Purchasing Pokécoins?

I've bought PokeCoins and exchanged them for Incense if I want to play at home or for Lure Modules if I was sitting at a bar with my friends and we played Pokemon close to a PokeStop. I myself haven't spent a lot of money... But it has allowed me to progress on the game faster. Me and my friends enjoyed the game so much that we came up with an idea to create a PokeCoin calculator.

Bag space was an issue so i increased that to 450 (which still seems not enough), and i have bought some egg incubators as well

i know several people who say they didnt spend a penny on this game but theyre somehow at level 25+. they usually say "I JUST PLAY A LOT". riiiight......
ive purchased $20 worth of coins 3 times so far, to get lucky eggs, incubators, a bigger pokemon/inventory bags.

If someone says they don't spend any money ask them their distance travelled and how many eggs they've hatched. Most people who spend money put most their coins into egg incubators so if they've hatched a lot of eggs but clearly not done the distance for that then they've been spending the money but lying about it.

I just got to level 25 and have never spent a cent on the game. I have never run out of eggs, transfer pokemon, delete potions (because I don't battle gyms too much, although I've started recently), etc. Granted, I do play a lot, but don't jump to conclusions, it's possible!

Also, with the ability to gain coins from defending gyms, I don't see myself ever buying pokecoins. It's not the quickest source of poke-income, but it'll do.

ok, i shouldve said there would be exceptions like yourself. however, 1. i doubt that you have as many rare & strong pokemons as those who got to level 25 by spending some money 2. where are you from? where i live, 9 out of 10 times, level 9-10 gyms get taken down more than once every day. im usually lucky if i can collect 20 golds per day, and thats by placing 5+ pokemons with 2000+ cp as 5th~10th pokemons to defend.

I didn't spend money on coins until about level 24, at that point there wasn't any Pokemon to catch in my local area so the only way I was going to complete my pokedex was from eggs. If I was in the city rather than rural then I would have avoided buying incubators for longer

Yeah, I definitely can't speak to the norms at all.

1. Possibly, it's all relative but by no means do I think I have incredibly rare or strong pokemon at this point.

2. I'm currently in Hanover, NH. I used to be in southern California, but moved here last month. It's been tough in the last few weeks out here because of the lack of pokestops, active players, hot pokemon spots, and just lack of diversity of pokemon in general. Just been farming pidgeys and weedles mostly to level up. The gym situation is a lot more stable, so maybe that's why I am able to get more coins. I'm working on the Dartmouth campus, so I'm in that area a lot. There's five or so gyms within a ten minute walk of each other. I can typically add a pokemon to most if not all of them. But who knows, that may be an anomaly as I just started doing this recently. But if I can keep that up, I figure 80-100 coins a day isn't too bad.

I can imagine it being tough if gyms are that competitive where you live. Most of the time when I encounter a gym, it's usually no higher than level 6 or 7 and contains mostly <2000 CP pokemon. On the other hand, the pokemon hunting here is horrid as a result. Honestly, I can go an entire day seeing only nidoran, pidgey, weedle, caterpie, and ratata with a handful of different pokemon in between. Some days I get luckier than others.

I've spent a fair amount on the game, for things like lucky eggs and incubators. I've also paid for lures a few times, because our group hangs out to play pretty often and we all pitch in on lures.
