[Question] Question about evolving Pawmo

I've read online that evolving Pawmo into Pawmot requires it taking 1,000 steps outside its PokeBall using the Let's Go feature. However, I have two questions:

1. It i1,000 cumulative steps, or do all 1,000 steps have to be taken in one go, without it returning to the PokeBall?

2. Will it evolve immediately after taking 1,000 steps, or does it have to take 1,000 steps and then gain a level?

You have to do both quickest way is run around in a circle for 2 minutes with Pawmo out of its ball and then give it a Rare Candy same method to evolve Bramblin into Brambleghast
