    Chapter 1: The Beginning

Six year old Calvin Blake sat in front of the TV intently watching the video his mother had just brought him. It was a rare treat when a gift was given in the Blake home. Money had been tight since Calvin's father had left two years before. But Calvin wasn't thinking about that now. He was watching his heroes face each other in epic battles and hoping that one day he might be able to challenge them himself. As each new pokemon entered the battle Calvin shook with excitement. The video was of the pokemon Championships from a few years back, but Calvin didn't care. The battles were happening in his living room right now.

His mother watched as her little red-head made the motions of throwing a pokeball or ordered the pokemon to do certain moves. She smiled. She could watch him all day but she had work to do. She turned to leave the room when her son's voice called to her.

"Thank you, mom!" he exclaimed. She turned back just in time to be greeted by a warm hug.

"You're welcome," she said as she embraced her son. "I'm glad you like it."

"I want to raise pokemon one day," he said looking back at the TV. "One day I'll go to the championships and I'll win and then I'll be the best."

"I'm sure you will, Calvin," she said as he ran back to the TV. "I'm sure you will"

    ______

"Rattata! Quick Attack that Pidgey!" Calvin yelled and his Rattata lunged forward. It struck the small bird before it had a chance to get out of the way. The Pidgey was knocked backwards and lay on the ground unconscious.

"Good job, Ratty!" Calvin said as be bent down and rubbed its head. "Your Quick Attack is getting faster and more accurate every time. I think we're ready for the gyms." Rattata squeaked at him as he returned it to its pokeball. He pushed a lock of red hair behind his ear as he put his pokeball away and began walking towards the house.

His mother had asked him not to leave home until he was at least13 and even though she died when he was 11 he still honored that wish. Since he was 13 ½ he thought it was time. He had only been to a city once when he was 7 and he didn't remember much but he had learned all he could from the small library in his little village east of Viridian Forest. He knew the towns the gyms were in and since Viridian was the closest, he chose that one.
He packed up some food and extra clothes and left on the 3 day hike to Viridian City. He encountered many wild pokemon along the way and took the opportunities to get some more practice in. He tried to use every member of his team: Nidoran(M), Rattata, Geodude, Bellsprout, and Pidgeotto. Pidgeotto was his favorite and the one he'd had the longest.

Calvin took the walk kind of slow so that he would be well rested when he got to Viridian and so that he could get in as many fights as possible before the gym. He finally came out of the southern part of Viridian Forest after three and a half days. He walked down the street towards town but there were no people in sight and the road itself had not been kept up. It had huge cracks and breaks in it. The town itself looked empty. Several buildings had broken windows and no lights. He was slightly confused because all that he had heard suggested that the cities were fairly popular. Dismissing his feelings of disappointment, he headed for the gym. It didn't look too bad so he knocked on the door, but no one answered. So he tried to open the door, but it was locked.

Calvin was really disappointed. He had come this far hoping to challenge a gym but it looked like there wasn't anyone to challenge. As he turned to walk away he saw two men in black uniforms coming his way. He headed for them as well. Maybe they could tell him what was going on. As they approached he saw that they each had a gold star on their left chest pocket with a huge red "R" in the middle of it and some gold lines and dots on their shoulders.

"Excuse me," Calvin said once he got close, "could you tell me what happened to the gym? I was hoping I could challenge it."

"You have pokemon?!" the one on the right asked in complete shock.

"Yeah," Calvin answered. "I came to challenge the gym."

"You're young so you might not know," the one on the left stated, looking down at the young teenager, "but its illegal to have pokemon without a permit."

    "What!??" Calvin shrieked. "Illegal!??"

"Yes," the first one continued "so if you'll just hand over your Pokemon and pay the $200 fine, you can be on your way."

"But these are my pokemon," Calvin said defensively "and I don't have any money."

"If you don't give us the pokemon we are authorized to take them by force," the one on the left said as he pulled out 2 pokeballs from his shirt pocket. His partner also pulled 2 out. At first Calvin was scared but then he got excited. Finally, a real trainer battle!

"Ok, if that's the way it has to be," Calvin pulled out and threw 2 pokeballs, "Nidoran! Geodude! GO!!"

The two men looked at each other then each threw a ball. A Beedrill and a Growlithe emerged from the balls.

