3rd Gen rare candies

i have like a bunch of rare candies on my account right now.. but i heard that they're not even that good for your pokemon. is this true?

Rare candies are really good if you just want to evolve a Pokemon for your pokedex

Yes, but the stat increases are decreased (if that makes sense.) Your pokemon won't get as much out of rare-candy leveling up than actually training it leveling-up.

Because you don't gain any EVs in the process.

Most pokemon carry 1 or 2 EVs of a certain type. 4 EVs of a stat (like HP), increases the stat earned that level by one point in most cases. Like for example in D/P you can fight that Staravia trainer in the Cycling Road and earn 14 extra speed points from EVs once you level up.

In-game, use Rare Candies all you want on your underleveled Pokemon. But for those you plan to EV train for WiFi, it's best you level them up normally, as stats won't be as high as they would.

Yeah, if you're just leveling them up to evolve. Otherwise, Rare Candies aren't good. (Unless your Pokemon is already fully EV trained)

An EV trained Garchomp's Attack stat will be around 63 points higher than a Rare Candied Garchomp's Attack stat.

Actually, it's beacuse EVs exist that I use Rare Candies. For example, I had my Metang fully EV trained at level 22, and simply Rare Candied it to lvl 100 from there. There's no difference between that and training them regularly, so long as the EVs have already been gained.
