Project PS; The Pokemon shifter case, part 1:

"I'm not sure if going into the wild will do us any good." Teioh commented, still purposefully ignoring the Magmar. "If anything, it will make us easy prey. I'd suggest heading into the big cities instead, somewhere where people are a bit...eccentric. Where we can blend in easily. And I don't intend to run." he added, unfaultering determination evident in his mindvoice "I've been running for all my life and never gotten rid of my tormentors. Besides, countless people will end up suffering if we don't act. We have to stop them."

{Yeah...} Biggs concluded, lumbering along as fast as his newly filled stomach would allow him {...I want to get even.}

{If anyone cares, I'm for that as well.} Limpy said, {I didn't spend four years in a prison cell just to spend all of my hard-earned freedom tromping about the wilderness, thank you very much.}

"You know..." Teioh added thoughtfully, the tone in his mindvoice making it clear that what he was about to suggest was something he would rather have avoided "Maybe we should head to Suncrest City. There are so many tourists about that we could blend in with the crowd, just as long as we stay clear of the local gossip circle, and it's normal for people to keep their pok?mon outside of their pok?balls around there so we shouldn't draw too much suspicion. We could try to find out some more about LG inc. while we're at it as well."

Coran shook her head. "Don't be silly, your shorts are lovely!" she then frowned, and said in a darker voice: "And you can't see my knickers!" For a moment, she simply glared at the ground irritably, waiting for someone to challenge that remark, but as no one did, Coran ploughed on.
"The Suncrest City is a great idea. We could maybe rent a cheap apartment? Or stay with your parents..." she winked at Teioh, knowing very well how her own parents would react if she turned up on the doorstep with this lot in tow.

Rave growled slightly. {It's gonna be getting cold in a month or two, anyway. Pretty soon, we wouldn't be able to stay outside without freezing to death. Even now, the nights are chilly - if you guys wanted to stay warm outside, you'll either need a lot of hot water bottles, or act like penguins. Renting an apartment...or even staying in a motel... is our best best.}

"Maybe we can gather some information, and figure out where the water's coming from?" she exclaimed, clapping her hands.

At Coran's darker remark, Teioh wisely kept quiet, not having checked up on this particular piece of information and not feeling quite low enough to do so. "Oh yes..." Teioh replied sarcastically as the subject switched to their lodgings "I'm sure dad will be overjoyed. Anyhow, I agree with Rave here, there's no way we could make it once the cold season sets in. Which is also a perk for going to a coastal town." he added, remembering the warming qualities that the sea possessed as long as it didn't freeze, at which point it kept the springs chilly seemingly forever instead. "And yes, I was thinking of getting some information actually." the boy-Espeon added "I think I know a few sources in Suncrest worth checking, not everyone there is close-minded. I'll elaborate once we get there. That is..." he added, turning to Mara, Seth, and Squirt "If you think it's worth going for?"

Coran sat down beside Rave, hugging the big dog around his neck. They had been through so much together, this was just another rung on the ladder.
She began to tick off things on her fingers; they would need a place to stay, preferably cheap; they would need jobs, to earn some money; they would need food, for the humans and the pokemons, and then they'd need information. Otherwise, all those other things would be worthless and the trip would be pointless. It was a risk; if they screwed up, they'd be right off the map, with no leads, and be a long way from anywhere. But if they did it right... maybe everyone could get back on their feet, working honest jobs, and then get revenge for what the LG corp did to their lives.
Not that she wanted revenge, Coran thought: they bought everyone together, after all, and she almost wanted to thank them. There were probably countless people out there that preferred their pokemon selves, as well... but, like the magmar, not everyone would be happy with this change. Coran paused for a moment, putting a finger to her lips. What if it was me? Coran thought, Would I want to stay a pokemon? her eyes fell on Teioh. If he was with me, I don't think I'd mind. She blushed at these thoughts. What was she turning into some idiotic fangirl? She cursed under her breath.

OOC: Ah, I feel much better now that I ate lunch. Peanut butter's alright... though I didn't have enough money for a drink, and now my mouth's all sticky... >__<

Mara & Squirt
-----------------

"I like Teioh's idea," Squirt said, smiling, "At any rate it sounds better than eating worms and berries and freezing to death."

