Reason: a Pokémon & Shin Megami Tensei Crossover [M]
Officially given the Sacred Supervegeta Blessing (lol), and co-GM'd by PkMnTrainer Yellow!Warning: For those who haven't played the Shin Megami Tensei games, a list and description of the mechanics used from Nocturne in particular are found below. Minor knowledge of the series is still recommended to utilize the Negotiation system effectively.

Plot
Spoiler:
It's the end of the world as you know it.
The Pokémon world has succumbed to the Conception, a catastrophic event that turns the world in on itself like an egg so it can be reborn, and Sinnoh is the only region that hasn't been completely devastated or outright obliterated. Surprisingly, the Sinnoh region is still standing, to a degree. The climate's changed, turning all of Sinnoh's land into grasslands and deserts with the exception of the forests, Mt. Coronet's innards, and near Snowpoint City, where it's constantly winter. The ground has cracked open in some places like over routes and even in cities, with nothing but an empty abyss inside. A building, a tower, has grown out of Spear Pillar, too. It can almost touch that thing glowing in the sky.
Giratina, now literally the center of the world, is its everlasting sun, and provides it magatsuhi, a spiritual energy that fuels this inside-out world. Giratina was the one tasked with overseeing the destruction of worlds in order to create new ones. And you were supposed to die like everyone else when it happened.
But you didn't. Arceus came to you in the night; it knew you had the potential and the desire to change the world. What the change was, to be precise, was entirely up to you. Arceus brought you together with others around your age in Eterna City's Pokémon Center, its basement and second floor blocked off, for you to take the opportunity upon yourselves and bring about the change you wish to see in the world. But why so many people? Why isn't one enough?
Choice, of course. People will have differing views and values from others, and you're certainly no exception. Maybe you'd like a world where only the strong survive amongst human and Pokémon, and the strongest of them all is King; the boy or girl waking up next to you might like a fully organized utopia, where there are no wars and everything's under law and order; another could want to have modeled the world so that no one had to bother anyone else, they could all be in their own little realities and do as they pleased; and some may enjoy the world just as it was before, with all of its goods and bads. You need power to realize your Reason, though, and Arceus has happily granted some of you with exactly that.
The power of a Pokémon, making you stronger and giving you the abilities of the Pokémon you used to know. You'll be greeted by a man who claims to be a Prophet of the End once you all wake up, and he'll explain the situation to you, or at least what of it he wants to.

Nocturne Mechanics
Spoiler:
• The Negotiation system is actually just that: Negotiation between the player character and demons (in this case, Pokémon). This usually ends in one of three ways, depending on the demon's/Pokémon's normal behavior: They join your team; they just leave; or they attack you while your guard's down. Again, it all depends on their behavior. In the case of Pokémon like Magikarp, who are frankly too dumb to even say much, they may join your team without your consent, or just attack you.
• This is a Magatama (禍魂, literally "evil spirit"), both inactive and active.
Magatama are a parasitic beast that functions as both armor and weapon. It gives the user increased physical strength, as well as special abilities known only to demons. It also turns the user into a half-demon, giving them some less human features. (In the case of Nocturne, the MC grew a black horn from the back of his neck, and glowing tattoos all over his body.)
As described as Pokétama (ポケ魂, "Pokémon spirit"), they are just the same. They allow a normal human to withstand Pokémon attacks as a Pokémon does, and gives them the strength to fight back. They gain Pokémon moves, and some physical features change. (With an Electric-type -tama, for example, the user may have spikier yellow hair, and generate sparks of electricity around their body. However, appearance changes are different between -tama and the user, so using multiple -tama and changing between them puts the players to a creative test in itself.)
• Magatsuhi is a flow of energy, born from strong emotions, and humans have a TON of it. It affects the strength of Pokémon, and acts as sustenance. Pokétama users are specifically able to use this to restore their strength by absorbing magatsuhi from defeated enemies. Some of the less intelligent Pokémon may attack the player just to get more magatsuhi, and do nothing but demand it.
• Manikins are pretty much just counterfeit humans. They look (mostly) like humans, and act like humans. They're just as much a source of magatsuhi as normal humans, and there are plenty of them in hiding. You will NEVER see any wandering around outside. Most players may never even meet one.
• Finally, and possibly the most core part of the plot, is Reason. A Reason is a human's inner philosophy, one for the new world to follow by. As it's a HUMAN'S philosophy, Pokémon and Pokétama users (since they're half-Pokémon at that point) are forbidden to create a Reason. They can only support a Reason. (And this is why Pokétama are optional.)

