Project PS; The Pokemon shifter case, part 1:

The raticate staggered backwards, his hitpoints nearly gone. He glanced to Coran, who rushed forward, catching him in her arms. She picked up his pokeball and returned him immedietly; he vanished in another flash, leaving Coran and Rave standing alone.

She glanced to her houndoom he was still growling, a dark look in his eyes. He glanced up at her, his gaze full of suspect. {Coran... We've got to get out,} he whsipered, over the bedlam that was a large-scale pokemon battle, {And soon. Some knows you're here. I'm gonna go inside and have a dig around.. see if I can find our target. Pakka can handle it.}
Then he vanished, his tail waving. Coran sent out another pokemon, an Arbok this time. She hissed fiercely, and lunged forward, chewing up a bunch of rattata as she went.

With the Raticate defeated, the Machoke now turned its eyes towards Teioh, cracking its knuckles and grinning in a sadistic manner.

"Machoke!" the captain called, spurred by finally achieving a victory of sorts "Vital Throw!"

The fighting pok?mon lunged forward, pinning Teioh down while boy-Umbreon was preoccupied with a Weezing in front of him. The impact briefly knocked the air out of his lungs, leaving him to stare dazed at the opponent towering above him.

"Now, Cross Chop!" called the captain, and the Machoke, it's grin even wider than before, raised it's arms up in preparation for the final strike.

OOC: Ohh...Teioh in trouble. XD I'll help him out myself if no-one else will.

"Pakka, use Wrap!" Coran shouted, her eyes falling on Teioh. One cross chop would finish a dark type pokemon... and she didn't want to think about what might happen if he fainted.

The arbok dived, wrapped itself around the machop, binding his arms to his body. She hissed loudly, her long violet body constricting tighter. Pakka was in far better condition than her Raticate friend - her scales were still lucid and shiny.

"Teioh, move!" Coran hissed, jumping forward and scooping him up. She struggled with his weight, and practically threw him onto the ground. she just prayed umbreons always landed feet-first

"Thanks..." Teioh said telepathically, regaining his balance with only a small amount of staggering. He shot a quick feeling of gratitude to Coran and Pakka before returning his attention to the battle. The captain's Machoke seemed quite preoccupied with the Arbok holding it at the moment.

"Don't be such a wuss!" the captain exclaimed, stamping the floor in irritation "Break free of that grip and use Seismic Toss!"

As the Machoke exerted the full capacity of its muscles in order to break free of Pakka's grip, Teioh would have like nothing more than to just leap into the battle and help, but he had been severly weakened by his dust up with the fighting pok?mon and trembled ever so slightly just out of the effor of staying upright.

Come on Teioh... he told himself, his hearing seemingly obscured by the sound of his own blood rushing through his veins, Do something... the boy-Umbreon was suddenly overwhelmed by a by now rather familiar sensation as the world momentarily turned into a blurr in front of his eyes and a white light encased him.

As his vision returned, Teioh was no longer surprised to find himself in the possession of a forked tail. In fact, he relished it, knowing the perks that came along.

{Hey you!} Teioh called over to the Machoke who was slightly startled by this new voice {Catch!}

The newly changed Espeon fired a Psybeam straight at the fighting pok?mon's head, knocking it into a confounded daze and damaging it quite badly.

Coran stared at the umbreon-espeon in shock.
"Pakka," she called huskily, struggling to think straight, "Use....Toxic!" she called eventually. A wave of posion washed over the pokemon, narrowly missing Teioh, Growlithe and the others, and drenching the LG pokemon in the sickly, foul smelling liquid that Pakka had conjured.

She turned to Teioh, trembling again. "How...did that... you okay?" she asked eventually. She couldn't seem to think straight!

However, her houndoom reappeared a moment later. He know had something that looked like a packet gripped in his mouth, and was looking slightly battered. {There's loads of bottled water in there... and not much else.... I've got the feeling we've been attacking the wrong building.} He dropped the package by Coran's feet. It was wrapped in paper, but Coran could see it contained pokeballs. She didn't bother asking where he got the package from, or how he got in and out so fast. She had learnt it was best not to.

