[Other] Re-doing entire map

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and this is my first post =) What really attracted me to this site was the section on rom hacking and I was hoping that you guys could help me out.

So here is my problem, I've done a TON of research on gba rom hacking and pretty much the only thing I can't find out how to do is how to look at the map on "Advance Map" as a whole. You can only look at specific towns, routes, etc. meaning you can't just pave over the whole map with grass and start from scratch. And by only allowing you to see the city, route, etc., you have to follow the course that the original game plotted out. I understand that you can expand that town, but it will run into the neighboring route. So is there a way to see the ENTIRE map so I can just pave it down and make a completely new region? Or is there a way to move all of the areas so that they are all right next to each other and clear them individually? Sorry if this is a real nooby question =P I'm just new to this and I can't seem to find anything anywhere on the subject. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Nope.

There is no way to get an "overview" image or a view with all the maps linked up. The closest you will get is the connection editor in Advanced Map 1.95 or MEH, which show how connected maps will work. Otherwise, you can only view and edit single maps at a time.

From what I gather in your question, and correct me if I'm wrong, it seems you don't yet know how map connections work.

Each map is basically just that, a single map. Map size doesn't matter in this and a changed map cannot 'spill over' into another. Without any connections it doesn't go anywhere.
If we take Pallet Town as an example, it has a map connection to the north to Route 1 and one to the south via the water.
If you were to say redo Pallet Town and gave it an exit to the east, you'd have to add a connection to another map.
Using this technique you can create a game that doesn't follow the standard mapping, as small things like changing how the connections work can be a huge change in how your game feels compared to the standard one.

    Good luck!

Ohhh ok thanks you guys. I guess i didnt research as MUCH as I could've lol. I'm sure there's a video somewhere explaining how to link parts of the map. But again, thanks, you guys answered all that I needed to know for now =)