Notes & Changes
Spoiler:
• Pokémon replace the SMT demons and can all communicate and interact with humans, but the Demon Negotiation system remains, with minor changes. For example, a Pikachu may use a Thunderbolt on you to test your durability before joining your party, while a Kadabra may just ask you a few questions; and they STILL might not join you, even after all your awesome negotiating! That said, some (like a Magikarp) may just join you without your consent should you decide to speak to them. Leveling is generally free reign, (think about one level every few wild battles) and all trade evolutions occur at level 40.
• Every Pokétama starts at level 1 (while the default "Attack" is equal to Scratch), and levels up through battle like a regular Pokémon. If one doesn't have a Pokétama, they'll have an affinity to a certain Pokémon type that makes it somewhat easier to negotiate with and control that type.
• Parties can have one active Pokémon, plus the player, at once, though up to six Pokémon can be brought along with you at any given time. The Compendium, which has a separate version for everyone, replaces the PC Storage System. (To exchange Pokémon, simply re-write their storage status as "Taken" or "Stored".)
• The Pokémon you bring around with you will be stored in your body as energy, and your "active" Pokémon will be summoned when you attack or are attacked. For non-Pokétama users, your active Pokémon is a constant companion, instead of stored, in order to protect you. (Your body will basically be a living Pokéball.)
• By killing someone with a Pokétama (or a Pokémon in possession of a Pokétama, but this is almost as rare as the Dark/Ghost-type Pokétama), you can take theirs and alternate between using it and others in your possession for a wider variety of moves when leveling up. (A non-user can also endure the initial, excruciating pain of ingesting a Pokétama so to gain their own abilities, in exchange for giving up their ability to create and maintain a Reason.)
• When you possess multiple Pokétama, levels are synchronized between them, but only the ingested one will provide any benefits, which includes moves gained during leveling up. You cannot change your Pokétama during a fight, as its activity will prevent it. To change it, simply ingest another one and it'll cause you to cough up the one you already had.
• Pokémon will be able to have up to six moves, and any Pokétama user can have up to eight.
• The battle system will be similar to Pokémon (with the addition of talking to the opponent), and you'll have (almost) free reign over wild Pokémon battles, as well as negotiation. All Pokémon, not counting Legendaries and ones that are extremely rare like Phione and Rotom, are available in their respective climates, and I expect you to be sensible. (For example, a Rhyhorn's first thought is "headbutt you now, ask you why you wanna talk later," but a Psychic-type may actually try and respond with tact.) In the extreme off-chance that you'll encounter a Pokétama in a battle, I'll notify you myself.
• Remember that not all Pokémon souls are straight-up hostile. They can even talk to you themselves in the middle of a fight, whether to ask you if you'd let them go, or even if they could join up with you.
• Like Nocturne, any Pokétama user cannot have a Reason of their own. All Pokémon and Pokétama users can only support a normal human's Reason by following it, and a Pokétama user can become a normal human's guardian as their Sponsor, the one to provide the power necessary to realize their Reason.
• TMs and items don't exist; Egg Moves can be used by Pokémon on occasion.
• And finally: if you die, it's game over. You and your Pokémon DO, however, recover over time, and can use moves to heal yourselves and each other. (Moves like Recover and Softboiled will work on more than just the user, for example.)

Rules
Spoiler:
• Okay, this one should be obvious: as GM, what I say goes.
• This should also be obvious: if you have a problem with someone/thing, please bring it up with the GM(s). If it's a roleplayer in particular, bring it up in private instead of in the thread.
• Since many aspects such as battle, leveling and Pokémon negotiation are up to the individual player, it requires (as mentioned at least twice already) sensibility; I'll notify you if you go overboard. This puts a lot of a character's responsibility on themselves, and trying to abuse it will have you kicked out.
• Much of the time, you'll also be left without a set direction, so your character will be free to pursue their own ambitions in post-Conception Sinnoh.
• Remember that the world is inside-out now; you're pretty much on the inside of a hollowed-out ball, and you're stuck to the walls.
• As this is M, you can expect blood and gore (of course don't go over the top), and people will die. Cursing is also allowed, but don't lace your posts with them. As for romance, seriously? It's the end of the world and you want to get yourself a date of all things?
• To verify you've read these rules, add a sentence or two in your character sheet about how they'd react to waking up in a building full of random people they don't know.
• Bunnying, of course; don't do it. The only exception is when a player is waiting an extended amount of time so they can post. Either move on without the character you're waiting for, or bunny the character ONLY to the point where you can leave them to their own devices.
• Try to remain active; there isn't a real limit on posting time, but once a week at a minimum should be fine. If you have a problem with posting frequently, please notify me via PM/VM.

My Sign-Up
Spoiler:
Pokétama? Yes; Psychic
Name: Armon Rivol
Age: 18
Sex: Male
Appearance: He's about five feet and eight inches tall, weighs in within the 130-lb range, and has a lively Caucasian skin tone. Armon has wide hazel eyes, and platinum-blonde hair that fringes out just around his shoulders, the bangs typically being held at the sides of his forehead or over one eye. Armon's also well-built, though he's pretty far from being a bodybuilder. Just a bit of evident muscle on his arms and legs, a toned chest, and flat abs is enough for him. Normally he wears Hawaiian shirts, wide-legged blue jeans (with a belt), monochrome street sneakers, and a fleece hoodie.
Personality: Normally, Armon is calm, collected, and tactful. A neutral mediator and tactician, and his voice reflects this. He's generally tolerant of things he sees and hears. However, he can lose his cool quickly if he feels offended or threatened. Otherwise, he's trying to just keep out of the spotlight when he doesn't need it, resulting in coming off as a loner when he isn't talking to someone. Waking up in a room full of strangers, Armon would probably isolate himself and watch everyone over doing anything else.
History: Few notable things happened in Armon's life, since it was pretty average. His childhood was spent trying to avoid his older brother, who LOVED to wrestle. It was for good reason, too, because around seven years old, Armon suffered some damage to his eyes as a result of his brother wanting to "play." He's had to wear glasses ever since, but nowadays he can see fine without them for short periods of time, after which he's not much better than blind. He hasn't had many close friends, if any, and mostly tries to stay in the background of things until he feels he can be useful or needed, leaving him to shy away from random chances of leading.
