Heya! Looking for some recommendations for both fangames or rom hacks. Just have a few things I'd prefer is all, mainly since I'm a filthy casual so I honestly don't care much for those insanely restricting level caps and like to simply just have fun and enjoy a game from time to time (hard to believe people like this exist, I know!). So...
    • Ideally no level caps would be nice. I always like a degree of challenge, don't get me wrong, but again I'm just trying to enjoy a game at this rate after work so don't exactly want some level cap that will get me dunked on my some meta monkey team during a gym lol
    • Good story is especially a must, doesn't need to be long, but once again since I am trying more to enjoy a game here then obviously a good and immersive story is a good way to do such, yeah?
    • QOL changes like no HM slaves needed and whatnot is preferred, but not 100% necessary. Listen man, if Bidoof has to carry my HMs, then bidoof carries my HMs.
    • Variety of Pokemon is preferred. I love having options of even fakemon is totally fine as long as they've got some good designs going.
Otherwise that's really it. Thanks in advance!

Not to toot my own horn, but my game when it comes out in a couple of months. Pretty much a remake of the original games with the Johto storyline as well as the plot of the First Movie.

Some features: Day/night/week/month/season cycle based on real time. Dark early in winter, long summer days (none of this B/W weird season cycle)

Some Pokémon migrate depending on the season.

HMs replaced with Pokémon Skill. Essentially, certain Pokémon have special skills (Psychic types using mind to move boulders, etc) and most Pokémon only gain their skill upon evolution (ie Pidgeot using fly, but Pidgey/Pidgeotto cannot).

300 available/obtainable Pokémon. Pretty much all first/second gen except for Celebi, Delibird, Dunsparce and Smeargle with some third/fourth gen (mostly evolution lines for 1 and 2) as well as Sylveon. No Pokémon from gens 5+ except for Sylveon (that includes regional forms). Some Pokémon typings modified such as Ninetails being Fire/Psychic and Yanmega being Bug/Dragon with movesets loosely based on HGSS. All trade evolutions replaced for in game evolution as well as needing a Shellder in your party to evolve Slowpoke. In-battle evolutions (ie Charmander grows to level 16 and still have 2 more Pokémon to battle; he evolves before you battle those last 2)

None of the newer gen battle gimmicks (ie Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, etc)

Trainers and Team Rocket have more of a variety of Pokémon

Harder than the original games without overdoing it. Trainers and wild Pokémon keep up with you as you progress, so don't expect to battle against a bunch of low level trainers. Partially due to this as well as my own idea, NO LEVEL CAPS! Expect to get your team to level 100 by the end of the game due to the abundance of trainers and storyline (guesstimating 50-60 hours, but too soon to know. Might be closer to 40 hours since it's technically 2 1/2 stories in one, but rolled together into one to make sense). This does mean that the post game will be pretty small, but I also don't want a game that goes on forever lol

    Overworld encounters

Bigger maps, but nothing too crazy. This is my first time making a game, so the maps aren't 1 to 1 or even close for that matter, however, they are distinguishable to the original. Explore and you never know what you might find!

All legendaries have lore as well as some other Pokémon such as Voltorb, Porygon and Clefairy

A few Easter eggs from the original show

    And more!

In conclusion, it's about 95% true to the original games story wise, but with more emotion from the player and NPCs (you're not very happy about Team Rocket's antics). Travel Kanto and Johto as well as the Sevii Islands to stop Team Rocket in their place and rise to top as the Pokémon Master.

It's called Pokémon Expedition and I'm expecting to have it complete in the next few months. I'm already at Fuschia City as far as mapping as well as events up to Lavender Town. There's a thread on this site about it under developing games. I'll have some more screenshots and updates in the next week or so.
