looking for very complete feeling but not overboad hacks for my first fangame. I found a reddit post that went into detail with a bunch of fangames but lost it, so i thought i'd ask here.

    Prefer:

    -Doesn't go overboard with difficulty,

-Doesn't give pokemon 4 abilities (sorry for the hacks that do, i think the base formula is fine as is ;[ )

    - feels or is close to a gamefreak game

please help a boy out! haha

Going to assume that you're looking for a game with a new adventure, region, and characters, rather than an enhancement/difficulty/catch them all/all doubles version of Emerald, Fire Red, etc.

    In that case:
    Gaia
Unbound (play on the lowest or second lowest difficulty if you want something more in line with the official games)
    Prism

Not very surprising recommendations to be honest, but those three games are basically like official Pokémon games but better. They offer new adventures while sticking to the traditional formula of collecting badges, dealing with evil team, and challenging the Elite Four. They add QoL and some features from later gens, but don't have huge game-changing fanmade features (well, Unbound does, but they're optional, just avoid the high difficulties and don't enable any special settings if you just want a traditional Pokémon experience)

    thank you.

it's not that i want the games to be easy but i don't want them to be excessively hard for no reason either. i also think 4 abilities per pokemon is just overboard.

Unbound and Prism look like something i'd enjoy honestly

Hello! For fan games fitting these criterias, I can suggest Uranium, Zeta / Omicron and Solar Light - Lunar Dark! And my top favourite, Insurgence!
