Project PS; The Pokemon shifter case, part 1:

"That makes two of us." Teioh replied, "And it's not a wonder that you didn't know, most people don't. Rhaine likes to keep a low profile you see, she holds a strong dislike - no, make that a flaming hatred - for the mass media. Says that she'd rather die a pauper than give anything to those crows." he took a brief pause "Which is also another reason why I think it would be a good idea to stay at her place. She's always been considered a bit eccentric too so even our crowd wouldn't attract much attention."

Teion immediately silenced himself as a man's head popped into view, tensing up slightly and preparing for a possible conflict. It turned out to be unnecessary however, as the man was only looking to sell some leftover peanuts and was quite happy to leave when Mara declined the offer. The boy-Espeon nodded in agreement with Mara's last comment, waiting for the man to take a reasonable distance from them before he spoke up again.

"Man..." Teioh commented "Are we maybe being just a bit too tense here?"

Coran had reacted in more or less the same way when the man's head appeared from around the door. What she was more suprised to see, even more than a total stranger wanting to sell peanuts, was how she hand had almost - almost - slipped to Teioh's back. He's not yours, she scolded herself. Whenever he tensed up, she felt to had to reassure him - despite the fact that Teioh was far less tempermental than Rave and did, in fact, know how to handle herself. She managed to pass off her vague hand movements as brushing her hair out of her eyes, though she couldn't help feeling annoyed at herself. Why did she always feel it was up to her to smooth other other people's rough edges? Not that Teioh had many, of course... but she did have this rather embarressing to take the little boy-espeon and caress him until all his troubles had gone away.

She jerked herself back to the then and now just as Teioh spoke.
"Well," she said, putting on an expression of mock disbelief, "We're all on the wanted list of the most powerfull Corp' in this country... and we're travelling hundreds of miles to get to a little sea-side town, in the hope that we can escape their grasp there... I'd say we have a reason to be tense...!" She grinned.

OOC: Gah! I can't think of anything worthy to write... ;_; I think Plushie's curse from ToS (meh, didn't know what to call the adopter RP) transferred over to this RP for me. >_< Her magic is all-powerful you know. Or it could be because it's Friday and my brain is dead. I couldn't even come up with answers in English, when I usually am one of the brightest in my class. Perhaps I'll post a bit later....

{ooc| I expected to come back from bowling to some nice juicy posts or answer.... but nooooo! *sings* Schnappi, Schnappi, Schnappi... das kleine Krokodil! I'm slightly hyper... xD}

OOC: Blame Plushie, it bes her curse. And that-that...THING you are singing! GAAAAAH! O__O Vade Retro Schnappi! *Holds up crucifix* That song is so annoying...-_-

IC:

"Point taken."
Teioh replied, Coran's actions having gone completely unnoticed by him. "But I still believe that jumping up, ready to bolt, at the apperance of every stranger is going to make life awfully difficult. Well, not that it hasn't been tough this far..." he sighed and trailed of for a moment, but soon perked up again. "Oh well, we should be in my little seaside-hometown pretty soon, these trains are awfully fast you know, and we should be able to loose those LG goons for a while." the boy-Espeon descended into a slightly thoughtfull pause, staring out of the window in an absent-minded kind of way as he came to think of something; His family. Should he go and visit them? Would he even be given the chance? What would they say? Would they even believe him? These things Teioh didn't know, and the strange dreams he had had certainly hadn't painted a favourable picture of the homecoming scenario.

{ooc| I found it on the internet last night. It's catchy~!}

Coran was busy peering out of the window, eager for a first glance at the sea. All she could see was trees, fields and miltanks - but at least they were out of the city, speeding through the lush country side.
Then, close to the railroad, she saw them; a family, a father and a mother and their two boys, walking a pet espeon along a river bank. Coran only saw them for a split second, but it was enough; Suncrest was Teioh's hometown, wasn't it?
"Do your parents still live there?" she said suddenly, before returning her attention to the window. "I mean... not that they'd recognise you.... but maybe if we said we were friends of yours... maybe they'd help us out?" she paused, guessing this was a preposterous {sp?} thought.
She glanced back to the window - and nearly fell off her seat. "I see the sea! Oh, I win, I see the sea!" she laughed, and clapped. "Well, that's that then."

