6th Gen Preemptive Strikes?

Preemptive strikes are something utilized in some JRPGs--you basically "sneak up" on the enemy to attack first, and they can only respond the next turn.

Pokémon has never had this, but do you think they will include it for gen 6? Would you like for it to be included? Why or why not?

I think we may see something similar with wild Pokémon.

Because if I was paying attention, I definitely wouldn't let some trainer step on me.

That does seem like an interesting idea. It'll be interesting to see if there are more than just 'stepped' on.

That would explain the difference between the text. Hopefully the step on won't simply be the unique text for encountering pokemon in the desert.

I would like to see this.
I'm pretty adapted to this from Persona series and I would love to see it in Pokemon as well.
But it might kill the Pokemon idea of "quicker one attacks first"...

It could also be just another introduction for a regular wild battle?
Seems rather unlikely though. I wonder how it would work, because since you can't
see the Pokemon in the grass, it would be hard to "sneak up" on them

I think it's just different wording for a different environment. Maybe there are going to be a few Pokemon you encounter who have certain spots that you might walk over and automatically trigger a battle like this. Sort of like Voltorb or Foongus, only you won't see them until you step on them.

It seems hard to justify sneaking up on a Pokemon when you have to take the time yourself to throw out a Pokeball. That ought to be plenty of time for the wild one to figure out you're there.

I imagine if rock smash is used and we run to say a Geodude it'll proably have something similar to this text. It wouldbe nice though if doing so they add a chance (randomly of course) in which they are too shocked by the stepping/punching to attack.
