Question about PBR, "pokemon in this pass may not battle"

    I'm entering singles lvl50 all wi-fi "battle someone online" "search for opponent", and at the end of opponent searching if I have my Gyarados on my team it says "a pokemon on this pass may not enter this battle" or something of the sort.

    Any ideas of why this is?
     
    Your Gyarados is a hacked pokemon.
     
    Is that the only explaination? Or just the most likely in your opinion?

    PBR has an anti-cheating system implemented.
     
    Yeah, hacked pokémon should be the only ones unable to get onto wi-fi. And badly hacked ones, at that; the filters are ridiculously lax.

    There was also something earlier where they weren't allowing legendaries on battle passes, but that was supposedly just a glitch in the system and I believe it's long since been resolved. Also, since a gyarados is the problem pokémon, that should be irrelevant unless something new has come up. Have you been able to play with your gyarados on random wi-fi previously and it's only just now not working?