{ooc| Heh heh... here, it's a big game, when you drive to the seaside, everyone has a competition on who can see the sea first. It's this stupid tradition that's incredibly fun, and it's been passed down through the generations. Everyone does it in England... what about where you guys are from?}

OOC: Well, I don't know about the East coast of the US, but I don't know of anyone that does that here. My family sorta does that, but it's not an official game. ^^; That sounds fun though! Perhaps I'll start a new tradition. =D

Mara & Squirt
--------------------

Mara smiled, "I always saw the ocean where I was from. Man, if me and my friends had played that game, almost every day we would be hearing shouts of "I saw it first!". Heh."

Mara thought for a moment about Teioh's family. If they were as bad as they said he was, perhaps he should stay away from them; especially being in trouble and on the run as they were. However, sometimes things like this are able to bring a family back together. Though... Teioh's family?

"Think it would be a cheery reunion?" Mara asked, grinning a bit. She tried to keep this talk light.

---------------------

"Train rides seem to last forever...," Squirt complained, leaning back in her seat. Suddenly the door to their room slid open to reveal two younger teenage boys. They looked tired and worn out, and groaned when they saw Seth and Squirt.

"Oh man!" said the first one, who had bushy, black hair, "This one's full too!"

The second sighed, "This whole place is full up. Where are we supposed to sit?!" He had light brown hair.

"Hold on," said black-haired one, "There's only two in here. These places were designed with four in mind! We could squeeze!"

"Oh no you're not!" Seth said, standing up suddenly, "Look we're crowded enough as it is! And we've got two pokemon as well."

"Well then just put 'em away!" said the first, "They're yours arent' they?"

Seth stared a bit. He cast a wary eye at Squirt, and nodded to her, "Alright... just have a seat. It'll be a little cramped though. Our pokemon don't like being in pokeballs." What was he going to do? Turn them away? That would have been too rude and a bit suspicious. It was already looking weird that they had two pokemon that wouldn't return into their pokeballs.

OOC: Hmm...well, I don't think we have it over here in Finland either, but my family often plays a peculiar game when we go to visit our grandparents' summer cottage. On the whole trip points can be gained by spotting things, as I recall the points are as follows;

Blue/Green/Red Car: 1 Point
White/Yellow Car: 3 points
Person on bike: 5 points
Blue/Green/Red Car with a bike attached to the back: 8 points
Black Car: 10 points
White/Yellow Car with a bike attached to the back: 10 points
Black Car with a bike attached to the back: 17 points
Black car with two red canoes attached to the roof (Don't even ask...): 150 points

In the end, the one with most points wins. Yeah, it's a pretty strange game but it's fun enough. XD

IC:

Teioh chuckled at Coran's joy over winning in this little game, even though no-one else had known that it was being played. "That might actually be fun in a way." Teioh commented at Mara's remark "Although I can imagine that the others wouldn't be too thrilled if you dragged them out of bed in order to tell them that you won."

His expression turned more serious as the subject of his family became inevitable "I...don't know." he replied "Mom would love to help out any friend of mine, I'm sure, but dad would probably have none of it. And of course mom must be worried sick by now." he frowned, his tail drooping slightly in indication of him having done something bad "Obviously I'd want to tell her not to but...I'm not sure I want to involve my family in this, you know? They have it hard enough as it is. And besides, if mom did believe it was me...she might not want to let me go anymore." he sighed, turning to look out of the window "I think my homecoming will have to wait until this situation has been solved." he concluded.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Limpy glared at the boy who was attempting to take up his space, {Take on step closer and I'll Super Fang you to kingdom-come you little punk-rocker.} he snarled, showing his sharp front teeth in a treathening manner. Biggs took the situation far more calmly, squeezing his hefty bulk in a bit in order to leave some more room. In truth, the Slowbro acted very much like he had been Squirt's pok?mon all along, sitting beside the girl as he did and smiling in his usual vacant manner while the Shellder on his tail stared down the two youths encroaching on their space. Limpy might have passed for that as well, although he might have been considered more of a new catch than anything else, defiant as he was.

{ooc| I'll try that when we drive down to the seaside in a week's time =D}

Coran nodded. "Well... maybe we could write her a letter? Saying that you're fine, but you've got something you need to do.... to prove yourself, or something." She smiled lightly - her father was always saying things like that. Once he sent her and Rave to the mountains for a weekend. The eight-year-old girl and her little houndour had nearly perished, but somehow they braved through it, and not only did it bring them together... they had proved to themselves that they could do anything they wanted to do.

She peered through the window in the door, only to catch sight of two boys crowding into Squirt and Seth's carriage. "Do you think they'll be okay?" she asked, a slight edge to her voice. "I mean, they look harmless enough..."
She tore her eyes away, and watched the window again.