"Geodude! Rock Throw that Growlithe! Nidoran! Peck that Beedrill!" Calvin shouted. Geodude began pelting the Growlithe with rocks while Nidoran ran at his target.
"Growlithe, dodge the rocks and Take him Down!"

"Beedrill, use String Shot before it gets there!" The Beedrill spit some string out and hit Nidoran tripping him up. "Beedrill, use Poison Sting!" The Beedrill dove and hit the Nidoran with its stinger. Nidoran rolled over and got back up.

Meanwhile, Growlithe kept taking hits from the rocks. It didn't have the agility to dodge them very well. After a few seconds of pelting, Growlithe got in position for an attack.
"Geodude! Defense Curl!" Calvin shouted. His Geodude began to spin just as the Growlithe tried to use Take Down. The spinning deflected most of the attack and threw the Growlithe off to the side. "Quick, Geodude! Tackle it!" Geodude thrust itself at the Growlithe as it got to its feet. It was knocked back off its feet and hit the ground near its owner, unconscious. It was returned to its pokeball and a Sandshrew emerged from the next ball.

Nidoran didn't have much of a chance. It didn't have the speed or range of the Beedrill. After the third String Shot/Poison Sting combo it fell to the attacks. Calvin returned it to its ball just before the Beedrill hit it again.

"Hey!" he yelled. "Keep your Pokemon under control!" The 2 men smiled. Calvin threw out another ball. "GO! Pidgeotto!" Pidgeotto emerged from the ball.

"Sand Attack, Sandshrew." The Sandshrew kicked sand in Geodude's eyes. "Now Slash!" It followed that up with a slash to the face before Geodude could see. Geodude flew back but regained himself just in time to see a second slash coming. Geodude didn't outlast the second one. Calvin returned him to his ball and brought out Bellsprout.

"Pidgeotto! Sand Attack that bug followed by Gust!" Calvin's Pidgeotto kicked up some sand at the Beedrill making it recoil momentarily. A strong gust of wind hit it and threw it backwards. "Quick Attack while it's down!"

"Get up, Beedrill! Get out of the way!" Before it could get up, Pidgeotto rammed into it hard knocking it out.

"Bellsprout! Vine Whip!" Bellsprout extended some vines and tried to hit the Sandshrew but it kept evading.

"Sandshrew, find an opening and roll in for a Slash." It kept dodging the vines so Calvin called down some Sleep Powder. But while Bellsprout was retracting its vines, Sandshrew quickly came in and slashed it sending it at its owner. Calvin caught it but it was knocked out with a huge gash in its stem. Calvin threw his last pokeball and his Rattata joined the fight.

Beedrill's owner returned it to its pokeball and threw his second one revealing Arbok. "Arbok, bite that stupid bird." Arbok lunged at Pidgeotto.

"Take to the air and use a flying Quick Attack!" Calvin ordered. Pidgeotto dodged and swooped in for a clean hit in the back. Arbok seemed more angered than hurt.

"Rattata, use your Hyper Fang on that Sandshrew!" Rattata ran forward but was hit with a Sand Attack. With the sand in his face he couldn't see his target and missed. Sandshrew Scrathed him in the back but Rattata quickly regained himself and Quick Attacked it knocking it back a bit. Rattata tried another Hyper Fang but Sandshrew rolled out of the way at the last moment. Sandshrew turned to slash his enemy just as Rattata tried Hyper Fang again. This time the teeth landed but not without consequence. Sandshrew's slash hit him at the same time. The two pokemon flew away from each other and each fell unconscious leaving just Pidgeotto and Arbok in the fight.

Calvin told Pidgeotto to use Sand Attack slithered to the side quickly and wrapped him up. Pidgeotto squawked as the huge snake squeezed it. Arbok let go and the bird fell to the ground. Before it could get up, Arbok sank its teeth into the bird. Pidgeotto tried to get away but it was bleeding. Calvin tried to return it but Arbok got in the way and wrapped it again. After a few seconds of squeezing, Pidgeotto stopped moving. Arbok picked it up with its mouth and threw it at Calvin. It landed at his feet. He picked it up but it wasn't breathing.

"Well," Arbok's owner started, "your pokemon have been beaten. Now it's your turn." Calvin fell to his knees holding his lifeless pokemon. Tears rolled down his face. "Arbok! Bite him!" Arbok slithered forward to deal the blow.