Mara nodded too. "I agree as well. Let's get to Suncrest. At least there we can do something about LG instead of just hide. Though... it will be dangerous getting there," she added, puzzling over the thought.

Growlithe raised an eyebrow, "Well, if we agree that being near loads of people is what is best, then I suggest we take the train again. Besides, it will give us a private compartment, and many people take it. The bus would be too long, and they could easily hijack it if they wanted. Trains have a lot more security and places to hide from anyone we don't want to see."

Squirt wondered if they could find an apartment for them all. There were four of them plus Growlithe, Teioh, Rave and not to mention Limpy and Biggs. That was quite a lot for a small apartment to inhabit. Hopefully Suncrest would have a good deal of big places for them to rent for cheap.

Not to mention, where on Earth would they get the money they need to live on? Mara's parents always sent her a monthly electronic payment to use for living expenses, but that wouldn't nearly be enough for all of them. Squirt suddenly pictured herself working at a human job. How strange!

OOC: Woah... I think I've been reading too many posts from England... did I just say "loads of people"? XD American's don't talk that way... Though, I kinda like it. ^-^

Coran gasped. "A train? Wow, I've never been on a train...It will be just like the train in Barry Trotter!" In all honesty, Coran had never travelled by anything accept pokemon. She hadn't even gone in a car before; she had been brought up traditionally, and that meant doing things the old ways. She had seen them, of course, and read about them in books, but her parents refused to use anything that replaced pokemon.

She yawned quietly, cupped her hands over her mouth. "A-a-and... we can maybe rent a house... there's bound to be loads of ramshackle places up and down the front.... they won't cost much a month... I c-c-can work." she mumured, struggling to throw off her fatigue. "Though... I wish we could camp. It always seems like loads of fun."

ooc| yay for weird english phrases!

"You've never been in a train?" Teioh asked curiously, wondering who on earth Barry Trotter was (OOC: Unlike me XD) "Well, your in for quite the experience then." he smiled slightly at the memory of his own first train trip. It had been a bumpy, disorienting, and altogether quite confusing ordeal, but it had nonetheless left a deep impression upon him. "And don't worry about the lodgings." the boy-Espeon added "I think I know where we can find a place to crash. If you don't mind it being a bit on the odd side, not bad mind you, just...odd, much like it's owner. She's a good person though, and an old friend of mine. I'm sure there will be no problems once we get there...but for now." he added, Coran's drowziness not escaping his attention "We really need to get back to the pok?mon center and get some rest. We've been up for almost two full days now. It shouldn't take too long to get there, though." and sure enough, the familar red roof of the pok?mon center came into view, only a few buildings away. They would arrive pretty soon, and get rid of their unwanted companion.

{About...time...} Biggs muttered drowsily. His hefty meal, considerable moving (at least by Slowbro standards), and general Slowbroness had finally caught up with him and were now insisting on a rest.

ooc| he's copyrighted! =o lol

Coran nodded. She had no problem with odd. As long as it was warm...and had a bed... oh, and doors. That would be helpfull. She shrugged, as if to throw off the drowsiness, but it just kept coming. Every time she blinked, it was pure torture to open her eyes again.

Rave nuzzled her, in what he hoped was an encouraging manner. {Not long now...} he muttered, but he needn't have bothered. Once she spotted the red roof, she put on a spurt of energy. She was desperate to get inside, and get to sleep. Every inch of her body ached.

OOC: Heh, Barry Trotter? Yay, more English-ness! XD

Mara & Squirt
----------------

"Well let's get going then. If we're going to rest then it'll have to be only for a little while. We'll have to get to Suncrest pretty fast though so that we don't get into anymore trouble here," Seth suggested, "I mean, we've only been in this town for a short time and already we've been had way more than our share of run-ins with LG."

Growlithe turned and looked over Squirt. He felt really foolish about how he had acted earlier, and kept scolding himself mentally for it. Squirt saw him approaching her and leaned over to pet him on the head. Actually, she did it without even really thinking about it.

"It's kinda weird to pet you Growlithe!" she admitted with a chuckle, "I never would have pet you as a Squirtle though; that would have been even weirder." Growlithe mentally shrugged and then nodded.

