvious they were dedicated to their research.

"Ah ha!" Professor Elm exclaimed, bringing Arianna out of her day dream. "This is your new partner,"

A shiny red and white Pokeball was retrieved off a circular table by the Professor and handed to Arianna. The ball was slightly warm and surprisingly heavy in her hands.

"I'll also give you empty Pokeballs and a Pokedex. Try not to lose the Pokedex though," Professor Elm continued as he hunted around the room, trying to locate the necessary items.

After receiving the Pokeball, everything moved too quickly for Arianna. She soon found herself standing on the doorstep, the door shut behind her once more. The Pokeball in her hand and the name of her new partner in her mind, she slowly descended down the path towards the road, still dumbfounded. Exactly what was she meant to do now?

All too suddenly, a large black camera found its way in front of her line of sight. She stopped walking suddenly, clutching the Pokeball with the utmost care.

"Look who we have here! A new trainer! Tell us, what Pokemon did you end up choosing for this journey of yours?"

Blinking a couple of times, Arianna watched in slight amusement as the reporter and her cameraman trained their eyes on her, waiting for an answer.

    "I was given the Chikorita,"

"Chikorita huh? A grass type. Do you believe you'll be at a disadvantage here, picking a Pokemon with type weaknesses to most wild Pokemon in the area?"

The question threw Arianna. She'd never bothered much with types before, believing that with proper training, any Pokemon could overcome what they needed to, despite having a supposedly 'type weakness'. The only problem for her would be the training.

"I don't know," Ariann mumbled in reply.

"Right... Tell us, are you now going to aim your sights on beating the formiddable bird trainer Faulkner in Violet city, the closest gym to here?"

    "Uh, I guess,"

Arianna could see the reporter getting annoyed with her answers. The reporter was beginning to annoy Arianna too.

"Well then, New Bark town bids you farewell and goodluck young trainer!"

Arianna moved very quickly away from the reporter, in an effort to get off screen. The Pokeball still clutched in her hand, she clung onto her bag strap as she started to make her way out of town towards the route. It was somewhere there, she told herself, that she'd let her Pokemon out and just hope that the Chikorita wouldn't run away. Anywhere was better than here.

Alex was staring out at the ocean, simply thinking. The previous day he had left from Vermillion City on the ferry that would take him to Olivine. From Olivine, he had ordered a bird escort to take him to New Bark Town. Just moments before, Alex had heard a man come over the intercom and say they were almost there, so he had packed up his things and vacated his room. He had decided to just watch the scenery as they arrived, and found that it wasn't half a bad idea. There were many beautiful sights. Though far off, Alex could tell that close up the special areas of Johto would prove exciting. He sighed and watched.

It wasn't long after that that Alex was stepping off the boat and onto the pier. He looked around, slinging his pack over his shoulder as he did so. Other passengers spilled out of the gate around him, but Alex took his time in getting off the boat and the pier. He glanced up at the large lighthouse and saw its light. Then he began to look around for the thing that he was really supposed to be; his escort. Finally Alex spotted a large Pidgeot sitting on the edge of the dock, with a sign hung on its neck. Alex's name had been scribbled on the sign. Alex eyed the Pidgeot for a moment, and then walked over to it.

"Geo!" it screeched softly, cocking its head to the side.

Alex took the sign off the Pidgeot's neck and read some of the finer details. This Pidgeot was a she, and according to the sign it was the Pidgeot that was going to take Alex all the way to New Bark. Alex saw the pay box on the sign as well, and smirked. Of course they couldn't forget their money, now could they? He rolled his eyes and dropped some money in the box thing, and then hung it back around Pidgeot's neck. The female cooed softly and stared at him.

"Do you need I.D.?" Alex questioned, feeling a bit odd that he was asking a Pidgeot something like that. The bird chirped and nodded. Alex grabbed his former school's I.D. tag. It said his name on it, along with a small picture and some things like his height and weight. The Pidgeot glanced at it then turned around. She glanced over her shoulder and squawked at him. Alex's eyebrow rose, but he got the picture. Alex got on the bird, and moments later it flew away towards the east, and toward what Alex assumed was New Bark Town. He let his eyes drift shut, and soon was asleep on the back of the great bird.

