"That's good..." she muttered, lowering her voice, "I'm fed up of always looking over my shoulder in case the people from LG are there with a hose-pipe."
She finished off her breakfast, drained her orange juice, and winced, as if expecting something... luckily, nothing happened.
"Is he relative?" she asked. Her relatives were all in Kanto... and they all knew the story fo how she 'broke her mother's heart', so she doubted she'd be welcomed with open arms.

Meanwhile, Rave was frowning at the television. The news anchor was looking paticularily serious, as she passed over the story to her partner. "News just in," he read.

OOC: Oh yes, Teioh's friend is a 'she'. I made a typo a while back and it looks like I forgot to mention it.

IC:

"Well, it's a 'she' actually." Teioh replied "And no, we're not related. Not as far as I know anyway." he threw an absent-minded glance at the television, wondering for a moment if there were any news on that might concern them, before he turned his full attention back to Coran, wondering if she wanted him to elaborate or not.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

{Bah, I think we've been waiting long enough already.} Limpy muttered impatiently, scratching his left hind leg with his right. {If those two bleedinghearts haven't had enough of staring at each other and stuttering incomprehensibly then boo-hoo. I'm hungry.}

Biggs rolled his eyes, only having recently discovered something which the others apparently considered common knowledge. {Take it easy.} he said in his usual patient voice {Mara and Squirt aren't done yet anyway.}

The male newreporter continued, his vocie grave. "There had been two more disappearences from this area, including Steve McCleven, Mary Sandwich and Alice Lamb." three pictures appeared on screen; one was of the pompous business man, who was now a magmar. The other two girls were both young - they looked about five. The man continued to talk, but Rave had heard enough.

"So, could she find us a place to live?" she asked, resting her head on her hand, "because we'll need to set up headquarters...Do you reckon she'd mind lending us some money, too?" Coran still had a couple of thousand left, but feeding everyone three times a day, it would soon run out. She didn't paticularily want to go back to her old ways of raising money...
{Coran!} Rave barked, and he leapt onto her lap. {Two little girls have disappeared now, look!} he shook his had in the direction of the television. For a moment, Coran stared at her pokemon, taken by surprise.

"Her house is huge." Teioh replied, "And her family is more or less constantly absent, I'm sure Rhaine won't mind having us at her home for a while. I used to stay over quite frequently when I got into fights with my parents. We might end up having to do some housework though, a technical genius she might be, but a good house keeper?" he shook his head and grinned "Not if her life depended on it. As for money, she might. Her parents aren't very rich, though. We'll see..."

Teioh turned around as he heard the announcer speak of two more dissapearances, this time two young girls. "Those two..." he said slowly, a frown spreading across his face "...they hardly look older than five. The sooner we stop these people the better."

Coran read the news roll. "They think that business man kidnapped them... Because they were all in the same area and vanished at about the same time." Her brow furrowed. "That's disgusting.... Everyone probably think's 'steve's insane and has a child fetish now. His poor family!" Coran could only imagine what it would be like. Even if that man did get his body back, everyone would think he was some sort of freak.
Rave nodded sollemnly, as if in agreement.
Coran glanced to the stairs. Where were the others? She fought the urge to go and check. That would mean leaving Rave and Teioh alone, and the houndoom obviously had a bone to pick. He may have been a pokemon, but he was smart enough to figure out something was going on.

"Perverts..." Teioh concured with disgust "Sure that guy's a jerk, but he's not a pedofile. To call him that is...just wrong, and his family..." he sighed, remembering what misery misbehaving family member had caused him all the way from Alphimega, he shuddered to think of what Steve's family would have to endure if they lived anywhere within the vicinity. "Why do people have to be such presumptious fools?"

The boy-Espeon was beginning to wonder about the continued absence of their companions as well. Certainly they should have been ready by now?

"I guess their parents were desperate for any sort of explanation." she paused for a second, watching Teioh sadly. "Their beloved girls were snatched; if I was them, I'd blame anyone I could, just to stop myself feeling guilty." she fell silent. Coran had the terrible habit of blurting out her innermost thoughts and feelings.

Rave rolled his eyes. It was a good job she still hadn't realised how she felt about Teioh. Rave knew Coran well enough to know she was fickle, and didn't love easily. She was so sincere when she spoke to Teioh, Rave guessed there had to be something there. She was denying it, that was all.
He watched the espeon as he thought. Rave couldn't wait to lecture him.

