There is a Battle Frontier in Leaf Green too? I'd say go with Fire (Takes out Steel types) and Thunder Punch (Since there are a lot of Water types about) for Alakazam.

I used the following moveset for my Venusaur in Leaf Green and it worked great:

Nature:Mine was Modest I think, (Always check your starter's nature, I didn't...)
Item:Leftovers
Razor Leaf (STAB coupled with the 50% bonus from Overgrow makes this a very effective move)
Double Edge (Does devastating damage even with unfavourable nature, you can regain the HP with Leech Seed), this can be replaced with Sludge Bomb
Leech Seed (Drains 1/8 of your opponents HP every turn to heal you, definitely nothing to sneeze at)
Sleep Powder (Gives Venusaur time to recover and attack without interference, also good for catching)

For the rest, I'd go with the movesets already posted.
