::Sorry I couldn't post. This page is always getting Database Error on my compy. Haven't a clue why though.::

I nodded as Eclipse headed into the bushes. I didn't answer her earlier question. I knew there was another Umbreot, Nightfall, but he was vicious. So vicious, that the other scientist had to have a crane descend over his cage, just for him to be fed. I sighed heavily. If that was Nightfall, Eclipse, might be in danger. Nightfall, was extreamly unpredictable. He killed about 20 scientists in a year. But it may not have been him. There were lots of other flying Umbreon hybrids. Umbrecuno, Umbrizard, Umbredos, and even Umbreotto. It might not be him.
Might not. I just hope Eclipse won't decide to leave us is she finds a Umbreon she likes.
I was very afraid Eclipse would leave us for someone eles. She was the friendliest person I'd ever met. Mabye, just mabye, she'd stay. But, if Nightfall had changed, she just might leave us for him.

~*~Proluge~*~

The lights in a large room flickered on with a dim buzz.A woman, grey hair in a tight bun, walked up to a cage as she pulled on a pair of thick gloves and picked up a needle from a table.
In the cage was a screaming, frantic girl around 14.The Woman Silently insturcted two others standing nearby to restrain her.The woman swiftly injected the girl with the needle, then was handed another which was also injected.
The girl fell siglent, and the cage was dragged into one of many zoo-like habitats, and the door was opened.A blanket was pulled off the chain mesh fence in the front of the cage, and applase rose from the crowds around it.
Yet another Poke-Creature had been added to the growing collection, created by injecting pokemon DNA into humans.

::ooooo very nice Yami's Girl/pynpfan! it's a little late to join, MistMermaid.::

As I looked Nightfall over, I sensed an aura of worry and doubt, but dismissed it. I then took a closer look at his face. There was a large claw mark across his nose.
<What happened, Nightfall? Why are you all scratched up?>
He poked the tip of his nose where the scar was thickest, then studied my face, as if he was trying to decide whether to trust me. Then he spoke. "I was in the hybrid zoo - you must have been there too, so you know about it. I couldn't bear what had happened to me, so I reacted violently. Every scientist that came near me was a threat, and I... became very vicious. No one could possibly reach me; I was living in a state of constant rage. I... don't know how long that was. I hurt and even killed some of the workers... and I deeply hurt myself. I'm trying to change myself now that I'm free, but... it's just..."
<It's just so hard to forgive and move on, to accept who you have become.>
He looked up at me. "Then... you understand..." He reached over and broke a twig off the bush, picking the leaves off one by one.
"After I got away during the attack on the lab, I've been living here. It's peaceful and quiet most of the time, and good for starting over, but... it's very lonely."
I smiled. <Then maybe you can stay with me and my friends. C'mon!>

::Aw, thanks! :D Oh yes, as for the Name change, call me whichever.::

I turned my head as I heard another rustling in the bush. I took a fighting stance. An Umbreon ear emerged from the bush, then Eclipse's face came into view. I sighed with relief and relaxed my position. Eclipse emerged fully, along with another Umbreot.
"Nightfall!" I cried. I just about slashed him.
"What the?! Get away from me and my friends you vicious little mind reader! I'm sure you're gonna kill us or somethin'! Well, I got news for ya! I'm Emily, you know, the scientist you just about killed! And I gonna make sure that dosen't happen to anyone eles!" I got in front of Eclipse.
"If you hurt her, you hurt me..."

<Whoa! Calm down, Emily. He's not killing anyone. We just came out of the bush, that's all... sheesh.>
Nightfall looked confused. His instinct to thrash us silly was emerging, it was true, but he tried to fight it. Finally, I sensed that he could not hold it and spoke only to him.
<Maybe you should leave until you calm down. I'll be with you in a minute if I can.>
Taking my advice, he sighed and flew upwards, high into a tree. I knew he was still struggling, but perhaps away from temptation it would be easier.
I faced Emily. <What was that about? Did he really try to kill you...?>

I sat down right there in the grass. I had the responsibilty of my family of friends, but what if they would not even give Nightfall a chance? I'd be torn.
<I know he acted viciously in the zoo. Think about it, though. That experience did things to all of us, not just him. We just were able to make the best of it. He wasn't.>

...I don't know what to do...

