Well.... 50% of us hate it 50% of us don't.

I've used Action Replay cheats so many times in the past until my games got boring from all the cheating. Now, though, I try to avoid it, only using Action Replay once as an anti-freeze measure. I remember battling this guy over WiFi who was cheating heavily but had no skill (Metroid Prime Hunters). It was a real hassle trying to beat him, since he inflicted next to no damage on me while I was trying (unsuccessfully) to drain his infinite health.

In other words, I hate cheating, period. ^__^

I think in the case of in-game Pokemon, it's ok. The wall hack was fun to play around with.

And sometimes, on Wi-Fi, it gets out of hand. When I used to battle on Wi-Fi, EVERYONE seemed to have the ideal hidden power. I joined in on the whole Pokesav thing.
And there was always that rule of "legitimate" hacks (meaning nothing overly-hacked) being welcome in standard play. It was like a norm from back when I used to play. Is it still the same?

I use various AR and GS codes to goof around with the ROMs of my older Pokemon games (try sweeping the entirety of Red version with a single Gengar, it's fun. :D), but on newer stuff, I don't even try it at the risk of wtfpwning my cartridge. :P

My cousin got me some event Pokemon from it since I don't have Wi-Fi and this was before they started giving things away via Game Stop. I don't use them though. Even still, I do look down upon cheating. There are those circumstances like I have where I don't see a problem with it, so long as you don't use them against other people. Then there are others where it's just down right nonsense, such as Rare Candies, all shinies, level 100, even going as far as to mess up movesets. I met someone who had a shiny Ditto with Blast Burn, Volt Tackle, Frenzy Plant, and Hydro Cannon. 1, how's Ditto gonna make that work? And 2, if your Ditto doesn't have Transform, you fail at life.

Well, I just wanted to see if anyone could help:

I have AR, using it for um.. Soul Silver, and now I can't see the Kanto Map >_>

Let's see I now despise cheating on any Pokemon game because it screwed up my Diamond :*(. It had 2 'heirloom' Pokemon I called them because my friend gave them to me before he moved away and I would always transfer them to my game. Then cheating, I was trying to get Black Charzard gave me a bad egg! And stupidly I saved with it! I tried to hatch it and looked for bad egg removing codes but NONE were found. I actually shed some tears writing this that's how important they were to me! :*(

A lot of people despise cheating and cheaters in general. People who cheat usually cheat to get the event Pokemon, when they couldn't go to the events themselves and get a LEGIT event Pokemon.

It's a darn shame...

The only time I really use my AR is to clone for my trade thread. And since that isn't even doing too good anymore, I haven't been using it at all.

Only times I used AR were to mess around, get event pokemon, or get pokemon I couldn't get my myself (starters, trade Evos, version exclusives). But since I got my friends into it, and now have more than one Pokemon game, I have no need for that.

I cheat.

These are the codes I use.

  • 900x All Pokeballs: No, I'm not going to sit there for half-an-hour only to catch a legend with a horrid IVs and a useless nature.
  • Check EVs and IVs: I don't have time to go on Wi-Fi billions of times with a team full of Treeckos I have other things to do.
  • 900x Berries: Waiting for days just so I can start to re-EV train a Pokemon I got in a trade is no fun.
  • 900x Items: Again, it just conserves time.
  • 90x TMs: ^
  • 900x Medicine: ^^
  • Fast Egg Hatching: ^^^

It just depends on how you use external devices IMO. If you're altering an already-created Pokemon, or using a device to create perfect Pokemon, that's bad. If your just getting items, who really cares? Go ahead and take a month to create your teams guys, I'll actually be having fun battling.

If you recognize the copy pasta you get a cookie.

Oh, I'm really sorry that I don't have Wi-Fi to get legit event Pokemon. Not my fault. Keep in mind, some of us can't get them that way. I'd love a legit Arceus and Darkrai, but I didn't have Wi-Fi for the events, and I still don't. So I saw no problem in cheating to get those Pokemon, and a few others, as long as I don't use them against people in a battle. I hardly use them anyway. They're just there so that I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything.

I cheat.

Yes, TMs I can understand too, actually. It sucks when you use up a TM from a gym leader (Stealth Rock anyone?) and don't have another game to spare it. Damn good move, but there's only one per game (at least in DPPt).

:D Well the way i see it is there is cheating and time saving for instance by using quick egg hatch our the Iv Checker who am i cheating? i am not cheating myself? i am still playing the game legitly just i do not have 3 months to get only 2 of the ivs i want and i am not cheating anyone else? cause me hatching eggs a little quicker and checking ivs so that i do not have to waste a **** ton of rare candys is not the end of the world

I do cheat. I used quick exp codes so I can get my lower leveled pokemon in my team leveled up quickly, and appropriately for the part of the game I'm at. I don't wanna walk back and forth in grass tediously for 8 hours to gain 4 levels.

I also use the Pokemon Calculator code in Platinum just to fill up what I've seen in my pokedex. I don't catch the pokemon using this code.

I rather complete little things in my game quickly, then walk around for hours on end waiting for a super rare pokemon to show up, when I need the National Dex now.
