    Empoleon, Lv. 83

    Nature:Bold

    Stats:
    Hp 243
    Atk 161
    Def 192
    SpAtk 221
    SpDef 192
    Spd 147

    Moves:
    Hydro Cannon
    Drill Peck
    Surf
    Ice Beam

    Eh. No.

    Empoleon@Leftovers
    Nature: Calm
    EVs: 252 HP / 252 SPDEF / 6 SPATK
    Trait: Torrent

    Surf
    Ice Beam
    Grass Knot/Roar
    Yawn/Stealth Rock

Hydro Cannon stinks. Drill Peck only works on a Swords Dance Empoleon. Go for Special Tank Empoleon. Just watch out for Earthquake and Close Combat.

Wow you didnt read the other thread where i posted this.

    But ill repeat myself

Hydro Cannon infact all Hyper Beam/2nd turn Re-charge moves = FAIL FAIL FAIL

    Ill do you a scenario

    You use Hydro Cannon

    Opponents pokemon fainted

    Opponent sends in Heracross

    Empoleon must re-charge

    You cant switch out

    Heracross uses Close Combat

Empoleon loose 10000000% of its health

    GG

    Just so ya know

EDIT: Also two moves of the same type should never be never be used unless its some overkill moves on Choice sweepers which Empoleon is not, such as Overheat and Flamethrower/Flare Blitz or Draco meteor and Dragon Pulse/Dragon Claw etc.On things Like Specs/Scarf Heatran and Specs Salamence respectively

First off, try not to make too many threas at once.

Hydro Cannon fails, as do all Hyperbeam moves. It needs to recharge, so you could consider it 2 turns for 150 Power. Surf does not need to recharge, and can be used without recharging. So if we use it twice, thats 190 Power.

Replace it with Grass Knot, Stealth Rock, or Yawn. Drill Peck should also be replaced with one of those moves.

You can also use the Agility Empoleon set, but I'm not sure how that one is set up. I'd be interested in seeing someone post it.

    Agilipoleon ftw!!!

    Empoleon@life Orb
    72 HP / 184 Spd / 252 SpAtk
    Modest Nature
    - Ice Beam
    - Surf / Hydro Pump
    - Grass Knot
    - Agility (Duh XD)

Agility means his poor Speed is no longer a problem and with Life Orb he can pose a decent threat with almost 460 Special Attack to power his attacks. Sounds impressive, but don't expect this to be sweeping until you've weakened your opponents team sufficiently. The EV spread allows Empoleon to hit 404 Speed after Agility, thus outspeeding Choice Scarf Heracross. This set works nicely with a Nasty Plot/Baton Pass Togekiss, provided you can get in on a Ice or Rock attack, as opposed to a powerful Electric attack

Ok, but what's wrong with Drill peck? It can wipe out fighting (a big weakness) and grass as well. And I don't get the big thing about roar or stealth rock. Why are they any good?

Imaging my Gyarados uses 3 Dragon Dances. Thats scary. I can wipe out your whole team. But if you Roar, I'm forced to switch, making all those Dragon Dances wasted efforts.

Stealth Rock hurts those switching in. In compettitive battles, people switch. ALOT.

Stealth Rock dent things such as Weavile w/Focus Sash which are a threat thus they will be a bit reluctant to switch it in.

Drill Peck wont do as much as STAB'd Hydro pump =/ (Unless its Heracross which you should not be staying in against)

first off... you've got an attack down nature..
    second off... no stab benefit

a lot of the fighting pokemon have low special defenses... so a stabbed special attack should do substantial damage.

and as for fighting... try not to put the Empoleon out against a fighter... since it can learn all 3 of empo's weaknesses...

    the one I use is:

    Modest @ leftovers
    252 SpAtk 252 HP, 6 Def
good ivs in defenses (that was priority)
    Flash Cannon
    Surf
    Ice Beam
    Protect

If none of the 3 weaknesses are present, it's a very hard to take down Empoleon that also hits pretty hard.

***I know Flash Cannon isn't the best of choices since Steel's coverage is utterly superb, but I was looking MAINLY for stabbed neutral coverage where Ice Beam couldn't hurt.

Okay...But Why, Sims796, would your Gyrados still be living? I would kill it way before it was done with three dragon dances. And, Nacon, is protect really necessary? He already had great resistance. My Empoleon now knows Grass Knot, Surf, Ice Beam, and Drill Peck. Should I delete Grass Knot or Drill Peck?

    Thanks a lot!!!

    Ps. What is STAB?

Because Empoleon does not carry Thunderbolt and Gyarados carry Earthquake XD XD XD

STAB + Same Type Attack Bonus, which means the if the pokemon is the same types as the move it gets a 50% increase, so for example Ice Shard was being used by an Ice type.

So Ice Shard has 40 power, and half of 40 is 20, so you add this onto 40 and the end result is Ice Shard being used by an Ice Type will have 60 power.

Also on a more serious note, i suggest you read the posts of this thread, people have said why you should not use Drill Peck yet you ignore them.

DRILL PECK, DRILL PECK, DRILL PECK. Honestly, get rid of it. Now. It does Empoleon no good. Go with what I gave you. And I don't know if you could kill Gyarados. This would probably happen:

Gyarados uses Dragon Dance - Attack and Speed Raised
Empoleon uses Grass Knot - Gyarados loses 51% HP (And that's being gracious with Gyarados' Above Average Special Defense)
Gyarados uses Earthquake - Empoleon is KO'd

Unless the Gyarados isn't carrying Earthquake. Then you MIGHT stand a chance. Trust me.
    EDIT: Azelf beat me. X.x;

Sorry I'm not very good at this.. I'm kinda new..I meant that I would switch to a pokemon with an elctric move first, doingx4 damage. Okay, I'll kill drill peck.

THanks, Loquacity, I'll try yours. Is yawn an egg move, or does he learn it? Ps. I have all tms.

Ever since I started using a Wish Blissey with Protect, I've become very fond of it. It's particularly helpful when out against obvious Choice Item Pokemon - like CB Garchomp, or ScarfCross/CBCross. It lets you scout the moves. For example, I run a Skarmory and a Spiritomb on my teams. Skarmory takes a bit too much damage from Heracross with Close Combat, and Spiritomb takes a bit too much damage from Megahorn. If you use Protect, you can find out which move is being used, in turn giving you the advantage and not worrying about sending out the wrong Pokemon, or perhaps being out-predicted. If the Heracross uses Close Combat, he'll say hello to Spiritomb, or a Ghost type - likewise, if he uses Megahorn, Skarmory will pop up. So in that case, it tends to be extremely useful, if your team has a particular thorn, a Pokemon with Protect could put you at an advantage.

Oh, and it also gives you a free turn of Leftovers recovery.

Okay! I just taught him protect.

yea.. I'm with you on that one... I like battling conservatively... and I enjoy toying with the opponent's mind... if I use protect on Close Combat... the typical person will do it again... trying to compete with Protect.. you know.. wear it down... and that's where I get my free switch in...

PRotect and Leftovers is a great combo because it makes the poke last a bit longer.

a protecting Wish Bliss sounds crazy... I like that idea a lot.