Teioh nodded solemnly "True," he replied "People don't tend to think rationally when loved ones are concerned. I'd probably have done as much if I was in their position; go with any lead no matter how iffy or unfounded it was and put pressure on anyone who might even be suspected of witholding something even vaguely important. Not that I'm very likely to end up in such a position, mind you." he took a brief pause.

"Anyhow, I still hate to think what it feels like for Steve's family. I mean if there was someone who honestly loved him, say, his grandma or something, how will she feel when people start speaking of her grandson as if he was a dirty child abuser? She'd probably put on as strong a reaction as the parents of those two girls, which will undoubtedly lead to more people getting accused of and judged for something they haven't done. It's a vicious circle..."

Coran nodded. "It's a odd thought, isn't it?" she continued, "All these mass-murderers, and terrorists, and all the other people that have commited all sorts of similarily horrible crimes.. what happened if they were like Steve and were all just misunderstood?"

"If it was my child... I'd do anything to get her back. I don't think I'd care how many people I hurt, as long as she was safe." she paused, suddenly realising how odd she must have seemed, having such a serious conversation with an espeon.

OOC: Oooh, had a post count of exactly 1700 before I posted this. It looked kind of neat with my age, 17, written right over it. Ah well...XD

IC:

"It's not that simple, I'm afraid." Teioh replied, "Take my dear uncle for instance. He was born into a well-respected and loving family, raised to treat pok?mon as friends and equals, yet he started out a criminal organization bent on conquering the world, seemingly without rhyme or reason." he frowned slightly "There was something off with him since he was a small child as I recall. He used to collect butterflies you know..." he took a pause "...and test home-made toxins on them. They found a whole set of needles for that one hidden in his room a few months after he left home, apparently left behind. And I recall my grandma telling me that he always was obsessed with snakes as well. Anyhow, the problem is that these few truly mad individuals make people disinterested about learning the motives of those who have actually been hurt, since they are assumed not to have any." he took a pause, listening to Coran's later statement.

"That sentiment does you credit." Teioh commented "There are far too many people in this world who are incapable of loving anyone more than themselves. But let's hope that you'll never end up having to prove your words."

"Ah. That leads us right back to the Nature versus Nuture debate, doesn't it? Are we born evil? Or taught how?" Sighing, she leant back on her chair. "We really do live in a crazy ol' world. They say science proves everything, but it some things are still mysteries." she stared into space, lost in thought.
"How well did you know your uncle?" she asked, after a long pause.

ooc| I can't think of anything else to write xP

OOC: Yeah! I'm finally back! >.<

Mara & Squirt
----------------

"Well, after borrowing a few things from Coran's clothes, which I hope she doesn't mind," stated Mara, coming out of the bathroom with a newly clothed Squirt, "We're finally ready to go to breakfast."

She looked over to find Seth, but realized he was now asleep again on Coran's bed. Mara rolled her eyes.

"Oh gimme a break...," she said walking up to him and poking him on his side until he woke up.

"Mmnnn," he said, sitting up, his hair sticking out funny on the side he had been laying on, "Mornin' already?"

"It's been morning Seth, come on, let's get going," Mara said to him, heading for the door, "C'mon Growlithe."

Growlithe didn't need telling, he was hungry enough to eat a Ratatta. He had been gazing at Limpy impatiently talking about leaving and was beginning to feel very hungry.

"Hi Growlithe," said Squirt as they walked out of the room and towards the mess room, "Like my outfit?" She had ended up wearing Mara's long, white skirt, along with a dark brown shirt that came from the bowels of Coran's clothes. Mara had picked it because it didn't look used, so it must not have been one of Coran's favorites.

Growlithe shook his head as he walked, {Not really. I've never liked human clothes.} Of course, Growlithe was always blunt.

"Oh, well, I never have either, it feels weird to have things hanging all over me. A shell was a bit different," she said, looking herself over, "I know it's a bit wrong for me to say this, but I kinda miss being a Squirtle."

Growlithe gave his usual indifferent face. He wasn't sure whether to feel one way or the other on that subject.

"Hi guys," Mara said as she approached Teioh and Coran, "Took long enough. Never thought that Squirt would be so picky in finding clothes she likes."

"Not very well..." Teioh confessed in response to Coran's question "I was born after he showed his true colours after all. We haven't even met in person. What I know of him I've gathered up by listening to relatives and family friends, although he did send a postcard once." the boy-Espeon added "Dad torched it straight off though."

Teioh turned around as he noticed that Mara and the others had finally arrived, not to mention that both Mara and Squirt had taken a change of attire. "That's alright." the boy-Espeon replied "It's not like we're on a particularly tight schedule yet anyway."

