4th Gen Red & Blue

I think his name will most likely change into something other than Green.

Guys it's NEVER GOING TO CHANGE. Accept it, there's no reason to change it, you guys think they are just going to change it for the sake of change? No. Just like all you people who thought Red Gyarados for some odd reason wouldn't be in, this is also a meaningless debate because Blue will be in no matter what, they can't change his name just like that.

Just out of curiosity, what was the name the name of the gym leader in the Japanese version of GSC?

Because of the constant rambling above, I'm assuming your question was ignored. However, in the Japanese version there was Red and Green Version, and the rival was named Green. With this being said, in the Japanese GSC, the Viridian Gym was named Green.

As for the English version, the two games released were Pokémon Red and Blue leaving the rival to be Blue in the games and leaving the Viridian City Gym in GSC to be named Blue.

So, it is a possibility that the name will be left as it was, but it isn't a guaranteed factor either. As said, it could possibly be altered to Green as when the Generation One remakes were released, blue wasn't made, but instead Green was, but we'll see.

I can understand your point about doubts of the Red Gyarados being in, but it's not a good comparison. Omitting the RG is a huge change in story and makeup data and programming wise, so that's not something that would change. But with the name, it's a different story. In this case it's a matter of regional translation decisions, so it could be Green or Blue, it's all up to the translators, unlike in Japan where it would only be Green. And it's only text, so it's free to easily be anything.

It's hard to tell. There are reason's why they would, but others why they wouldn't, so well just have to wait and see