Rave glanced at the new espeon Teioh. {You smell like Teioh.} he said, not realising how stupid he sounded.

"I'm fine..." Teioh replied to Coran's inqury. Although in truth he was just as wounded in this shape as he had been while still an Umbreon, he kept a brave face nonetheless. "Sorry I didn't tell you about this...condition of mine. But we were a bit rushed and it slipped my mind. I'll explain everything when were safe." he turned to Rave.

{Yeah...} he replied, locking his completely unchanged eyes with the Houndoom's {I get that a lot. And that water isn't quite what it seems.} he added, pointing out the package {But this isn't really the time nor the place for such explanations. Suffice to say that you don't want to drink that stuff.}

The boy-Espeon turned to blast an incoming Grimer with a Psybeam, sending the poison type on a merry little flight through the air which ended at the closest wall, accompanied by a dull 'splat' sound.

OOC: >.> Hm... methinks you guys probably post at different times than me since you're on the other side of the world. ^^; What time is it where you, Ego, and you, Charon, are, anyway? Just out of curiosity. Right now over heree it's about 6:40 in the morning.

Mara & Squirt
---------------------

Squirt would have said something to them, but it was really weird... her a human? Would they even believe her? However, Limpy said something to her and Teioh had overheard it.

Growlithe had too, and he had also figured it out. This was why he hadn't been fighting with the others, he had taken post in front of Squirt to make sure that none of the fighting pokemon would hurt her.

The Captain had begun to look a bit nervous after Teioh's transformaton, and with good reason considering his best pokemon had just gotten beaten badly.

Mara stood silent hoping the others would do okay. She was so frazzled, she felt about as confused as Coran looked. Speaking of which, Mara decided to walk over to Coran and help her if she needed it.

"It's okay Coran," Mara said, trembling herself, "Oh and about Teioh, he used to be an Espeon when he first was transformed... so it's not that strange." Though as she said it she realized how strange it must have sounded anyway.

Seth looked over in time to see the bag of pokeballs and water. "You defnitely do not want to drink that! That's the water that turns people into pokemon! And I would assume those pokeballs are for capturing you once you're a pokemon," he said loudly.

Squirt stomped her foot, "Get 'em Limpy! Get 'em Biggs!" She was definitely gonna cheer for her new friends. Then she looked to the others. This would be the time to tell them she guessed... Growlithe seemed to already know.

"Guys!" she waved, "Guys it's me, Squirt! I-- I... uh," she wasn't really sure how to say 'I'm a human!'.

OOC: Current time; 5:10 PM. Methinks England is 3 hours behind so it would be 2:10 PM over there. Could be wrong though...^^

IC:

Limpy? Biggs? Teioh turned his attention to the Slowbro who was dealing out Focus Punches left and right while a grey-furred Rattata kept their opponents busy by biting and insulting them. And Squirt? he looked up at the girl. With his senses at full power in his psychic form it was easy to discern the truth of the matter. Squirt had been a shifter all along! Just like him! And his friends were alive, both of them!

"You guys!" Teioh called out to his friends, his mindvoice now bursting with excitement "She's telling the truth! That's our Squirt, I can sense it! And Limpy and Biggs are with her as well!"

OOC: That's so weird... I've always found it facinating that one person can be sitting down to dinner soon as another is waiting for 8:00 in the morning to come so she can watch Yugioh... Heh, look at me I sound like a 5 year old! ^^

Mara and Squirt
----------------------

Mara gasped. "That's Squirt!" she yelled, pausing for a moment, "Then let's get out of here!"

They had the upper hand, now would be a good time to escape before more reinforcements came.

Squirt smiled a little. "Yeah... um, I'm me; though I'm not me," she replied, looking over to Teioh, "You look a lot smaller from up here. Though I bet when you get turned back into a human you'll be bigger than me again."

Seth nodded, "Yeah, let's get out of here. Teioh, Mara, Coran, come on, let's run for it but keep the pokemon out to hold off anyone that tries to stop us."

Feeling relieved for finding Squirt, but slightly fearful that they still had the daunting task of escaping, Mara turned around and prodded Coran.