OOC: Well, good luck with that. XD But wait, does this mean that you will be absent for X amount of days again? Tsk, RPing and real life really don't play nicely with each other. Well, have fun! ^^

IC:

"Yeah, that could be a good idea." Teioh replied, perking up a bit "Although there's still the slight complication that I'm not really in a condition to hold a pen at the moment and a machine written note might seem suspicious." he shrugged "Anyhow, I'm sure I can come up with something. Or failing that, I'm sure Rhaine will, either her or Pixie, although I'd sooner take up an idea from the former."

At Coran's comment, Teioh turned to watch as the two youngsters entered the compartment which Seth, Squirt, Biggs, and Limpy were situated in. "Yeah, I think they'll be fine." the boy-Espeon replied "Seth and Squirt are both resorcefull people, I'm sure that they can handle themselves, especially with Limpy and Biggs to back them up. And in any case there's no way that those two could take all four of them down without us hearing it. Besides, it would look pretty suspicious if we started keeping watch or something."

{ooc| Only for four days... then we're going to a Belgium theme park for two days! xD I'll be home for about an hour in between (no kidding) so I'll reply then... hopefully. I might even get to reply once from my holiday camp place. The problem is, I'm going with a friend. She won't want me spending hours talking to my dearies on here =3}

Coran 'ummed' and 'ahhed' for a bit. She was eager to check on her friends, but Teioh had been right. Checking would be suspicious, for one thing. "Maybe Mara could write it...from her, as your friend." she bit her lip. "I'm sure they'd want to know you were safe and happy. Anyway, who's Pixie? Another friend?" She was beginning to think Teioh was a bit of a social butterfly; when she had first met him, he gave the impression of a lone wolf. Apparently, she was wrong!

She glanced out the window; they were speeding along the coast now, atop a high cliff. Below, waves crashed, and gulls screeched in the sky. She couldn't help but think wistuflly of Fushia City; it had been nice there. Homely.

"Pixie is Rhaine's senior assistant." Teioh replied. He wasn't sure, but there seemed to be an ever so slight change in Coran's tone as she posed the question, one that seemed to suggest that she didn't think of him in quite the same way as she used to "And before you get any ideas, she's a Togetic." he added "A bit of a special case perhaps, but still a Togetic. And a pretty whimsical and cowardly one at that, couldn't fight a battle to save her life." he took a pause, staring out of the window once more "And yes...perhaps that letter idea would work, although I can just picture what conclusion my dad would make of a letter explaining my absence which is written by a girl." he rolled his eyes, "He's a cynic through and through."

"Pfft!" Coran laughed, "Somehow you never struck me as the sort of person that would run off for a girl." She gave him a wry smile.
"Anyway, a togetic, eh? I here they're very rare, and only appear before people of pure heart... or something." she frowned. "Maybe that's Jirachi...? Pokemon are so confusing sometimes! Well, whatever. I know they're pretty shy, so this Rhaine must be a decent enough person, to get Pixie to trust her." Her grey eyes closed for a second, and a faint smile played on her lips. Whatever she was remembering, or fantasising, must of been nice, for when she turned back to Teioh her smile had reached her eyes. "Trust... it's a fickle thing, isn't it?"

"Well, you never know..." Teioh replied ominously to Coran's first comment, "...that might depend on the girl. And yes, Rhaine is a nice person, she is my mom's old bestie after all...and judging by the way Pixie is always singing her praises I think it's fair to assume that she treats her well." the boy-Espeon's tail flicked slowly from side to side as Coran closed her eyes for a moment, as it oftend did when he was pondering something, as was the case this time, whatever thought was inside Coran's head it was obviously a pleasant one as she was smiling when she opened her eyes once more and posed her question.

"That it is." Teioh replied, "And there seems to be precious little of it in the world."

Coran grinned at Teioh's comment, and opened her mouth as if to say something- but changed her mind abuptly.
"That's not strictly true...I trust you," she paused for a second, before speedily adding, "And you, Mara, and Seth, Squirt, Biggs and Limpy." She blushed slightly, but turned to look out the window before anyone could see. "I mean... Mara, you're older than me, and I know hardly anything about you, but I trust you. A few words, that's all most people need to gain the trust of a person. That's all it takes, too, to break trust." Coran turned back to her friends, opening her hands to emphasise her words. "Trust is the most important thing in the world, and it's broken so easily..." she smiled sadly.
"What do you mean by your Mum's old bestie?" she asked, cocking her head to the left in her usual Coran manner.

Teioh nodded at Coran's words, they were all true. This he knew by experience, particularly the breaking part. After all, he had trusted his father, not always liked perhaps, but always trusted, but that all went down the drain that one morning when he said those three simple words; 'I released it.'.