{I do agree with Teioh though, rest is better than nothing. After all, I don't think they would be foolish enough to attack us under Nurse Joy's watchful nose. Plus there are just too many trainers around there. They would need a lot of people to counterattack all those trainers,} he said, looking to the door.

OOC: Meh, have to go to my History of Russia class. Goodness, I like learning about Russia, but my teacher... she's just so... boring... I come so close to falling asleep in every class. I would just not go, but a few classmates have already seen me today, and I've already missed two others (one because I didn't want to fall asleep, and another because I had an enormously BAD case of the hiccups, and I didn't want to disturb my class every 10 seconds...). Oh well, here's to an hour and a half of boredom.... -_-

OOC: Indeed! XD And yeah, subjects can be a real pain if the teacher is...you know...-_-
Well, hope you don't nod off too conspiciously. ^^

IC:

Finally here... Teioh thought as they entered the pok?mon center lobby and headed upstairs to their room. Crampped though it was, the boy-Espeon doubted wether any of them would be energetic enough to take it as an issue. Biggs certainly wasn't, the others had practically had to drag him up the last flight of stairs as he had nodded off, although the Slowbro seemed to have taken up a kind of lumbering sleepwalkers gait after a while, the Shellder on his tail seemingly guiding his steps, it's eyes still indifferent and unblinking. Teioh found himself absent-mindedly wondering if that peculiar appendage had some kind of independent will as they squeezed into their room with some difficulty. If it did, it certainly didn't seem to show it. Wonder how it feels... he thought for himself ...to have two pairs of eyes...

The boy-Espeon, although slightly more energetic than the others, was too sleepy to contemplate further on the matter however, assuming his place on the window sill and attempting to shift into a comfortable position.

"Good night everyone." he called out in a quiet mindvoice, not wanting to cause too much of a stirr, although he doubted that he would get to sleep as fast as the others as he shuffled once more in an attempt to make his position less uncomfortable.

ooc| That's Coran's version of our fantastic wizarding friend. It's odd thinking that you're at school, while I'm practically falling asleep at the keyboard. I can hardly type, and it's not even that late.

Coran, ignoring the others, waved noncommitedly. "I'm going to sleep." she said, in a dead pan voice, and stumbled into their room. She threw herself on the bed, on top of the covers, fully clothed, not even bothering to take her shoes off. She closed her eyes for a second, and just like that, she was asleep, flat on her back.

Rave looked at the group apologetically. {She'll sleep like a log now,} he laughed, {She'll stay awake for days and then sleep without a sound for hours. You won't be able to wake her up if you sit a rhyhorn on her chest.} He stared at her quietly, before shooting Teioh a warning glance, as if expecting the boy-espeon to try it. He growled a warning, before he turned to Mara, Seth and Squirt. {I guess I don't fit in the room... maybe one of you humans could return me to my ball?} he asked. Even standing in the doorway, it was obvious there wasn't enough room for him to sleep between the beds. He nodded to the ball on Coran's belt, and suddenyl wished his trainer was a bit more able.

OOC: There's actually a rather, *Ahem* low-class piece of 'litterature' called 'Barry Trotter and the unwanted sequel', although as I recall the back cover text on that claimed that name to be a copyright of Walt Disney so I suppose it doesn't matter too much...

IC:

Teioh returned Rave's glance with a quizzical look. What was the Houndoom expecting him to do? The boy-Espeon's tired mind wasn't working quite clearly and he couldn't seem to decipher this particular dilemma, even though he had a feeling that the answer was right beneath his nose.

"Oh, of course." Seth said, fairly confident that he had caught Rave's meaning as he unclipped the ball from Coran's belt and returned the Houndoom into it before returning the object back to its proper place. "Well, I'm going to sleep too, good night everyone." the boy stiffled a huge yawn, his companions' weariness having caught up with him, and settled down for the night as well. Although he did take of his shoes first.

{Whatever...} Limpy muttered, finding himself a comfortable spot in the corner of one of the beds and curling up in it, not really caring wether the person who would occupy it would mind him doing so or not.

Biggs didn't respond at all, sound asleep as he already was, although his tail did seem to give of something that might have been a wave as he lumbered of into the bathroom.

