Something Sun & Moon did especially badly in my opinion, although they've been present in every game since the beginning: Pok?mon games make heavy use of roadblocks to halt your progress and herd you in the right direction. Some of the time the roadblocks are believable or at least funny, such as the Snorlax in Kanto or the group of Psyduck in Sinnoh, whereas the majority of roadblocks seem quickly thrown together and make no sense.

Examples of bad ones are the "power outage" roadblock in Lumiose City, which not only allows wandering NPC's to pass right through, but also still shows the building lights as illuminated. The Sun & Moon roadblocks are pretty dumb as well.. "you can't go through here until you complete the trial".

Do I care about this too much? I just really prefer when the games have an actual story reason for barricading my progress ?\_(?)_/?

Opinions? Do you care about this at all? Do you have a favorite/least favorite roadblock event?

Oh, that lumiose power outage where you're not allowed to enter yet other npcs are walking in and out the avenues in plain sight? yeah, that sucked.

Other than that though, road blocks have never bothered me in the slightest. They're in place for a reason and that's to stop players from progressing into areas that they're not supposed to reach for that part of the storyline. I've heard a lot of people complaining about many roadblocks in S/M, personally, I never got that impression whatsoever.

Lumoise city power outage makes not absolute sense, it shows visible light and let wandering NPC to pass thorough. I MEAN IF it's have no power the lights should not be visible nor let passerby just dash thru the engineer. Roadblocking shortcut is fine, but just to get you way on your progress is total bother

Better nonsense NPCs and other things blocking your way than nonsense things to use HM moves on.

I mean, it would be a bit ridiculous if they there was a different group of Pokemon or something blocking your way at every trial area. So, if anything, it's more realistic for there just be someone barring your way until you complete the trial, it makes sense to me :3