"I trust you too." Teioh replied, his mindvoice emphasizing complete and utter honesty "I trust all my friends, which basically means all of you guys and then Rhaine...maybe Pixie as well. But anyhow, trust is the whole point about friendship, isn't it? I mean, if you can't trust someone...well, then they're not really your friends, are they? At least...that's how I think."

"They're best friends." Teioh replied to Coran's question, once again realizing that most people weren't familiar with the expressions his mom was so fond of using "As I recall, they've been friends since their kindergarten days and seem to have been keeping at least some kind of contact for the whole time. It was Rhaine who suggested moving to Suncrest for a fresh start, and I suspect that it was mostly because of their friendship that I even got that job as second assistant."

"Oh!" Coran exclaimed, "I thought you meant, her best student. Wow... she must be quite old, then- I, mean...um... I thought she'd be your age." she bit her lip. Well, Teioh's Mum probably was quite old, as he was seventeen, but no one liked to be told their Mother was 'no spring chicken', as her own parents often said when describing themselves. Then she paused. Teioh was seventeen - three, maybe four years older than her. That was a lot. It wasn't when you were in your thirties, of course. But between fourteen and seventeen - hell, a lot changed.
"I think you need to trust people to be friends with them properly... you know, to become close friends. The point of friendship? Well, that's companionship, isn't it?" she carried on

"So what's in Suncrest?" she asked. "I mean, other than a beach. D'you reckon we'll all be able to get jobs?" Money was one of Coran's main concerns. The cash she had wouldn't last long. It sounded like a silly thing to worry over while the fate of the world was in her hands, but she was that sort of girl.

OOC: That sounds like fun Charon! I can't even remember the last time I got to go on a vacation that was longer than two days... -_-

Hmm... I have a question for you two. (A silly American question ^^;) When you go traveling to other countries in Europe, how do you communicate? Do you speak the language of the country you're going to, or your native language, or English? I've always been curious about that.

Mara & Squirt
-----------------

"Trust... yes, it's definitely easy to break. Growlithe would know about that too, he's always having issues with trust," Mara said, smiling, "And Suncrest is a pretty big city, I think we should be able to find something there. Maybe even just a job around the beach; at my hometown, they were always looking for young kids to help at the beaches." She thought a moment about the letter proposal.

"Heh, maybe you should write the letter to Teioh's parents Coran," Mara laughed, "At least you know Teioh better than I do; it's a little more probable that he'd run away with you." She stopped quickly though, suddenly realizing the implications of what she had just said. She looked nervously to the two of them.

"Shouldn't be long before we get to the city!" she laughed nervously. Okay so she wasn't the best at keeping her mouth shut when it came to people that liked each other.

She suddenly thought of a trust problem of her own in that area. Yes, she wouldn't want something like that to happen again.

--------------------------

The boy sitting across from Squirt with his bushy black hair smiled at her. "Hi there, my name's Aaron. This here's my friend Rave."

Rave was standing in the compartment, for Limpy would not give up his space for the boy to sit in. Rave's arms were folded in an annoyed pose, his brow furrowed. Squirt laughed a bit.

"Hey! That's the name of one of my friends' pokemon!" she said brightly, picturing the dark, smooth form of Coran's Houndoom.

"Oh, that's nice. So what's a cute girl like you doing with," he shot a glance at Seth, "A guy like him?" Seth frowned too, looking very much like the disgruntled Rave.

"Seth? Oh, he's just a friend. He's not a boyfriend or anything. If he liked anyone it would be my tra-- I mean friend-- Mara," Squirt finished, sweating a bit at her slip-up about Mara's role in her life. Seth started.

"What I don't--!" he began, but was cut off by laughter from Aaron.

"So... you don't have a boyfriend?" he said quite forwardly. Squirt thought for a moment about what to say. She really didn't want this guy bothering her, and she certainly didn't want him to have a crush on her. She was still getting used to the idea of being a human! She had to think up an excuse....

"Oh I have a boyfriend," she said, nodding, "His name is, uh, George." Well that sounded stupid. Seth raised an eyebrow, but quickly changed his expression to one of agreement.

Aaron didn't look convinced.

"He's, ah, very cute, and he can be a bit rough around the edges at times. The kind of person that just says what he thinks, and at times a little too bluntly. Though, I couldn't imagine being with anyone else," she said, attempting to sound a bit dreamy like other human girls she had seen.

Seth looked at her strangely. How'd she come up with all that so fast?