The room was very dark. It was also very quiet, apart from the occasion bump from the room above, as someone dropped something, or maybe jumped off their bunk bed. Coran shivered, and hugged her pillow, and that was about it.

Coran slept on, oblivious to this other-wordly apparation Teioh was seeing. In her own mind, she was lost in dreams.

The sky was light violet, spreading forever. It was empty of clouds, and only dark peuce mountains were visible on the horizon. In the dream world, Coran stood alone on the orange ground. Rave was no where to be seen. Shapes were floating in the sky in front of her....what were they? Glowing, yellow orbs stood on tall black poles, balencing on a pin-prick and clasped in a vice that held them to nothing.
...And still, there were the shapes.

The dream-Ccoran walked forward, her fingers outstretched, and sh she drew closer, the shape defined. A Houndoom... Rave... lay suspended in mid-air, frozen in a arching leap. His eyes were blank. Coran reached out, touching his fur, and then he changed, and suddenly Seth was suspended in his place, lying on his back with his hands to his face. For the second time, Coran and the floating friend made contact, and it changed again, this time into Mara. Coated in blood. The dream-Coran began to scream, shaking and sobbing.{No! Not Mara, please, anyone but Mara!} At her words, the shape switched again, to Squirt now. The girl's body was charred and blackened, and Coran screamed yet again, willing it to change. As if on cue, it did, morphing and skweing until it formed a lithe, agile espeon, and frozen, just like Rave had been. Only Teioh was covered in red, and the dream-Coran screamed again. {No! Don't take my Pokemon! Don't take my friends! Don't take my heart-} The dream blurred, and changed again. Dream-Coran was once more alone.

The real Coran did not move; she didn't make a sound, either, and simply rolling over in her sleep. Her subconcious knew what her waking mind could never comprehend.

{ooc| DUN DUN DUN! Man, I am so Emo. It's late...I'm tired... and I still have to do my Science homework... *cries* The landscape is based on a painting I did at school - I'll scan it in tomorrow, maybe.}

OOC: Well...that was short. XD

Teioh shifted about for a few more minutes until fatigue finally overcame discomfort, his vision blurring into a pleasant mass of obscure shapes and then fading to black as sleep overcame him and his head slumped down onto the window sill, the gem on his forehead still giving of a faint shimmer in the darkness.

Silence...

------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Feeling dreamy, aren't we?" a familiar voice reached Teioh's ears and he quickly rose to his feet, at least in his mind. The boy-Espeon's actual body was still lying where it was, although his feet twitched slightly, his thoughts already having constituted half a command to them.

In his dream, Teioh turned to face the figure in front of him who was, once again, none other than himself, standing in front of him and giving of a slight tutting noice to signify his dissaproval. The boy-Espeon tried to voice something but, as before, he found himself incapable of doing so and took in his surroundings instead. He was standing in the same room that he had fallen asleep in, although it was now cloaked in disturbing shadows, the sleeping bodies of his companions seeming eerie and distorted. The boy-Espeon didn't even dare to glance at the window sill, as he had a feeling that he might see himself there.

"Teioh..." the mirage said, walking over and shaking his head solemnly "I'm dissapointed with you. After all those lovely thoughts you had, the person you decided to call into your dreams was me. Dissapointing, so very dissapointing..." he repeated

I didn't call you!
the boy-Espeon protested in mute fury, still incapable of hearing his own voice. And were you thinking that I'd add Coran into some kind of twisted fantasies or something?! You're disgusting!

"That I am." the mirage replied nonchalantly, chuckling at the boy-Espeon's reaction "But I was born of your mind. What does that say about you, eh? And besides, I notice that you have taken to using a certain 'move' quite often..."

Enough!
Teioh growled silently What do you want?

"What do I want?" the mirage echoed, shaking his head "I'm afraid you've got this the wrong way. You see...the real question here is what do you want? Not that that's really a challenge..." he added, smirking a bit.

Oh yeah? Teioh asked defensively And what would that be?

"Why Coran of course." his mirage replied nonchalantly, "Now don't even bother denying, it's written all over your mind. You want her so bad it's almost pathetic."