I watched Nightfall as he flew off to the tree. I gave a anger look before looking back to Eclipse.
<Yes, he did try to kill me once. He just about tore off my head and slashed my shoulders till you could see the bones!> I pointed to my shoulders, which had long white scars.
<They thought that, since I was the nicest person in the zoo, I could coax him and he'd be nicer. But, no! He said 'It's a lie! I don't like humans anymore!' And started slashing like crazy! They had to pick him up with the crane to get me out! I don't trust him, Eclipse! I probably never will! He has a record! And the one who hasn't forgot is ME!>
I flew off towards the tree, Nightfall, resided in.
"You stay away from them!" I flew off deeper into the forest. I passed by many pokemon, who looked at me with surprsied glances. They said something like "It's a sad Charizard!" It was true. I was sad. Tears streamed down my cheeks. I settled in large clearing.
"I'm sure they don't believe me! Nightfall'll turn on them if they trust him enough! I'm pretty sure Nightfall will react and come to battle me, with all of that anger he has."

Though Emily flew off, I stayed put. Those scars... The long marks on her shoulders trigged a horrible memory I thought I had lost. It was of my father's murder... and why I had been sent to the zoo.
I could sense Emily's sadness, and I could sense Nightfall's great mix of feelings as well. He was upset and angry, like she was, but he also felt rejectedness. My heart wanted to go to both of them, but it was likely that they will never trust each other.
Forgetting myself, I burst into tears, unable to help either of them.

Is Nightfall still that horrible? Is Emily still that hurt?

I wanted so badly to have both of them. One, a friend who had saved my life. The other, just like me in body and also somewhat in heart.

What should I do...?

As if to break the seriousness of the moment Jason started giggling. And once he started giggling he couldn't stop. Then he noticed Eclipse's tear-stricken face glaring at him. Taking that as a que to stop laughing he sort of limp/dragged himself over to the middle of the clearing and collapsed onto the ground. Pulling himself onto his back and looking towards the sky, Jason focused on one star. The North Star as far as he knew. And started thinking.
Emily, Eclipse, Night-whatever and myself. That's all. And I'm the only human... yet... I turned back for a brief, grieving moment. Was... was it a mistake to change back. They can never find love unless it is for one like themselves... yet I... I can find someone... but could I truly really ever love them? Thinking about these thoughts of a quest for true love, Jason fell into a fitful sleep. Yet while he waas sleeping he did not notice that he changed into his humanoid form of Umbreous, or that one black feather fluttered down to land on his face.

ooc: Yeah I've been reading DNAngel! So what?! Satoshi is so hot... *drool*

I sat in the clearing, crying. Crying till I thought I couldn't cry anymore. I should've stopped when I heard a rustle in the bushes. But I didn't. I figured it was just a pokemon.
But that assumption almost cost me my life.

A loud bang broke the silence. I ducked.
"A gun!" I flew quickly into the air to try and find my attacker. There was a boy, about 15 or so, handling a rifle. I glared and roared. I dived. He shot and I evaded. I got close enough to get a quick look at my attcker.
It's the kid who tried to capture me at the zoo! I quickly gained air again and dodged his gunshots. I soon figured he was going in a pattern. He could fire three times and then had to reload. I waited until his third shot was fired and dove again.

The kid must've figured out what I was doing, because he quickly reloaded and shot. I, being off-gaurd, couldn't dodge in time. I was still fairly high in the air, and the bullet hit me right where my left wing attached to my body. Pain swept through me. I couldn't flap my left wing! I tried but in vain. I was soon drained of any energy I had and fell about 100 feet to the ground. I was breathing heavily. I roared a cry of pain.
<Eclipse! Nightfall! Jason! Help!> The boy came up to me, his gun down at his side.
This is where I die. I thought. But I pushed that thought aside. I breathed my most powerful attack, well, as powerful as I could get it. The boy dodged, seeing as I was weak, he couldn't help but laugh.
<Eclipse! I need you!> I then said something I never dreamed I would say.
<Nightfall! I need you too! I'm sorry about what I said. Please, help me!> The boy picked up his gun and loaded it.

