    Hello,
I read the 10km egg thread, and people were talking about how rare eevees are. eevees spawn like weeds where I live. Please post your region (city, and a list of what you consider to you rare/weeds/common spawn... i'd like to get a sense of what people in other area are dealing with.

Greater Seattle area always seems to have tons of water pokemon.

All this is anecdotal IMHO. I'm not tracking any hard data numbers. All 'mon listed from most common to rarest (top to bottom).

    Weedy commons:
    Pidgey (#1 most abundant)
    Weedle

    clefairy
    oddish
    paras

    poliwag
    magicarp
    tentacool
    krabby

    Harder to find:

    growlithe
    ponyta
    tauros
    seel
    rhyhorn
    jigglypuff
    squirtle

    ekans
    sandshrew

    dratini
    exeggcute
    cubone

there are a few reasons for this post.

    1. regional gym strategies. since water pokemon/eevees are so common in the seattle area, you often see gyms with all vaporeon. therefore, the value of fire pokemon in this area is diminished due to type advantage. electric and grass are more sought after.

    2. trading. how will it work? do you need to be in physical close proximity to someone? I'll fly somewhere eevees are rare, and trade all my "trash" jolts/vaporeon/flareon away for stuff i'd like better.. :)

New York is pretty diverse, but as expected the more urbanized areas have the most choices.

Where I physically live, the typically common Pokémon like Pidgey, Rattata, and Weedle are a dime a dozen, but that's pretty much the case anywhere. That's the general pool of spawns, but occasionally other species like Pikachu, Growlithe, Eevee, Seel, and the starters may pop up. The rarest by far I've seen (only occurred once in my experience) was a Snorlax that spawned about a block away from the house.

Just 20 minutes north is a port town that has common Water types like Magikarp, Tentacool, Poliwag, Psyduck, and Goldeen. Periodically (very periodically) evolved forms of the aforementioned species will appear, as will Dratini. This is a place where you're also more likely to find Eevee than Rattata. It's the only place in New York that I know of that's like this.

Now in the NYC metro area, however, it's a completely different world. Central Park in Manhattan is one of the most densely populated and diverse Pokémon tracking locations in North America. The first person reported in the world to complete the regional PokéDex is from NYC and spent the vast majority of his time sitting around Central Park. You can quite literally find every single Pokémon in the regional Dex just by being there (with a hefty amount of luck, of course). I personally wrapped up the last few entries I needed there.

There are many nests around the metro area and locating them was what I did when I needed to fill out evolutions. Whether it's collecting Charmander candies en masse, grinding out Dratini candies, hoarding up Magikarp, you name it, there's a location somewhere in the city that serves as a nest. The rarer ones (colloquially called mythically rare) like Lapras and Snorlax sporadically appear throughout the city and many players took it upon themselves to track their movements. There are some trends, but still very unpredictable unless you personally want to cover an area at least 2-3 miles in radius.

Lapras is very rare, but I know in some New England areas they appear much more often.

I like this idea because I like to see what other people see in their areas.

I used to be in southern California (man, I miss that pokemon-wise) but don't remember in enough detail exactly what's available there. But in Hanover, NH at Dartmouth College (and pretty much the entire Upper Valley) where I now live, here's what it looks like.

Seattle has a decent Facebook group that has been documenting spawns (nests) for some of the harder to find stuff. do you guys have anything like that?

I looked for stuff like that for Dartmouth/Upper Valley New Hampshire...no luck :(

Although very small group on the GoChat app. One person reported a Kangaskhan O_o I saw no proof, so I don't quite buy it at this point.