"Come on Coran, let's go," she said to the girl. Coran had fought beside them when she could have easily turned them in, and Mara was forever grateful to her for that.

"Well, you look a lot larger from down here." Teioh replied to Squirt, relief evident in his mindvoice "But I'm glad you're safe, Squirt." he took a thoughtfull pause "You don't mind if I still call you that, do you?"

{Still alive? Well I'll be buggered...} Limpy muttered, scuttling over to Teioh and assuming a position on his back {Giddyup Espeon-boy! And don't drop me this time!}

{Hey old man, you were the one who asked for it!}

{Did I?} Limpy asked, feigning ignorance {I can't seem to remember...nope, all gone...gah, amnesia!}

{How very convenient.} Teioh replied sarcastically, ready to follow the others out.

{Wait for me!} Biggs called, lumbering forward as fast as his bulky body would allow him while the captain was looking like he was about to have a nervous breakdown. Teioh would have felt sorry for him if he didn't know what kind of person that man was.

Coran still looked shaky - she had remained silent while Teioh, Limpy, Squirt and Biggs re-introduced themselves, and couldn't even bring herself to utter a word when Mara came to comfort her. She managed a weak nod, and smiled at Squirt.
"Nice to finally meet you. Though, I must say, I imagined you'd look different." she smiled a gentle, tender smile, before placing a hand on her forehead.
"I think we need to leave... now..." she said, in strained, hoarse voice. Someone had been calling her name, she knew it... that wasn't a good sign.
Rave nodded, understanding the real reason for her fright. He couldn't tell the others, though...they'd probably think even less of her.
{They'll be calling for back-up, and they'll probably bring in the executives... I think we should lie low for a while, then figure out our next move.} he shot Squirt a stern glance, before continuing. {We need to destroy the water...somehow... we could burn down the warehouse, but A: it's water, and B, even if we did destroy it they can easily make more. We need to find the source.}

ooc| It's 18:41 here now. I went to the cinema to see Pride & Prejudice, it's a wonderful movie. Kiera Knightly did a fantastic job, well done that girl!

I'm used to time distances...my best online friend and I are six hours apart... we take it in turns, she comes on early in the morning and I come on in the afternoon some days, and some days I go on really late at night so she's on in the afternoon, so we don't miss too much sleep. The problem is, when you're roleplaying at 2 AM, and your characters are in a life and death situation, it gets really surreal. You're so tired you start crying on the keyboard... xD

OOC: Heh, my estimate was off by one hour then. Ah well...
Oh, and I know all about time difference RPing. One of meh good RPing friends, Plushie lives in a timezone eleven hours ahead of mine but since she's a master at sneaking of to the computer after hours we have managed to put up pagelong posting sprees in one go. XD

IC:

"Agreed." Teioh replied to both suggestions, giving Coran a worried glance. The girl still looked shaky and seemed to be preoccupied with something. His Espeon form would certainly have allowed Teioh to pry such secrets had he wished, but that struck him as something very rude. She would tell them in her own time, this he was confident of and for the moment there were other things to worry about. Such as the fresh contingent of guards gathering in the corridor.

"Go!" he called out to his friends, utilizing his new form to create a translucent barrier, easily identified as the Reflect technique, to temporarily cut off pursuit. "I'll hold them off for as long as I can and catch up with you later!"

This seemed to stir Coran.
"No!" she said, stamping her foot, and seeming very young all of a sudden. "How can you honestly think we'd leave you?" She looked to Mara, Seth, Biggs, Limpy and Squirt for support. "Look at you, you're injured. You're the one that should be running!" She nodded at Rave and Pakka.

The Houndoom and Arbok moved to stand either side of Teioh, both looking paticularily formidable. Rave shook his head viciously, and Pakka flared herself up as much as she could do, waving from side to side.
Coran tucked the package in her bag... she may have stopped batting for the dark side, but that didn't mean she wasn't interested in easy money. She was flushed red now, and her lip had a white patch on it were she had been biting it, but there was something in her eyes. As if she had found inner strength. I'm not letting anyone fight my battles anymore, she shouted in her mind, I'm not going to run and leave my friends behind!