"If I can't have you," He said. "Then no one will."

::Sorry about the wait. I had some Rper's block::

::that was more than worth the wait!! sorry for bugging you::

<Eclipse! I need you!>

My head jerked up immediately, and I felt a dull pain surging through my wings. Emily! Emily had been hurt! I threw my tears aside like yesterday's rags and powered as fast as I possibly could toward Emily's voice.
In midair, I was joined by Nightfall. "I heard the call too. C'mon!" We rocketed through the trees, snapping twigs off bushes in our hurry.

Then I saw.

That kid... that heartless kid who had tried to capture Emily in the zoo!! He had shot Emily!
My heart became a sudden raging flame. <NOO!!!!!!> I screamed. <NO! NO! NO! NO!> I flashed to Emily's side and saw the wound. Nightfall followed and stayed beside her. Then I lunged at the kid.
<HOW COULD YOU!> His smirking face faded as he saw that my eyes were intense flames of rage. <NO!> I struck at him with a fury-driven Psychic.
<Suffer yourself to feel pain!> I forgot everything and struck at him with my clawed fingers. His gun flew through the air and landed on the ground, breaking.
<Without your silly toy, you're nothing. Only here to ruin our lives.> I breathed hard. <What is left of our lives!> My glare was scaring him, and his face was bleeding where it had been clawed. I didn't care.
<Get out!> I pushed him up against a tree and took his collar in my clenched fist. My face close to his, I uttered my final warning. <If I ever see your filthy face within ten miles of me or my friends again...> I trailed off and drew my sharp claws for him to see clearly.
<...you will regret it...>
He looked at me fearfully, then tried to jump for his damaged gun. Without moving a muscle, I psychically lifted it and dashed it against a rock. It shattered into a million pieces of scrap.
<Run.>
He did.

<Oh flippin'...> I leaned against the tree and breathed hard. I gasped in and out sharply. I turned my head towards Emily and Nightfall, who had been guarding her.
<Is she alright?> I said weakly.

Jason awoke in a cold sweat to find the clearing deserted.
" That dream... it was REAL... " He muttered as he hobbled his way towards where his heart was telling him to go. After a few painful minutes of run-hobble-run walking Jason found himself right next to Emily, Eclipse and whathisname.
" Ohmigosh! Is everyone alright?! " He yelled. Trying to run over he tripped. So now he was sprawled on the ground, a look of horror on his face, staring at Emily's wing.

::They're always worth it right? ^^ And you'd be looking at my shoulder, Jason, not the wing. XD::

I opened my eyes. I could hear Eclipse fighting the kid and closed my eyes for a minutes rest. I looked around and saw Nightfall standing over me. I breathed a sigh of relief. He came too. That meant he trusted me. I sat up,with a painful groan.
<Ow,ow,ow,ow...> I looked to face everyone.
<Friends!> I exclaimed. Nightfall looked away, mabye a bit offended.
<You're a part of that group, Nightfall.> Nightfall whirled around, surprised.
I sighed. <You came to my rescue, even when I yelled at you, acused you and put you down. That, is what I call a true friend.> Nightfall smiled warmly. I returned his smile.I hugged my friends. <I'm so glad you came! One second later and... Well, I'm not going to talk about that!> A small object flew through the air. I ducked and started to tremble. A looked up and saw a Pidgey with a confused look on his face.
Paranoid... I stood up, which was painful, and examined my shoulder. It seemed the bullet had torn a ligament that connected my wing to my body. I probably wouldn't be able to fly for a long time. I flung my arms in the air!
<Great! Just great! I could vulnerable for attack and wouldn't be able to get away! This is a real fix.> I slumped down.
<Why me?! Why?>

I drew a deep breath. <Oh shnap... I'm not even going to say just how scary that was!> Then I examined Emily's wing.
<Eh... That does look pretty bad. My Moonlight probably wouldn't be enough to fix it... Ooooo, that kid! That... man, I can't say it...>
Nightfall turned to look at me. He seemed to still be in a little shock over Emily's very sudden change of heart. "Hey, uh... I can use Moonlight too. Do you think our combined power would be more effective?"
I thought for a moment as Nightfall looked at me, hopeful. He seemed to be almost high on the new idea that someone could actually be his friend. His face looks cute with that smile... did I just think that??
<It's worth a try,> I told him honestly. <Let's go.>
In moments we both summoned all our energy to try to heal Emily as much as possible. I concentrated hard and called upon moonlight under our shady canopy of the forest, and I could see him doing the same. Emily was bathed in a pure white light, then, as it faded, we looked to see how much it had helped.

