ok i was just wondering, ok say you have a chimchar and you have a ditto does the chimchar have to be male or female or can i be either in order for them to breed?
The gender is regardless when breeding with Ditto. It'll breed no matter what unless it's in the unbreedable category. So yes, a Male or Female Chimchar will breed with Ditto.
If it's male, though, any egg moves the Chimchar knows will be passed onto the child. If it's a female Chimchar, equipping the Everstone onto it before you put it into the daycare gives you a chance of the child being the same nature as the Chimchar parent.
Any Chimchar with a Ditto will breed. Also, Ditto CANNOT breed with the Unbreedable Category, just with most Pokémon. The Unbreedable Category is for legendaries and babies. As Ichida said, you may want it to pass Egg moves, so you need it to be male. If you want to pass the nature, put an Everstone and let it be female. And, DrDeath, the gender of the hatched Pokémon isn't affected in any way.