That-that's not...I'm not that simple!
the boy-Espeon retorted fiercely, even though he had the distinct impression that his adversary had the upper hand in this.

"Perhaps." the mirage Teioh replied, "Perhaps you are intent on taking down LG inc., or protecting your friends, perhaps pursuing your dream of becoming a pok?mon master as well, maybe you want to go back to being a human...yes, I can see those things in you too Teioh. I know you. I know you better than you know yourself. Every hope, every fear, every doubt, and I know why you called me here Teioh.

I didn't call for you! the boy-Espeon insisted.

"Perhaps not consciously." the mirage replied "But here I am nonetheless, so I might as well elaborate, even though your pointless bickering has left me with little time to do anything else. You called me, created me, because you wanted to learn Teioh." the boy-Espeon's lookalike stated, locking eyes with him "You wish to learn how to control your power as a shifter. And that I will help you with. But alas," he noted with a hint of would-be sadness in his voice "it seems that our time is, as they say up. Until we meet again!" he bowed to Teioh in an over-dramatic manner, the streak of light purple performing a short bow of its own, seemingly independent of the rest of the mirage boy's hair.

Once again, Teioh attempted to voice a protest as many questions had been left unanswered, but this attempt was as vain as the one he had made in his previous 'dream' as this strange helper of his faded into the blurr that seemed to be consisting of the entire environment, a treathening vortext that sucked the boy-Espeon in and pulled him towards his body as the waking world called once more.

*is sleepy and it's only 2:00...* It is weird that I'm at school and you're ready for bed. It's like some sort of time-traveling thing. I'm in the past and you're in the future! @_@

Mara & Squirt
-----------------

"Oh... I don't even remember what sleep feels... like...," mumbled Mara as she drifted off to sleep clutching her pillow. She had drifted off so fast that she hadn't even said goodnight to anyone. Seth looked a bit put out.

"Well... goodnight to you too Mara," he huffed, and turned over in his bed.

Squirt looked around and decided that since everybody had taken all the others, she would have to share with Limpy. She motioned for Growlithe to follow her.

"Looks like we're bunking with Limpy, Growlithe!" she said in a half-whisper, not wanting to disturb her friends. She leapt onto the bed softly. Though it seemed to rock Limpy quite a bit.

"Oops, sorry!" she whispered, noticing the old Ratatta's face after she had almost squashed him, "I forget I'm so big sometimes." She turned to Growlithe.

"Come on! Get in!" she whispered, but Growlithe shook his head.

{The floor is fine for me. You need your room,} he said quietly, turning to look for a good spot.

However, Squirt would not give up and got up off of the bed and grabbed ahold of her friend. She could do that now that she was a human, and although Growlithe protested a bit, he was too caught off guard to do anything about it.

Squirt dropped him onto the bed and then dove down onto it again, rocking Limpy out of his sleep once more. "You're not getting away that easy anymore. Mara might not be bold enough to grab onto you, but I sure am. You're going to sleep with your friends Growlithe, not by yourself and that's that!" she whispered, smiling.

Growlithe sighed, and curled up to go to sleep. Though, it did feel better to be next to someone he cared about as he slept. Oh and Limpy too; he guessed....

OOC: How about you just edit the dream-thingie into the short post and delete your later post instead? Because otherwise you're going to make me look like a nasty double-poster. XD

Anyhow, I'm going to go to bed too, just needed a quick shower and decided to check up on the RP while I was on my way since my computer was so handily on (Doing some system maintenance things). See you! ^^

{okay....unless anyone has any objections, of course... should we skip forward to the morning now?}

OOC: Yeah, feel free to start out the morning. I can't do anything else until then anyhow...

The sun rose from the east, sending it's hazy rays drifting through the open window. Dust motes swam lazily through the air. All in all, everything seemed to be right in the world. Birds sang, people went about their daily lives...and an extremely haggard Coran woke up.

She sat bolt upright on the bed, tense and white, and cast her glance about the room. She looked just as tired as she had when she went to sleep. She hadn't slept well, apparently. One shoe had fallen off, her skirt was ruffled and had risen up nearly to her belly button, and her vest top had slipped off one shoulder. "Mornin'..." she groaned, and ran a hand through her bird's nest of a hairstyle.