I closed my eyes in the bright light. I thought of distant things, way distant. After the moonlight faded I came back to the world and stood. I flapped my wing. There was a moderate pain, but it was probably from having to sag while I was standing.
<Very nice! It hurts a little still, but with a little exercise it should be good as new!> I smiled warmly.
<Thanks.> I flapped both my wings and took to the air. I zoomed around in circles and swirls. How good it felt! It was only about half and hour ago I couldn't fly, but that felt like an eternity! I was so happy I roared a friendly roar to all. It said something like:
"Guess what?! I can fly and feel like I could take over the world!"
I swooped around a few more times, then landed on the ground with a huge grin across my face.
<I feel great! Thanks guys! I needed this!> I danced around, so happy I almost laughed. For once since the zoo was destroyed, I was really happy.

And I was even happier that I had such great friends.

Several hours had past. Emily's happiness over the Moonlight fix was evident even as the sun began to set. I hugged her and smiled. <What are friends for?>
I turned to Nightfall and took his hand. <Come with me.> I led him far away from the others, to the edge of the forest, where I bid him sit. I stared dreamily into the sunset for a while.

Such great friends... my family... and now Nightfall... even a strange being such as myself can find magic...
"Eclipse?" Nightfall's voice softly broke into my mind.
<Hm?>
"Thanks for helping me back there. For showing me that I can do something worthwhile with myself."
I looked into his eyes. <But I didn't really do anything. You discovered that yourself.>
Nightfall's gaze held mine as I sudden began to feel different. He smiled. "Are you so wise? I would never have even thought there was hope for me. But then I saw you... you, so much like me..."
I quietly said, "Am I... inspiring?"
"You have a lovely voice. You should speak more often."
I would have blushed. "Thank you."
Both of us turned to watch as the final rays of light gave way to the darkness in which our bodies were more comfortable.

"Eclipse?"
"Yes?"
"Do you feel it?"
"Yes."
"Magic."
"Of course."

As the sun started to go down Eclipse leed whatshisname-Nightfall or whatever away from the rest of us. With diffuculty Jason followed along. It was easy enough but the broken leg made it a bit harder. When they reached the clearing he climbed up into a tree right above them to listen.
Ohmigosh! Ohmigosh! I like spying on people! He thought. But while he was thinking he became a bit distracted and his hand slipped. He almost fell out but managed to hang on. Pulling his arm up to wipe the sweat off of his face he thought, Phew! That was close! But now he had both of his hands off of the branch. A Furret poked it's head out of the tree just then and startled Jason. He jumped back, sort of, but never actually left the branch. But... he lost his balance and tumbled out of the tree. Right next to Nightfall.

Nightfall turned, startled. "Wha-?"
I looked sharply at the spy. <Jason, what are you doing here?>
Nightfall stood up and walked over to Jason. "You spying on us?"
I sensed Nightfall's temper rising. <Calm down. I'll handle this.>
As my friend so much like me returned to my side, I spoke to Jason. <I really would appreciate it if you wouldn't spy on us. But... if you must... stay hidden.>

Jason looked a little surprised that I was telling him he could spy as long as he didn't show up again, but he went back to the tree, out of Nightfall's sight.
"Don't worry about it, Nightfall. Jason does things like that."
The final sunray disappeared over the horizon and the moon shone beautifully in the sky.
"Isn't it magical?" I scooted closer to Nightfall.
"The night is so sad for a human but so happy for an Umbreon..." he contemplated. "So perfect..."
"Perfect?"
"Perfect for..." He put his arm over my shoulder. I didn't shove it off.
"For what?" I prodded.
"...mm... for love." Nightfall looked at me to see how I took his finally finished sentence.
"Oh, Nightfall..." I rested my head on his strong shoulder as we gazed at the night sky. The stars seemed to bid us two and the others luck and happiness.