Alex felt them going down, and that's what woke him up. He shot awake, fearing Pidgeot had gotten hurt, but relaxed when he saw she was simply flying down towards a large building that could be nothing other than the Pokemon lab. Soon Pidgeot landed, and Alex got off the bird Pokemon and stretched. He felt rather cramped on the Pidgeot, probably because he was so tall. In any case, Alex turned to the Pidgeot and gave it the other half of its payment, then watched as it screeched and took off, heading back towards the west. Alex vaguely wondered if it really did live in Olivine, but then turned to the lab.

He knocked on the door and then waited. Within moments, a blonde guy opened the door. He had green eyes, but Alex didn't really care about this guy. He knew this wasn't the Pokemon Professor. "Who're you?" the blonde questioned, squinting in Alex's direction.

"Alex Bihar," Alex replied softly, staring back with an even gaze.

The guy grunted and checked his list. "You're not on here."

    "Check for the last name."

He ran his finger down the list, and paused. "You his brother or something?"

"No. I put my real name on there."

"Eh, whatever. Come one," the guy grumbled, moving aside and allowing Alex in.

Alex walked past the guy without asking for his name, and stepped into the lab. It didn't look too spectacular, but Alex hadn't really expected it to. All he really wanted was to get his Pokemon and be on his way. He saw a man whom he recognized as Professor Elm seated at a desk, but other than that he didn't take much note of anyone else.

"Here for a Pokemon?" Elm questioned, getting out of his chair and walking towards the Pokeballs on his desk. There was one already missing, and that made Alex curious. He wondered who had got the first Pokemon, and what exactly that Pokemon was. In the back of his mind, Alex vaguely hoped it wasn't a good one.

"Yeah," Alex answered, not feeling like going into much detail. He had never really been much of a talker anyway.

    "Excellent. Let's see...you're...Alex, correct?"

    "Mhm."

Elm looked a bit put off by Alex's lack of talking, but brushed it aside. He turned to the Pokeballs and grabbed one, then walked over to Alex and handed it to him. "This is your first Pokemon, a Cyndaquil. It's a fire type with a rather shy attitude, but I think he'll get over that soon enough. You seem like you'd be able to bring the best out of him," Elm said pleasantly. "Oh, and here are five Pokeballs and a Pokedex as well." Elm handed over five extra spheres and a square...thing.

"I'll try. And thanks," Alex replied, taking the Pokeball from Elm and putting it on his belt loop. He stowed the extra ones on separate loops, and then slipped the Pokedex in the side-pocket of his pack. Alex checked to make sure the object wouldn't fall out, and then was ready to get going. Just as Alex had turned to go and had begun to leave, he heard someone say something.

"Why don't you show a bit more respect, kid?!"

"Now, Leif, it's fine..." Elm muttered.

"No, no it's not! This bastard marches in here and gets a Pokemon and all he says is thanks?! Well, I think it's pretty goddamn rude. So apologize, you *******!"

Alex glanced over at Leif and shot him a small smirk. "I have nothing to apologize for, Leif."

"Oh yes, yes you do Suraj," Leif snarled.

Alex's eyes flashed and the smirk disappeared from his face in moments. He walked right over to Leif and grabbed him by the neck. "Why don't you mind your own business, Leif," Alex growled lowly.

"Gentlemen!" a voice barked from next to Elm. Alex let go of Leif silently and tried to relax.

"I suggest you get going, Alex," Elm commented, shooting a slight annoyed look at Leif, who lowered his gaze.

"Thanks again, professor," Alex grumbled. He walked out of the lab, shutting the door softly behind him. Sure, he was pissed. The thing was, he had never been the type to really show it once the major confrontation was over.