    Chapter 2: Mentor

Calvin couldn't move. He couldn't take his eyes off of Pidgeotto. The Arbok moved quickly to strike. Calvin looked up. Arbok drew in and opened his mouth to strike, but a horn stabbed completely through him from the side. The snake writhed around on the horn of the huge pokemon. The two men stood there completely taken off guard. The huge pokemon tossed the now lifeless snake to the side revealing its identity. A Nidoking stood tall and faced the two men.

"You Rockets disgust me," a voice from the side said. A man walked forward and stood beside his Nidoking.

"Do you know who you're talking to?" one of the Rockets asked.

"Do you know who you're talking to?!!" the man shot back. His Nidoking leaned forward and started to growl real low. The two Rockets stepped back. "I'm the former head of Team Rocket and Former Viridian City gym leader, Giovanni!"

"You're one of the rogues," one of the Rockets exclaimed, "former gym leaders and those with gym victories that don't obey the new rules. You are a disgrace to Team Rocket. Now that you've been spotted it won't be long before a high ranking official is here to deal with you."

"Not if I kill you first," Giovanni watched as fear over took them. With no pokemon to protect them they were sitting ducks. "Nidoking, use Strength and throw them into the air. The two Rockets began to run but the large pokemon moved with surprising speed. It caught them, one in each hand, and threw them in to the air. "Now use Thunderbolt!" The giant Nidoking clenched its fists and began to glow with electricity. It was only a moment before a bolt of electricity came off of him and hit the two falling Rockets, killing both instantly.

Giovanni returned Nidoking to his ball, walked over to the remains, and pulled the 4 pokeballs out. He opened them and released the pokemon. He turned and saw Calvin holding his dead Pidgeotto. Giovanni really felt for the kid. He walked over and gave him all 4 empty pokeballs.

"I know this doesn't replace him, but at least you can catch another one." Calvin just looked up at him.

"Why?...." he started. "What happened? Why are pokemon illegal? Why did he kill my Pidgeotto? I thought killing was against the rules." Giovanni put his hand on the boy's shoulder.

"Things have changed in that's few years, son," Giovani explained. He looked around and then back at Calvin. "I've got a place near here, just off of Victory Road. Come with me, we'll be safe there."

The two of them headed off, Calvin carrying his dead pokemon. Giovanni explained things along the way.

"About five years ago a boy came through and defeated me at my gym. He then went on to take on the Pokemon League but was frustrated by failure. He was a very power hungry youth and so he set out to make the best team possible. In the process he discovered that being the champ just wasn't enough for him. He needed more.

"So he started up Team Rocket again, which I had founded many years before but had disbanded since another youth had showed me the true nature of pokemon. He assembled a great team and they took one of the cities by force. Well naturally the gym leaders came to the city to try and rid it of these vagrants. We all failed. This new Team Rocket had very skilled trainers with very powerful pokemon. They were not afraid to kill. Many pokemon died there in Lavender Town. I lost 3 of mine. Misty was killed and the rest of the gym leaders were all defeated, each losing some pokemon.

"With the gym leaders beaten, there was no one to stop them from taking the rest of the cities and one by one the cities fell to them. Many up and coming trainers were beaten or killed and many others joined the Rockets. Soon all of Kanto was under the rule of Team Rocket.

"But there was hope. The Elite 4 and the Champion, Ash, met the leaders of Team Rocket in battle just outside of Fuscia City. The battles were incredible. The landscape was torn apart, pokemon were pushed to their limits. I was there. Nidoking and I were there. We helped take out some underlings while the Elite 4 handled the big guys. Lance, the dragon master, faced off with this youth but was defeated. Lance lost all but one Dragonite which he used to escape. All of the Elite 4 were beaten, but then Ash stepped in.

"These two seemed to have crossed paths before. Ash easily wiped the floor with the first three pokemon the new Rocket Leader threw out, but then he called forth the power of legend, Articuno the legendary bird. Ash's Pikachu and his Charizard managed to bring it down but both fainted in the process. The Rocket then called upon Zapdos, another legendary bird. Zapdos easily defeated the rest of Ash's powerful pokemon.

"Before this battle many had thought that the legendary birds were just that, legends. Apparently we were wrong. He had found them. The battle was his before it started.

