I don't think Fire Red was really necessary.

I think that Leaf Green should have been marketed as the remake of Yellow without Fire Red and had it's name changed to Leaf Green: Venusaur Version (or Edition).

INSTEAD of Fire Red, a remake of Crystal should have been made called Leaf Green: Celebi Version (or Edition).

Venusaur Version (or Edition) could be set in Kanto and you earn Johto after you defeat the Elite Four of Kanto.

Celebi Version (or Edition) could be set in Johto and you earn Kanto after you defeat the Elite Four of Johto.

It just seems to me like Fire Red was the odd one out without a remake of the original Blue by it's side. I think a lot more money could have been made if the remakes were marketed this way.

This is just one of my random thoughts that I felt like sharing with you. :P

    Your thoughts?

That'd be precisely the same thing basically. :P As for the underlined portion, this would be new to the games, but it's basically the same as the Anime. =/ The names are pretty cool, though, I suppose.

All those ideas for a name were horrible (no offense)
they combined yellow and blue to make green so there wouldnt be any need for more remakes of those games.

    yellow+blue=green
and they kept red well... purple and orange version just doesnt sound great.

Keep in mind that they really only had to make one game for FireRed and LeafGreen. They are the same game with a few different Pokemon.

The reason they didn't make the game's you suggested is because it would've taken them twice the amount of time and energy, and they would've made the same amount of money.

    It's all marketing.

They should have simply made a single Yellow Remake, and left out FR/LG.

    I liked Yellow better anyways

The original games were Red, Blue, and Yellow for the first generation. What hasn't been stated in this thread is that there was also a Green Version, but it was only known throughout Japan. Green Version never made it to the United States and it did feature Venusaur on the cover. So the names of FireRed and LeafGreen come from the original Red Version and the secret Green Version.

I agree with Heatran-- a Yellow remake would've been better.

But, most of the population of this forum still await the day that we can see a G/S remake.

It wasn't much of a secret if you kept up with Japanese news around the time. But yeah, that's where the names derive from.