The problem was, as soon as he walked outside Alex was ambushed. Not by a Pokemon, however, he was ambushed by another person. She quickly introduced herself as Marla, and she had some camera dude with her. Alex gazed at them cooly, trying not to let them get him annoyed again. He never got angry too fast, unless he had been provoked again.

"Wow! You and Leif don't seem to like each other much, do you?"

    Alex stared at her. "Window?"

She nodded quickly. "So what do you say about Leif? How is his attitude? Should he even be working with Professor Elm, with a temper like that? Could he hurt someone?"

"He won't. He just dislikes me. I dislike him. I'm very hard to get along with," Alex replied. He had begun to get a headache. "Are you done yet?"

"Just a couple more questions! So a Cyndaquil! How do you think that will help you on your journey?"

    "Cyndaquil will be fine."

"Uhm...ok..." Marla said slowly, glancing back at her cameraman for help. He shrugged, looking a bit hopeless too. "Thanks for your time, Mr. Bihar."

"Hm." Alex walked by them, without even looking to see if they were still filming.

As Troy woke up, he hit his head on the ceiling...
"Ouch" Troy cried, and rubbed his forehead carefully. He threw his blanket aside as he remembered where he was; New Bark Town Johto.
They had arrived in New Bark a week ago, and they had bought a small house from the eastern side of the town, near the river. Troy had to sleep in a high bed, which he had forgotten each morning, resulting in hitting his head each time.
He swiftly jumped down from the high bed and (tried) tiptoed to the bathroom, as they all slept in the same room.
Troy took his toothbrush and paste and jumped into the shower, taking his boxers off with a swift move.

"Wonder which Pokémon the prof gives me..."
He thought while putting soap in his hair and he started to think all of the possibilities.
"Hopefully a Charizard or... Or maybe a one of those Feraligatr!" He thought out loud as he slipped out of the shower.
While getting up he took new boxers and ran to the kitchen, pulling his signature red t-shirt from the couch and dodging random thrash piles.
As he pulled the refrigerator door open, he was greeted by a pile of falling food.
Carefully he picked up the dropped food from the floor and decided to make a nice big sandwich for breakfast... Which means dry bread in Troy's language. While eating the dry bread, he took a glass of water and gulped both down at the same time, waking his parents up in the process. His parents cried out loud as Troy took his medicine, put his clothes on quickly and went out of the door, yelling something about Pokémon, professor and elite four in the process.

He arrived the prof's lab panting, as he had ran the whole way there. He knocked loud and a blond boy opened the door
"Name?" Asked the boy, with an annoyed look on his face.
"Troy Santana," said Troy and ran past the boy, accidentaly knocking him out of balance.
Troy hit the prof with a thud, as he had not looked around him too much, only focusing on the machine across the room. There were four Pokéball slots, with two of the slots empty.

"Well hello to you too..." Said the prof as Troy cursed a little for hitting his forehead again."You're here for the Pokémon, right?" Said Elm before continuing"Take this one then, it should suit you well" Said Elm, took a weirdly colored grey ball from the left side of the machine, and tossed it to Troy."Oh, and take these too", he said and threw him a belt containing five
    Pokéballs and a red Pokédex.

"Thanks!" Said Troy nicely as his medication kicked in.
As he was putting the belt on, Elm opened his mouth again.
"Oh and finally..." He said and took a note from his left pocket. "This is my phone number so you can call me if you have anything to ask me". He said with an odd grin on his face, and gave the note to Troy.
"Uhh, thanks prof." Troy said and left the lab, looking around it.

"Oh another cute trainer is coming from the lab after recieving his first Pokémon!" Said an odd voice as Troy closed the heavy door of the lab behind him.
"Huh?" he said as he saw he was looking at a big tv camera.
"And what's your name cutiepie?" Asked a brown-haired woman holding a microphone.
"Umm... Troy Santana, ma'm" Said Troy and looked awkardly at the microphone.
"Okay Troy, and what's your starter Pokémon?" Asked the woman with an annoyingly wide grin on her face.
"Actually... I have no idea yet, as I haven't actually released it from it's Pokéball yet." Said Troy awkwardly while digging the ground with his left foot.
"Why don't you show us then, cutie... I mean Troy" Said the reporter.
"Oh, okay... I guess." Moaned Troy and took his Pokéball from the black belt."Here goes nothing..." Said Troy, and threw the ball in the air, while his heart was racing. "Hopefully it's something good!" He thought in his head, while the ball opened and released a small Pokémon...

