I see locked topics because people put them in the wrong forum, what most forums do is just, the admins will move the topic themselves, and will have the Moved: followed by topic name... why doesn't this forum do this?

Well, we do have that. It depends on the staff members discretion if they feel that it would be useful in the other board.

Usually when I lock a thread, it's because it's something that belongs in ROM hacking. I don't know enough about that section, but usually the threads that are obviously ROM hack related, they don't look like they'd quite qualify over there, plus threads have to be approved in that forum. So I'm not gonna move something I don't know much about, lol.

If something gets posted that belong in say, Pokemon General, I'll just move it, unless it exists in PG already. So not only does it depend on the moderator, but it depends on the contents of the thread.

I do believe that's pretty much just the rule of thumb for all us staff members.

If we feel the content isn't quite up to par with the area it should technically belong in, then we're just gonna go ahead and lock it. Doesn't make much sense for us to move a topic just so the moderator of the destination board can close it. ]: I guess we could lock it and then move it...? But that'd be a bit silly~

Hmm... I don't know for sure, but I think what he may have meant is why sometimes when a topic is moved, mods don't leave the link in the "wrong" forum with the Moved: prefix.

So yeah justinrpg, sometimes staff members either don't see a point on leaving the link because a) the topic was posted not so long ago b) the topic doesn't have that many replies, etc.

But like Fabio said, I think the option to leave the Moved: link is there. It's just not always used.

idk what other mods do when moving a thread, but I set the redirect link to disappear in an hour, because it'd just look ugly sitting there in the forum.

Yeah, it depends on how active the topic in question is. If it's a topic that's received a lot of replies, it'd probably be best to leave it for a couple days so people that replied don't get confused about its whereabouts.

But yeah, for recent topics it wouldn't be that necessary for the link to sit there for ages.