"Agatha and Bruno were thrown in jail. Lorelei was killed in battle. No one knows what happened to Ash. Team Rocket had won the day and had complete control over all of Kanto. They then became a sort of police and set up their own rules. No one was allowed to have pokemon and all pokemon were confiscated. If the Rockets don't like you doing something they will hit you with a fine or just beat you to death with their pokemon." They arrived at a small house and Giovanni stopped and turned to the young boy.

"That's the world we live in. That is what you've just experienced. Now, do you still wish to train pokemon and battle these Rockets?" Calvin looked down at Pidgeotto. He closed his eyes and a tear rolled down his cheek. He opened his eyes and looked up at Giovanni.

"Yes," he replied without hesitating. "Yes I do!"

"Good," Giovanni said kneeling down. "I will help you train up your pokemon and catch new ones. You will need a good team if you are going to have them." Calvin nodded and the two turned to go into the house. That night Calvin buried his Pidgeotto and the next day Giovanni started training him.

The two faced each other in the morning light. Both pulled out a pokeball and threw it. Giovanni brought out his Kangaskhan. Calvin brought out his Nidoran(M). Giovanni spoke.

"The first thing you must understand is that your opponents will show you no mercy," he began. "They will attack you with the intent to kill you and you must do the same in order to match or overpower them." Calvin nodded, a stern look on his face. "There are 17 known pokemon types: Normal, Flying, Fighting, Electric, Rock, Ground, Steel, Poison, Ghost, Psychic, Grass, Water, Fire, Dark, Ice, Bug, and Dragon. Each of these types has strengths and weaknesses. For example and electric type pokemon will have an advantage over a flying type pokemon but will have a disadvantage against a rock or ground type." Calvin nodded again, his look turning to curiosity.

"You have to know what types are good against what. It's not as easy as you think because sometimes its not so clear. A Steelix is obviously a steel type. But what about a Sudowoodo? It looks like a tree so you might think it's a grass type when in fact it's a rock type. You see? Knowledge is power when it comes to pokemon.

"As I'm sure you know, pokemon evolve. Different pokemon evolve in different ways, however. Some pokemon evolve once they reach a certain level while others evolve when certain stones are applied to them. Some evolutions depend on the trainer and how well he treats the pokemon and some need to have things given to them. I don't think anyone truly knows all pokemon evolutions but some are close.

"Training is also important. You can have strong, well trained basic, unevolved pokemon that can beat higher evolutions because they've been very well trained and have The size of a pokemon often denotes its level. A one foot long Rattata will not be nearly as strong as say a four foot Rattata. The one is four times more powerful that the other.

"Here is the mark of a truly great trainer. A truly great trainer will be able to use his pokemon's strengths to overcome even stronger trainers than himself through knowledge and planning. You must assess a match almost instantly. Here I have my Kangaskhan and you have your Nidoran. Right off you should have realized that my Kangaskhan is much larger than your Nidoran. From this you can deduce that your Nidoran is faster than my Kahgaskhan. You realize that you should use attacks utilizing your speed and my size and should depend on your ability to dodge heavy attacks.

"But that's not enough. Just evaluating and acting according to the situation isn't enough. You have to assume that I know this information as well. You have to assume that I know my weakness and am formulating a plan to counter it. You must think as I would, find the plan I'm coming up with and beat that plan using your strengths.

"Any good trainer with large pokemon knows their weakness and trains them in speed or attacks that have more than one or no focal point so as to lower the chances of it being dodged. You have to know all of this the moment you see your opponent's pokemon.

"The next thing you must do is find out what kind of trainer your opponent is. Does he defend all the time? Is he always attacking? Does he favor status changing attacks? Knowing your opponent will change your strategy and help you to win. Do you understand so far?" Calvin thought for a moment then nodded his head slightly with an unsure look on his face.

"The best way to learn is to experience it," Giovanni said calmly. "So come at me!" Calvin snapped into battle mode and sent Nidoran into battle.

    Chapter 3: The Search Begins

Calvin walked into the house and slammed the door. Giovanni looked up from a book. He had seen Calvin like this before.

"How long are we just going to train here in the woods?!" Calvin ranted. "We need to do something about these Rockets."

    "What happened?" Giovanni asked.

"I just watched and old woman get killed. For no reason. Just killed her. I tried to stop it but I was too late. I can't watch this happen anymore. I'm going to take on the Rockets!"