Coran giggled to see Squirt in her own outfits. ?Wow, Squirt, I never knew you had such great fashion sense!? she grinned, and patted the seat beside her. ?Sit down, here?s a menu, order some grub!? She handed both Squirt and Mara the menu, which was relatively bare. Then again, it was a pokemon centre, not a gourmet restaurant ? thought most acted like they were everything these days.

She nodded at Teioh?s words. ?At least you can say you were never directly involved. You never know how badly people can influence you until you?re pushed to the edge.? She spoke solemnly, as if from experience.

{Oy, don't forget about me!} Limpy called out, leaping onto the table with a level of agility that was quite surprising for such an old creature, particularly one with a crippled leg. Apparently the old Rattata was capable of performing quite extaordinary tasks if he saw benefit in them, much like his earlier performrance in battle. Call it, mind over matter.

{I wouldn't mind some food either.} Biggs said in his usual calm fashion, sitting down on the floor beside Squirt and looking up towards the menu. {I didn't quite get to finish my meal last night.}

{Like you'd ever get finished eating.} Limpy commented.

"Pushed to the edge?" Teioh echoed, concern evident in both his eyes and his voice once more. Judging by the solemn tone in Coran's voice it seemed obvious that the girl had had personal experience in this field. "No, I suppose I don't know." the boy-Espeon confessed "But if it would help you to talk about it I'd be glad to listen."

Coran handed them both a menu. "You can....read, right?" she asked them quietly. After all, the shift between trainer and pokemon might have damaged their eyes somehow. "Well... just tell me when you want to order."

She pushed Rave off the seat so Mara, Seth and Squirt would have room to sit; she gave a loud grumble and curled up under the table, by her feet. {Stupid humans stealing my seat..." he grumbled.

Flashing Teioh a weak smile, her hands reached out for Rave again. She found the dog immedietly; apparently, he had leaned up to her.
"Somethings I don't want to tell you, Teioh." she told him, "You'd think too lowly of me."

"I see..." Teioh replied, wondering what on earth she could possibly have done that would cause him to think too lowly of her at this point. After all, Coran was a victim of circumstances, probably manipulated by her parents, surely she couldn't be blamed no matter what she had done? "And I can understand that you don't trust me enough to tell me about whatever it is." he added, "It's alright, we are friends and I understand. But if you do feel like telling some time, or if there's something you do feel like telling. Just say so and I'll be glad to listen."

Coran smiled at him. "Oh, Teioh..." she said, her voice wavering, "I trust you... and have more faith in you... than I do anyone else. Except maybe Rave...." She pulled at face at this afterthought, before pulling herself back on track. "But I've done some things I never want to remember... let alone let my new friends know." She watched Limpy and Biggs for a moment, hoping they'd come to their decision soon. "Maybe some day... I'll tell you. Not today, though."

{Melliiiiiiiiisa... *sings* Please post, my dear...}

Mara & Squirt
----------------

As soon as Mara and Seth had eaten some food, and Squirt had eaten hers as well, they sat complacently looking around at one another. Mara was the first to bring up the subject that everyone seemed to be avoiding.

"So... when should we head out?" she asked, looking from Seth to Coran to Teioh, "We're taking the train, right?"

Squirt nodded, "Wow, how are we all going to fit into one of those tiny compartments? Last time we were hard-pressed to find a comfortable position, and that was with only two humans, not four."

Seth nodded in agreement. "If it's the same kinds of seats, we'll have to split into two smaller groups. Let's see; if Mara puts Growlithe away, and Coran puts Rave back, we'll have four humans, and three pokemon. So how about two humans per room, and the pokemon can split whichever way they want," he said, counting people off on his fingers.

Mara looked over to Teioh and Coran. She smiled inwardly, no doubt they'd want to be together.

Coran grinned at Mara's words.
"I'm really looking forward to this. Sad, I know, but I've never been on a train before." she laughed, before putting a hand on her forehead.
"But if we have seperate compartments, we won't be able to scheme!" she exclaimed, still giggling. "We need to plan our next move!"

Rave exhaled sharply. He was annoyed he was being put away... it meant he couldn't be there, to get in the way if Coran or Teioh got too deep. He wanted her to be happy, of course, but Rave knew the boy-espeon would only bring Coran pain. There was little chance of him ever getting turned back, and even if he did, Coran wouldn't accept the new Teioh.
Well, he would have to turn her against him now... He lay back down, lost in thought.

Coran stood up. "Well? Have you guys all eaten? Are we ready to leave yet?" she could hardly contain her excitement, and was grinning manically.
