As the voice boomed out from overhead, Coran cupped her hands over her ears. "God, do they have to shout so loudly? I mean, I think even the death old biddies in Suncrest could hear that." She laughed half-heartedly, struggling to break the atmosphere that was building in their little compartment.
She knew it wasn't Mara's fault that she had let that slip; Coran didn't even know why she was so embarressed by Mara's words, the girl was only joking. Probably because it had been so close to home... If Mara had suggested Seth had fancied her, she would have laughed it off, because it was so outlandish.
In a way, though, Coran wished she did know how Teioh felt about her. Did he really like her in that way, as Mara obviously thought? Was she, Coran, being blind, oblivious to all the signs shot her way?
Then were was the worst case scenario, of course...that Rave was right. Coran wished with all her heart that he was wrong, just for once... but her houndoom normally got things just right.
She watched the landscape flash past; once they were in Suncrest, they would be so busy all these thoughts wouldn't get a look in. There wasn't a problem. It would all get forgotten about, and Coran could bury this odd longing she felt deep, deep down.