Squirt smiled. Well, she had to use someone, she didn't know too many boys that well, and there was really no doubt in her mind. She had to use Growlithe.

{ooc| *giggles* Ooo, Squirt and growlithe! Well, it depends...When we go to Germany we speak it, because I'm almost fluent so I can understand and translate what people say ^^; Most of the time, anyway. Sometimes I panic, or they speak to fast, and I think the want to know whether they want a cooker on my Pizza or whatever.
If I went to Italy (like last year, I went there for a week with my school) most of the time you buy a phrase book and learn to ask for directions/order simple things, because it's polite. Luckily, most of Europe speaks English anyway, so if you get completely lost there's bound to be some english people walking around. People sometimes find it rude if you go to their country and expect them to speak your language, so it's best to learn a little.}

Coran winced at Mara's words. Oh Mara, she thought desperately, why do you have to be so scatterbrained? She gave a forced laugh, which even to Coran sounded fake.
"As if, Mara!" she declared, feeling herself blush red. Was it that obvious that she liked Teioh? Did she even liked him in that way? When Rave had asked her, he had thrown it at her so rapidly, Coran had been knocked off guard. She didn't like it when people talked 'feelings' - it was awkward and embaressing. She had answered with what he wanted to hear, but in all honestly, Coran didn't know what love was anymore. Her parents had claimed they had loved her, but they'd turned their backs on her. The long line of boys she'd dated, they had said they loved her too. All of them had hurt her too, not just mentally but physically, forcing her against the wall and...god, she couldn't stand the memory. If that was love, she never wanted to feel it again.

...but when she looked at Teioh, she felt a funny jolt in the base of her stomach, and when they brushed, she felt herself tingling.
She glanced to Teioh, wondering how he'd react. Deny the whole thing? Probably.
She shot another glance out the window; the sea was still outside, now a calm, clear azure. They would probably pull into suncrest soon.

OOC: Well, that depends...if I know the language of the country then I speak it, (Because you always get a warmer welcome if you speak the people's own language, or so I've heard. ^^) otherwise I speak english since the chance of meeting someone who knows finnish in a foreign country, with the possible exception of Sweden, is practically non-existent.

IC:

Mara's comment caught Teioh completely off guard and the boy-Espeon had a definite feeling that if he would have been in human form his face would have been lobster-red about now. Luckily, Espeon fur colour didn't change with emotions and the only indication of his discomfort was the jewel on his forehead, which had now taken on a fairly dark hue of red, no doubt about the same colour as what Teioh's face would have been, and was radiating an aura of utter embarassment to its surroundings. For goodness sake, was there any secret that could be kept when these people were concerned? He was aware that Squirt knew of his feelings for Coran, but Mara too? Well, the former Squirtle had barely been able to contain her mirth over it so she had undoubtedly babbled. Or had he been that transparent? At any rate, it seemed most likely that Seth knew as well, probably the rest of the group too. But even if Mara knew, why oh why did she have to bring it up? And what was Teioh supposed to say now? If he went and confirmed the statement then it would be out in the open, but what if it was one-sided like he had suspected? What if she'd think that the only reason Teioh had been wanting to help was because he wanted to get into her pants? Not that she was seen wearing pants very often, but still. And what if Teioh denied it and it turned out that it had been mutual? She might think that it wasn't and give up on it. He could just pretend that he hadn't caught onto the whole thing, but that wasn't exactly going to be plausible. Regardless, if Coran's forced laugh and heavy blush were anything to go by confessing his feelings would definitely not be a smart move on Teioh's part and he finally made his decision. Just as he was about to voice it however, a loud voice from the train's loudspeaker system cut him short.

"NEXT STOP SUNCREST CITY." the loudspeaker boomed, the voice behind it amplified to the point where it was somewhat difficult to discern "REPEAT, NEXT STOP SUNCREST CITY. WE WILL BE ARRIVING IN FIVE MINUTES. REPEAT, WE WILL BE ARRIVING IN FIVE MINUTES."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, unaware of the awkward situation in the other compartment, Limpy was thoroughly enjoying the fact that he could deprive Rave, even though it wasn't the Rave he would have preferred, of a seat, smirking slightly at the youth's annoyed expression while Squirt was preoccupied with the other one, Aaron or whatever his name was.

{George?} the old Rattata repeated sceptically as Squirt had finished, snickering as he recognized the person Squirt was describing {Smooth move, real nicely played. Why don't you inform 'George' of his new nickname once Mara lets him back out, eh?}

{Limpy...} Biggs scolded in a tired fashion, shaking his head. Although the same announcement that cut off Teioh interrupted this discussion as well.