"Whoa! Calm down," Giovanni stood up, now eye to eye with the fiery haired young man. "You need to think about what that will do. Say you actually drive the Rockets out of a city. They'll be back and be back hard. They'll punish you then they'll punish the people in the town for letting it happen. You won't be helping anyone."

"How long have you been sitting here in the woods?!" Calvin yelled. "Ten years!! Ten years you've been hiding, only helping people when it wouldn't draw attention to you. I've been here for the last six, but I thought we were building towards something. I thought we would help people. But we don't. We just hide. Well I'm tired of it!"

"You can't just go out there half cocked and expect to do any real change! These things have to be thought through."

"And how long to you plan on thinking this one through?!! How many people will you let die before you act?!!"

"Now you listen to me!" Giovanni raised his voice and walked closer to Calvin. "This has to be done right or not at all. Think about what you're doing before you do it. Team Rocket has the better pokemon and larger numbers."

"If you're afraid to act, then just say so!" Calvin stepped into Giovanni's stare. The two of them stared at each other as if a fight was about to happen. Finally Calvin turned back for the door. Giovanni grabbed his shoulder.

"Where do you think you're going?!"

"Out!" Calvin said jerking away. "I need to think and cool off." Giovanni watched as Calvin walked out the door. He hung his head and sat down. He knew Calvin was right. Something had to be done.

Calvin walked around the woods near Giovanni's house. At 19 he was young enough to still have ideals but was old enough to understand the consequences. He knew that Giovanni was right. One act of defiance would bring the full weight of the Rocket might down wherever it happened. But there had to be a way to break the hold Team Rocket had on Kanto. Either way he knew one thing: his team wasn't ready for the big leagues. His six years with Giovanni had helped and his team had grown but he was lacking some key evolutions and he knew he could take out the city governors but not the Rocket leaders.

He took out his 6 pokeballs and looked at them. Raticate, Graveler, Weepinbel, Nidorino, Gyarados, and Abra. His team was strong, but not strong enough. Just then he got an idea. He got all of his pokemon out and told them his idea.

"Ok guys," Calvin started. He knew his pokemon could understand him so he continued on. "We are going to start a very rigorous training schedule. All of us. Even me. Each of you is weak to something, but I think there's a way to boost your resistance to certain types of attacks.

"Raticate and Abra. You guys are going to partner up. Raticate, your job is to hit Abra as much as possible. Any attack. Abra, your job is to dodge or block every attack. Go for as long as you can. If either of you faints then stop or if you need to rest then rest but I'd like for you to push yourself as much as possible. This will increase both of your endurance and speed as well as your attack Raticate and your defense Abra. Speed is especially important to you Raticate since your weakness is fighting type so being faster than the opponent means getting hit less. Try not to teleport too far away Abra, just keep it close.

"Nidorino and Gyarados. You two will be partners for a while. Gyarados will also work with Weepinbel and Graveler some of the time. For now, Nidorino, your job is to use Thunderbolt on Gyarados as much as possible until he can't take it any more. Then he'll rest. Hopefully this will increase his tolerance to electric attacks and he'll be able to take more of them with less damage. Gyarados, hang in there as long as you can. When you're working with Weepinbel, you are going to Ice Beam Weepinbel to up his resistance to ice type attacks. You'll use Hydro pump on Graveler when you work with him. Nidorino, you work with who isn't working with Gyarados. Weepinbel, when you work with Graveler, hit him with Razor Leaf and Vine Whip to increase his tolerance of grass type attacks.

"I will be stepping in on these training sessions and having you guys attack me from time to time to increase my endurance and stamina as well as speed and strength. You guys ready?" All of the pokemon let out shouts of agreement. "Ok, let's do it! Nidorino, you're with Gyarados first."

Raticate dashed at Abra who teleported a few feet away. Raticate continued his pursuit. Nidorino threw out a Thunderbolt and Gyarados roared in pain. Nidorino threw another. Weepinbel threw out a Razor Leaf and Graveler just took it. It was followed by a Vine Whip. Calvin encouraged them as they kept going.

"Good job Raticate. Work on your sharp turns. That's it Gyarados. Try to endure it. Keep it up Weepinbel. Keep alternating them."

