Question about Samus.

No, Metroids are the things that suck Samus's power. (they latch on to her head) She thought that they were destroyed but they reappeared in Metroid Prime. Samus has no lover- she doesn't need one.
 
I thought Metroid was the guy in the robot suit. The main guy you play as. I never played metroid prime. I only played the one on nintendo.
 
No, that is Samus. Samus is a girl.

On the NES? If you made it to the end you have seen that it was Samus in that suit.

Metroids are the creatures you fight in the game. Samus is the name of the girl in the suit. If you want to know the history and what not of her. The up coming game Metroid Other M for Wii will explain her history, so I say thats a good start for you.
 
Same thing for Halo.

People think the main characters name is "Halo", but 5 mins into the game he is revealed as Master Chief.