Teioh turned around in surprise at Coran's protest. Looking into her eyes, he once again noticed something hauntingly familiar. That inner fire, just like what he had felt when he made his decision to protect Mara and Seth with his life, when he swore never to run again.

"But I can't run." the boy-Espeon protested "I promised, promised myself never to leave my friends to save my own skin! Not after what happened to Limpy and Biggs!"

{Aww...ain't that sweet.} Limpy commented in his usual cynical manner {You remind me of the daughter your parents never had. Now how about this? We all run!}

{good idea.} Rave growled, and wandered back over to Coran. {Come on, young lady...} he said, in his fatherly voice, {let's get you home...} He nudged her, perhaps a little harder than he meant to, and she stumbled off in the opposite direction.
"O-okay..." she muttered, and turned to look at Teioh. "But only if he comes too... The reflect should hold up for about... a minute or so... maybe Pakka can use Toxic to cover our tracks?" she asked.

{Oh he's coming.} Limpy said, {Either that or he'll be feeling my fangs in his backside. Giddyup Espy!}

"Alright..." Teioh replied, reinforcing the blockade with a fresh Reflect technique before setting of after Coran, Biggs and the others doing as much "And yes, maybe that would work." he added thoughtfully at the girl's suggestion "Although I think that we only need to get into the more civilzed areas before they give up the chase. After all, I doubt that they'd want to draw suspicion to their activities."

Coran nodded. She returned Pakka, who honestly couldn't do much running, and broke into a mad dash. She had got in from behind the warehouses, rather than from the front, where there was a lot more tree coverage... but from this direction, she could see houses, and some sort of department store. She hoped she was going in the right direction; Rave loped calmly beside her, hardly breaking a sweat.

Despite his injuries, Teioh picked up a decent pace and was soon running alongside Coran and Rave. Limpy, whose injured leg wouldn't allow him very much mobility, was holding on to the furr on the Espeon's back, enjoying a free ride. As they entered the streets, the first rays from the morning sun met with Teioh, mending his wounds and returning his energy. The boy-Espeon suddenly felt a new spring in his step, as if he had just woken up from a refreshing nap, and no longer had any problems in keeping up with the others. In fact, it was almost an enjoyable experience.

{Uuuurghh!} Biggs exlaimed, pressing himself to move as fast as he could, which resulted in a cumbersome jogg. Sometimes being a Slowbro was a real pain.

Coran glanced back at Biggs. "Is he okay?" she asked Teioh quietly.
She couldn't help but grin, seeing the espeon's leaping gait. Coran found herself relishing in his happiness; now the sun was shining, it was as if he had been born again.

Rave was squinting irratably; sunlight just wasn't his thing. {We can stop inside the pokecenter... book a private room, regroup, get healed... then we can try and figure out what our next move would be.} Rave was evidently in high spirits - planning attacks on criminal organisations was his favourite job, and always had been. After what those rockets did to us... he thought bitterly, they deserve it....

{You alright there, Biggs?} Teioh called out over his shoulder, sending a wide grin to the Slowbro who was stubbornly maintaining his jogg and recieving a grunt of acknowledgement in return. Apparently, Biggs was determined to become as mobile as he could. {Well, if you say so!} the boy-Espeon replied cheerfully.

Teioh turned his attention back to Coran, noticing that the girl was smiling again. "He says he's fine." he informed her, "Got to admire his determination." This was such a beautiful moment, so full of hope and hapiness that the boy-Espeon wished that they could just hold on to it, stay in it, and forget about LG inc., his own past, and everything else that was dark and dreary in the world. But he knew that these things never lasted, and Rave, who apparently wasn't nearly as appreciative of the sunlight as he was, was quick to return him back to the earth.

{Yeah, lying low was actually what we were planning until Squirt got abducted. Seth knows a place. Don't worry Rave, we'll get them. But for the moment, just relax, alright? It's not healthy to brood too much.} Teioh resumed his enjoyment of the sunlight for a few more minutes, knowing that it would probably be long until he could next have a moment like this, maybe this could be the last one he would have. Regardless, he was intent on enjoying it to its fullest.