Troy's and the reporter's grin faded as they realized that the small Pokémon was the laziest Pokémon in excistance: Slakoth...
"Um... Well, that is nice! How... Cute, actually." Said the reporter while rubbing her head.
"Yes... Very... Cute..." Said Troy and started to walk away from the reporter, dragging the Slakoth behind him.
"Oh, Right" said the reporter while turning back to the camera.
"This was "Eye on beginners" with Marla! Back to the studio". Said Marla with a grin.

Awkward as it seemed, Arianna felt very calm. She was seated on the grassy verge, a little way away from the laboratory. Arianna had finally gained the courage to let her new Pokemon out of it's ball, relieved the grass type had not run away as soon as she had pressed the white button on the gleaming Pokeball.

The Chikorita, after introductions, had proceeded to imitate Arianna, awkwardly trying to cross his short legs before finding he couldn't. He then made himself comfy amongst the tall grass. It was then that they started some sort of staring competition, Chikorita staring straight at Arianna, who was soon finding it hard to keep eye contact. It was creeping her out.

"So..." Arianna started, before she stopped abruptly. Chikorita's eyes had narrowed very suddenly. Arianna tried very subtly to edge away from her new partner, which was obviously the wrong move and Arianna knew it too. She received what Chikorita thought to be a powerful whack on her calf with his leaf, startling Arianna. She stood up very suddenly, a look of confusion on her face.

"Uh, right... Should we go now?"

Chikorita did not look like he was ready to go just yet though. During the short span of the fifteen minutes Arianna stood waiting for her Pokemon to follow, Chikorita dozed for a couple of minutes, chewed the grass that feverishly grew around him and finally started to groom himself, all whilst stopping momentarily to glare at Arianna. The young girl's complexion had turned whiter and whiter with each action persued by her new Pokemon. The longer Chikorita failed to follow Arianna's wishes to leave New Bark Town, the more worried she became.

Arianna, thinking again of her brother, wondered momentarily about what he would do in this situation. Arianna knew what she lacked was confidence, though somehow she had to show this Chikorita she meant business. Sort of, anyway.

Taking a few steps towards Chikorita once more, dodging another swipe of his leaf, Arianna knelt down, attempting to even out the height difference between herself and her Pokemon. Chikorita's eyes were downcast, staring at the ground with his brow forming the shape of a 'V'. His jade coloured eyes flickered upwards momentarily before he looked down at the grass again. Arianna sat still, waiting for what she did not know.

"Chikorita," Arianna started softly, intending to sound as nice as she possibly could though she was disappointed in the first encounter with her Pokemon. "I realise now that you maybe don't want to come with me, travelling around Johto. The thing is though, I really want you to come with me. I can't do this alone."

Arianna, plucking at the grass that surrounded her, surveryed the area behind her for any sign of life. She felt mildly idiotic, talking to this Pokemon she hardly knew and who hardly knew her like this but she had to do something.

"We don't have to do anything like battling but I really do think we need to just... walk. Get started, y'know?" Arianna's voice seemed small and innocent in the heat of the day. Her shoulders slumped and she sighed as Chikorita showed no sign of moving. Standing up, Arianna, forcing back tears of frustration, reached for Chikorita's Pokeball. He displayed no objection to being returned to the Pokeball.

"He probably prefers it in there rather than out here with me," Arianna thought to herself before she unwillingly shoved the Pokeball to the bottom of her bag. Taking one last look around, Arianna headed off for the first route that lead towards the next town, a heavy weight on her shoulders and what seemed like a step back from her dream.
