Problem using transfer pack, can't locate the route of the problem

    Hi :)

I recently thought to myself, after picking up pokemon blue (using visual boy advance) I thought "I wonder if Project 64 can emulate the transfer pack, and get my pokemon from blue on to stadium". So I did a bit of searching, and I found out it actually is possible!

There was a patch I was instructed to put in the patch folder, which I did (N-Rage's DirectInput8 V2 1.83). After doing that I followed the rest of the instructions exactly, selecting the patch as the Input plugin in settings, then clicking "configure controller plugin" I selected "Transfer pack" under the "Controller pack" tab and selected the correct gb and sav files.

So, when I ran it, everything seemed to work. I got to select the game pack (I had saved at a pokemon centre), and got to go to Professor Oak's lab to check out my pokemon. But see... that's where it gets a little scary.

See this screenshot... It shows a bar at the bottom in place of where text is supposed to be.

Not really a big deal, but a symptom nonetheless. Same with the messed up picture of this pidgey, I get this with any pokemon I look at in this way from my blue save:

Still, I can live with that. But this one really limmits my gameplay:

This last picture is an image of the camera being stuck flying around the bulbasaur, after it defeated a pokemon, while the opponent is supposed to choose their next pokemon. At this point the match cannot continue any further. This limmits me to only being able to use rentals in battle (yes, rentals work just fine). Defeats the purpose of the transfer pack.

So... I can't seem to be able to locate the route of this problem. I've tried re-installing everything, and I have the latest versions of everything, including VBA. I had a look around the internet to see if others were having similar problems, but there was no sign that this problem had occurred anywhere else.

Is anyone able to help me? I'm really frustrated. Thanks.

Hmm... it would be great to see a second opinion. :>

I know this is just a wild guess but do you think this could have anything to do with my low-quality graphics card? I mean, I wouldn't have thought so... but...

Well... I'll tell you what I did, though I don't know if its the same as what you did. I got all these instructions off another poster on a forum so I don't know if this is the only way to do it.

I downloaded the latest complete version (not the beta for the newest version) of N-Rage's DirectInput8 V2 1.83 (you'll have to google as I'm not allowed to link to it I don't think). I then put the extracted file into the 'plugin' folder in the PJ64 folder.

Then I opened the Project 64 emulator and clicked 'settings' under options (alternatively Ctrl+T). Under the plugins tab I looked for the drop-down list titled 'Input (controller) plugin' and selected N-Rage's DirectInput8 V2 1.83 from the drop-down menu. Then I clicked 'OK'.

I then went to options and selected 'configure controller plugin...'. I configured the controller as I usually would, and once I was done with that I selected the tab 'Controller pak'. There is a drop-down menu just below the tab where I selected 'Transfer pak'. Where it says 'GB ROM file' I selected my pokemon blue ROM, and where it says 'GB ROM save' I selected my pokemon blue save file. Then I clicked 'save'.

And that's pretty much all I did. Was it any different from what you did?
