Here's what I've got so far, my very first team ever, and it probably shows. I have no idea what items I should be using

    Absol @ ???
    Adamant
    Super Luck
    4 HP, 252 Attack, 127 Defense, 127 S.Defense

    - Swords Dance
    - X-Scissor

    Scyther @ ???
    Jolly
    Swarm
    6 HP, 152 Attack, 126 Defense, 126 S.Defense, 100 Speed
    - Swords Dance
    - Night Slash

    - X-Scissor

    Blastoise @ ???
    Gentle
    Torrent
    252 HP, 252 S.Defense, 6 Speed
    - Rapid Spin
    - Blizzard
    - Toxic
    - Surf

    Skarmory @ ???
    Impish
    Super Luck
    252 HP, 44 Attack, 192 Defense, 20 Speed
    - Spikes
    - Stealth Rock
    - Roar
    - Air Slash

Yes! Not the usual bad Format. Spikes AND Stealth Rock is redaundant.

Skarmory (F) @ Leftovers **Big Bird
    Trait: Sturdy
    EV's: 252 HP / 96 Atk / 156 Def / 4 Spd
    Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
    - Spikes
    - Whirlwind
    - Roost
    - Drill Peck / Brave Bird.

Even though they are different "TYPES"?
What would you reccomend in place of one or the other?

I wasn't flaming your format. Just complmenting you on using the right format. Just use my Set. And Air Slash is lol on Skarm. Unless this is infact 3rd Gen, we're allowed to have Whirlwind and Spikes now.

I didn't take it as a flame, just didn't understand why those moves were redundant, since they were in fact different TYPES, so I thought it added coverage. This is my first attempt at a team

Not entirely. Stealth Rock & Spikes together makes it near impossible to switch, & offers amazing coverage. Once a few layers of Spikes is made, switching is dangerous. & With Stealth Rock is up, it hurts those Flying types & Levitators who thinks their slick, on top of adding to those hit by Spikes.

However, I wouldn't recommend them on the same set. For instance, if you use the SkarmBliss combo, Blissey can use SR, while Skarm uses Spikes.

Ok, so I'll substitute Stealth Rock with something else, and when I add my next teammate, I'll let him/her use Stealth rock. I just need to decide who my next team member will be

For the record Itachi, hisd EVs were betetr than yours. What's that much attack going to do for it?

Gentle is terrible on a wall, I recommend calm on a special wall blastoise (though it is more useful as a mixed wall). Blizzard is equally bad. I suggest putting rest over it.

I'm somewhat the fan of Absol, but why are there no Speed EVs? With his frailty, it'll be a miracle if you can even attack at all! (Yeah, I know, Sucker Punch... meh...)

Me First has always been a move to abuse. Besides always going first, you can surprise that Brick Break Weavile or that Draco Meteor Mence or Chomp, or that EQ Metagross. Heck, EQ ANYTHING!

You can try abusing Super Luck by slapping on as many High-crit moves as you can. Night Slash would be the most devastating, but you'd probably need Agility support for it to be properly usable...

EDIT: Skarmory doesn't have Super Luck, btw. -_-

    Absol @ Choice Scarf
    Adamant
    Super Luck
    4 HP, 252 Attack, 252 Speed
    - Psycho Cut
    - Sucker Punch
    - Stone Edge
    - Night Slash
Abuse his Super Luck and go crazy with High Crit Moves!
    Choice Scarf always.

    Scyther @ Salac Berry
    Adamant
    Swarm
    4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
    - Swords Dance / Endure
    - Night Slash
    - Reversal
    - X-Scissor
You'll be awesome if you can skillfully pull this off.

    Blastoise @ Leftovers
    Bold
    Torrent
    216 HP / 96 Def / 196 SDef
    - Rapid Spin
    - Ice Beam
    - Counter / Mirror Coat / Rest

    Blizzard? EWW, NO.

    Skarmory @ Leftovers
    Impish
Super Luck (ERROR: SKARMORY CANNOT OBTAIN SUPER LUCK) / Sturdy
    208 HP / 216 Def / 44 Atk
    - Spikes / Roost
    - Stealth Rock / Roost
    - Roar
    - Drill Peck / Brave Bird
Stealth Rock and Spikes on 2 different Pokemon on the same team is fine, but all cluttered on 1 Pokemon is overkill.
At this current point, you have a very large Electivire problem.
Specifically, 3/4 of your pokemon are weak against the Electric Type.

Ok, I'm taking everything everyone has said here and I'm retooling my team. After much reading on the forums here, I learned how to, and was able to breed egg moves into a pokemon for the first time yesterday (Whirlwind and Drill Peck and Roost, for my Skarmory). That was AFTER getting two Impish ones and breeding them over and over until I was able to get one with what I think are Awesome IV's. . . so that all said, the new OFFICIAL FIRST member of my re-tooled team is:

    Skarmory @ Leftovers
    Impish
    Keen Eye
    252 HP / 192 Def / 44 Atk / 20 Speed
    - Spikes
    - Roost
    - Whirlwind
    - Drill Peck

I'm going to use the same pokes I was using before, but I'll post re-tooled versions of my team as I add em.

    THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!!!!

If this is In-Game, OHKO Moves are very annoying, so I would use Sturdy. And don't type in Caps, it makes it seem like you're yelling.

Believe it or not, Rock Smash on Absol is actually pretty good. Its hard to believe but its the only way you can inflict damage on Pokemon like Tyranitar

Regarding Sturdy vs. Keen Eye. . . is there a method to obtaining the ability you want? or is this random? I ask because I just hatched 13 Skarmorys trying to get one with Sturdy, and each one has had Keen Eye.

Just keep Breeding. You don'r just get one ability out of two every time. :P

Sturdy? Sturdy is a horrible move. Since when are you going to encounter a Sheer Cold?

Keen Eye is the better ability. PBRADIO, I assume you are new to breeding. The female's ability you bred with probably has the ability of Keen Eye. Thats why all your Skarmorys have Keen Eye. If you want Sturdy, then you have to get a Female Parend Skarmory that carries Sturdy, then you can breed.

But seriously, DO NOT use Sturdy.

Not entirely, I had my fair share of Keen Eye Hoothoot, while breeding with an Insomnia Hoothoot.

It makes no difference which ability you use, only noobs use both OHKO moves & Accuracy reduction moves.

    Well, Keen Eye is still the better choice. OHKO moves are banned, Accuracy reduction is still allowed. Unless this is in-game >.>;

No no, this is for battling other trainers. So stick with Keen eye? I just got one with Sturdy, but I realy didn't like it's stats. I'm shooting for lvl 1 stats of 8 in defense, and 6 in everything else. I understand what OHKO means, and sturdy prevents that from happening. I understand that here on these boards, y'all ban certain moves, but I play with these a lot on Battle Revolution, and these OHKO moves are being used over there. So wouldn't Sturdy then be a better choice?

Yeah, I'm new to all of this, I played red/blue on the origional brick when they were released, but I never battled people, only played the game. Now, I'm playing D/P and just getting into being competative.