I just smiled.

Now Jason was crouching in the bushes.
Man, I wish I had video camera! First thing I do when I have the chance is buy a video camera. The savings I got from Mum should be enough!
He watched silently as Eclipse leaned up against Nightfall.
Wait a sec! What is this in my pocket?! It's been there but I never had time to see what it was! Jason thought, pulling whatever it was oout of his pocket. Gum...
Night is sad for a human? He's right... its giving me the creeps right now. Jason thought as he awaited more blackmail that he could tell Emily later.

I waited until Eclipse and Nightfall disappeared. I smiled. I rose into the sky again. This would be a good chance to exercise my stiff wing. I stayed in one spot for a moment. A wave of sadness swept over me. Eclipse and Nightfall, both Umbreots, which meant they could do the same things. That meant they would fall in love, and then it'd be just me and Jason. I sighed and flew over the treetops. I thought I'd have a little fun. A Rattata was walking along the foerest floor. I swooped down and snapped at it. It shot across the ground. I laughed. I lighted down and glared at the Rattata. It squeked with fright.
I guess since I'm gonna be a Charizard for the rest of my life, I'd better act like one and hunt. I stood for a moment, waching the Rattata. I lifted my foot and off it went. I shot after it, my claws poised to grab it. It ran as fast as it could, but I was faster. I plucked it off the ground and flew back to our "camp". Jason was no where to be seen.
"Wonder where he went. Oh, well, I'm hungry." I started a fire and grabbed my dead Rattata, placed it on the fire, and laid down to look at the sky. It was a full moon and lots of little stars surrounded it.
Eclipse and Nightfall are probably lovin' this. I wish I had someone to love. A tear trickled down my cheek. I sat up and wiped it away.
I must be strong. I'll have to live in the wilderness forever now. I must learn to be a real Charizard. I picked up my dinner and munched on it.
"Well, I hope I can be strong..."

::i knew that would happen::

Even as the beautiful night sky filled my heart with joy, even as Nightfall put his arm around me, I could feel a small tug at my heart. Emily... she may never have this... I felt somewhat sad for her, and I wondered whether I should share the feeling with her.
Nah. It'll hurt even more when she doesn't have it if I do.
"Nightfall?" I said softly.
"Hmm?" He seemed to be floating away on a dream.
"Do you think maybe we could sleep together here? No tricks, of course."
Nightfall looked at me with honest eyes. "Why would I pull anything funny?"
I smiled as he lay down with his wings over him. I followed suit, covering him with my wings, as we watched the night soar over us like so many clouds. He sighed contentedly.

Is it possible that, after so many human years of hate, I could find what I've always wanted in this form?

The rings on our bodies glowed softly at first, then stronger.
"I can't believe it..."
"What, Eclipse?"
"That I found you..."
"Or I you."
"I mean, the night before my friends and I came to the forest, I felt like... just like someone was out there, waiting for me. I thought I'd never find this... and here it is."
Nightfall had no response for that except, "Can I ask you a question?"
"Hmm?"
"What happened to you... before?"
I turned to him. "Are you sure you want to know?" Our eyes met and he studied mine as I studied his.
"Yes."
I did not speak, but closed my eyes. I opened my mind to his and showed him memories. Memories of the battle, of the cage, of the life as a human. Memories that tore my heart into shreds as I relieved them, but he had asked, and I had given him his request.
After I had stopped showing him those things, I looked to him through my own eyes again. He was a little surprised and a little shocked.
"You lived through that?"
I nodded. "Yeah."
"You're okay?"
"Eh... I didn't turn out quite right."
He looked at me and smiled, realizing that at least for the moment I didn't hurt anymore. "That's where you're wrong. You turned out great."
"Are you one of those who always know what to say?"
"Perfect, even."
"Oooo, you are."

As the night slipped toward the dawn, we drifted off to sleep, and my dreams were filled with this new feeling. Lonliness lurked around every corner, but now our combined bioluminescene was lighting both of our lives.
I could have been considered a mutant or freak. I thought myself the luckiest girl alive.
