For those unaware, Niantic recently made some more ninja changes to Pokémon movesets, i.e. some Pokémon will no longer be able to learn certain moves upon evolutions. These moves have been replaced by others.

One of the affected is Gyarados.

Gyarados will NOT be able to learn Dragon Breath anymore. So if you have one, you should strongly consider it as a potential option to combat Dragonites you see in Gyms, especially defending ones that tend to have Steel Wing.

I spent six weeks saving for that stupid dragon and have spent the past week or so trying to find a carp with a high IV (my best is 81 right now) so I could evolve the best carp possible in hopes of getting the best Gyrados possible. I'm suddenly a lot less excited about the 600 in carp candy that I'm sitting on :/

    Meh :(

Thanks for posting this, I had no idea it had changed and neither did the site I was using to plan the movesets that I wanted my Pokemon to have

Honestly, while CP is nice, and is discouraging when you evolve into a low CP, its best to focus more on IVs. You can have a CP 65 Magikarp with 100%IVs vs a CP 81 with 34% IVs, the lower cp one would be better.

Semi-luckily my Gyrados knows Dragon Breath, but it has Twister. :( I've been working my way up to a second, I was almost there.

By 81 I meant that was it's IV percentage. It's a 150ish cp carp with 81% IV. At this point I'm starting to wonder if it's worth waiting for a carp with a higher IV as the last 50 have all been lower. Though if I wait another week or so I'll be able to evolve two back to back :p

Not much planning available since all Magikarp have Splash/Struggle ...

I love my Dragon Killer! At 2K, he takes down 2,400 Dragonites ... he only has Twister instead of Dragon Pluse though ...

ive got one to add to the list, my Nidorino has Poison Sting instead of Poison Jab
