Well a couple of weekends ago at eb games there was this sign that said you can reserve Pokemon Diamond and/or Pearl. I have some questions though about it...

    1) If you go to reserve it, do you have to pay there, or when you get the game?

    2) How long will reservations be of availibilty? Like, my mom says I have to do something for her first before she reserves it for me, but I don't want her to wait to long so that you can't reserve anymore..

    3) How much does Pokemon Diamond cost to reserve? Like, how much is the game itself?

Well, it may be a bit different based on where you live but when I went to go reserve my copy of Pearl, they had me pay 5 dollars down so that when I came to pick up the copy I would have one reserved for me and I would be discounted 5 dollars off the total price. The game costs 34.99 at original price IIRC.

I'm not too sure how long the deadline is to reserve, but the sooner the better. Sorry I couldn't be too much help on the last question. =/

I can't imagine that they'll be impossible to find without a reservation, so unless you really want the special stylus that comes with pre-ordering, I wouldn't worry too much.

I chose to just pay off the entire cost of the game when I reserved it a few months ago. It saved me the frustration and temptation of holding onto the $40 for the game. :P

how reserving works: it's usually 5 bucks for reserving. when you go to pick it up, those 5 bucks work towards the purchase. however, just about all stores are selling the games at 39.99 when the retail price is actually 34.99.

you must also consider that your reservation may be overceded when it comes to the supply of games at just one store. i remember reserving Diddy Kong Racing at Gamestop and having classes the day i was supposed to pick it up. i showed up, but i showed up 2 hours before the store closed and they didn't have any more copies left. they weren't able to get anymore of them until a week later, which screwed me over because if i would have ordered it on Amazon, i would have gotten it for 6 bucks less (including standard shipping and handling) two days after it released rather a whole week. it would have been cheaper because of (1) the retail price is below the price sold at the store and (2) the difference between S&H and the tax given at the store.

so to sum up, i ordered on Amazon for Pearl and the total with S&H came to $39.50, while the store price is $39.99, and with tax, it'll come to a total of about $43-44. i'd rather pay less and have it be taken to me after a few days wait then pay more and go to the store and find out that they don't have any more copies.

I'm not real fond of Electronics Boutique myself, so I preordered mine on Amazon. I got the Free Super Saver Shipping thing, so that was taken care of, and it came to $51 Canadian altogether. ($43 US Dollars) That's because taxes are a bit higher in Newfoundland and Labrador.

I never have and never will trust ebGames when it comes to the fact that I want something within a few days of release. Amazon is usually great with that. My last pre-ordered item arrived on release date.

If i were you i would pre-order. So i can escape all the crazyness of getting it on game day. I would pre-order but i am going to spend all of my $ buying new game from target.

Oh, so you mean by just reserving you ae only garunteed on getting one; not when you'll get it or anything? Geez..that sucks, then what's the point of reserving in the first place? lol

Well thanks a lot for the info guys, it really helped me out. :) Maybe if I can convince my mom that it's cheaper getting it from Amazon then she'll let me..*hopefully*

I've never had a problem getting a reserved game on its release date—stores shouldn't be taking pre-orders before they have their allocations, and once they do, they shouldn't exceed them. o.o; Just bare in mind that with Amazon, you will have to wait for it to be shipped. I personally think that it'd be faster to just go out and purchase it. Again though, up to you.

I'm just afraid they'll run out before I get a chance to get one. x__x

My mom said I couldn't buy it from Amazon. *darnit* But the money problem's with her...I don't mind reserving it as long as I get it the quickest x.x

I don't think that'll be the case. Pokemon, while still popular, isn't the phenomenon it used to be, so I'm sure you'll be able to find it at a local store like Wal-mart or Target. If you're still concerned, a pre-order from a games store will almost certainly ensure that you get it at launch, plus most places are giving away exclusive styluses with pre-orders.

I don't really understand the issue with pre-ordering. I mean usually the extras that come with the pre-order really aren't worth it and you can buy the game from a fully stocked store a week later. That's what I did for Pokemon: FireRed and I got the game about 5 days before my friend who pre-ordered it did.

I'll never understand why people pre-order. Importing is another story however.

Heh you should see how it is here in stockton. Heck about 20,000 people came to get their reserved Emerald version (excluding me). You here me? 20,000!!! Anyways if you live somewhere close to Stockton or live in California or New York , You're most likely to find barely any D/P games left =P

I'm contemplating pre-ordering mine from Best Buy's website. But I wonder... Do they ship it the day it comes out, or a little before? And will I still get my super cool stylus? Does anybody know?

I allready paid 22 for the game so I only have like 13 dollars for the game, but I could go and put some mroe down on the game today.

I preorder from Amazon, so it could be different, but usually with them things are shipped a day before release, or on release sometimes for people that preorder,