Raticate couldn't keep up with Abra's movements. He couldn't stop his momentum fast enough to quickly go in the direction Abra teleported. Graveler took quite a few hits but still went down pretty quickly. Nidorino was going strong but Gyarados nearly fainted after 6 weak Thunderbolts. Calvin walked over and stopped Nidorino.

"I have a better idea. Can you do a very weak but constant Thunderbolt? Just electrocute him weakly but constantly."

After about 30 minutes everyone was exhausted. Calvin called them all over to take a break. "We'll rest for about an hour then hit it again. We need to do as much each day as possible."

Once the break was over Calvin joined Raticate in trying to hit Abra. Neither of them was very nimble, but Calvin did that for the rest of the day. The others did their respective trainings in 30 minute intervals as well.

Giovanni paced back and forth in the house. It was well past dark and Calvin still wasn't back. He hoped Calvin hadn't done anything rash and tried to take on the Rockets. As he pondered over the many scenarios of what could have happened, he heard something outside. He quickly let Nidoking out of its ball and cracked the door. There he saw Calvin fast asleep in the middle of all of his pokemon. They had all fallen asleep in front of the house.

Giovanni felt relieved and happy. It made him smile to see Calvin asleep with his teammates. Giovanni went back inside and lay down, his mind finally at ease. The smile didn't leave his face even as he drifted into sleep.

Giovanni awoke the next morning to sounds of battle. He ran outside to see Calvin's pokemon attacking each other and Calvin trying to catch Abra. He watched as Raticate got one hit in on Abra. Weepinbel was trying to dodge Nidorino's attacks while Gyarados was Hydro Pumping Graveler. After about 20 minutes they stopped for about an hour then picked it back up again. Giovanni watched all day long as they trained through the day, eating during the breaks. He was impressed at this new training but didn't interfere.

Day after day Giovanni watched as Calvin and his pokemon got stronger and faster. The amount of time they could go for increased every few days as well. Some days Calvin chased Abra, who was getting hit more and more often. Other days he dodged attacks from Nidorino or Graveler.

For eight months they trained like this. Raticate could follow Abra almost perfectly and Abra's Reflect could repel any of Raticate's attacks. Gyarados could easily take 10 full strength Thunderbolts and still have the strength to fight. Graveler was hardly phased by Weepinbel's attacks and could withstand Gyarados' for about 25 minutes solid. Nidorino's endurance and speed were way better. Nidorino could almost catch Abra and he could sustain his strength for over 2 hours. Weepinbel had become much faster physically and could dodge attacks fairly easily. It could also withstand 5 Ice Beams before taking any real damage.

Calvin had also gotten stronger. He was faster and more agile, able to hit Abra a few times. He could take several hits before losing strength and could lift Graveler off the ground. It was good progress so Calvin decided he would try his luck with the Rockets. However, he knew he couldn't do it alone so he went to Giovanni.

"I think its time to do something about the Rockets," Calvin said. Giovanni looked concerned.

"We've talked about this," he said trying to reason with his student.

"I know, but this time I have a plan." Giovanni got a curious look on his face. "I want you to tell me the locations of all of the former gym leaders and Elite 4. If I can gather the remaining ones together and convince them to stand with me, we might just have a chance."

Giovanni was impressed but wanted to let Calvin down easy. "We tried that once before and we failed."

"I know," Calvin continued. "But this time you know your opponents and you know what you're up against. You were too confident as leaders and you fell. Now Team Rocket has become over confident and if we hit them now, they will fall. We can find other trainers to help us along the way and develop new tactics for defeating the Rockets." Calvin looked at his mentor, tears coming to his eyes. "Please! Help me! Help me do something!" Giovanni could feel Calvin's enthusiasm and was caught up in it.

"Alright!" he shouted. "Let's do it!"

    "Yes!" Calvin yelled.

"Ok, we'll split up. I'll go see if I can find Blaine and Brock. You go see if you can find Lt. Surge and Koga. Then together we'll go find Sabrina, Erika, and Lance and break Agatha and Bruno out of prison. Together we might make a difference. We'll meet here once we find and convince our people.

"Lt. Surge still has family in Vermillion so you start there. Koga hides in the Safari Zone, but he's very good at remaining unseen. He is a ninja you know. I'll head to the Seafoam Islands to search for Blaine and I think Brock stays on the old Victory Road. Let's grab some supplies and head out."
