Quixotic Saga
The year is currently 2009. A time of peace for the newly developed city of Pilox; which is located near Los Angeles. Pilox is a considered one of the worlds most high tech cities, and consists of both the American, and Japanese cultures primarily.
In this city, there is a new card game that is spreading in popularity like wildfire. This game is known as Quixotic Gear; the first card game to take various elements of anime, manga, and game series, and throws everything into one. There are over 6,000 different cards known worldwide, which consists of many different characters, items, and places from various series. The sheer variety of cards made the game an instant hit, and it is played worldwide.
Quixotic Gear inspired a research team by the name of DOX to create a machine capable of making the game a reality. The end result was the wristband-like mechanism called PACS (Prototype Assault Card System), and it was quickly put to the test.
Once a Quixotic card is inserted into PACS, the wearer is transformed into the character the card represents. Well, I guess that explanation would be wrong. A better way of wording it would be that the wearer takes on a similar form, only gaining the outfit, hair style, and they would gain the abilities of the character, regardless of their physical state. The wearer, however, would not change eye colour, or body size or shape.
There is also a second card slot for non-character cards, such as weapons, items, etc. The only issue is, the item or weapon has to be capable with the character in use. For example, if you are a character who uses a gun, you can't use a sword weapon card on him.
During the testing stages, DOX discovered numerous problems in the programming of PACS. First of all, PACS wasn't usable by everyone. Only certain people were able to use it; all of them under 20. Even then, only a select few in that age range were capable. The scientists began suspecting that the PACS machines were actually choosing who were to possess them, as ludicrous as it sounds. For reasons unexplained, a user can't use a card that has a character of the opposite gender, although a fix is in the works. Another error was that there was to be no pain, it was all supposed to by holographic. However, the result was extremely real, pain and all.
The fatal flaw DOX overlooked was the fact that the prototype PACS had actually been manifesting itself in the minds of the original testers, slowly setting their minds on a path of evil. One day, the three original test subjects disappeared, along with their PACS, leaving the lab in a uproar.
One month later, you are on a tour of the DOX facilities for one reason or another, when the original three testers attack the building in an attempt to steal something. You run away, and find a PACS just randomly lying around. It attaches itself to your arm, and you're forced to use one of your cards to help defeat the villains. Just what is in store for you afterwards?
