Soon they came to a small pool of water so Shelby figured it would be a good idea to take a break. She plopped down on a rock and Charmeleon sat next to her. Then she grabbed her pack off of her shoulder and dug around until she found some sandwiches that had fallen to the bottom of the bag. They looked a bit mushy and disgusting, but she knew that she had to eat. When she cautiously took a bit, she was pleased to find that contrary to how they looked, the sandwiches tasted great.
Charmeleon sniffed that food for a moment and then dug around her pack himself. Shelby watched as a few seconds later, he came up with a small container of Pokémon food. Shelby blinked, I didn't even know that was in there. She felt bad for making her Pokémon eat off of berries, but she figured that it was probably a good thing that the rest of the food they could eat would at least taste moderately good.
She soon finished the sandwich, and then walked to the small pond to fill the canteen she had with water. Then she took a long drink to wash all of it down. With a yawn, she turned to Charmeleon to find that he had just finished his Pokémon food. She handed him the canteen and he drank as well. Charmeleon had its fill, and then Shelby brought out her other Pokémon for a bit of a longer break. She spread out the Pokémon food, glad there was enough for all of them plus leftovers.
She and Charmeleon sat back to back on the rock as they all ate. Abra seemed a bit more interested in sleeping, but ate nonetheless. Yanmega finished his very quickly, so Shelby gave him some extra. They all seemed happy and full once this was done. Shelby recalled all of them—save for Charmeleon—and then stood up. Charmeleon yawned a little and then walked towards the steps. Shelby jogged after him to keep up, and they descending up the dark steps once more.
Charmeleon's flame was wagging in Shelby's face, making her sticky with sweat. She knew that by now she probably stunk, and she really wished she could at least wash up somewhere. As much she wanted to, Shelby knew that she wasn't going to dirty perfectly good water just because she stunk. Soon they came to a small landing. Shelby opened her canteen and poured some water on her head. Charmeleon protested as she did this, but when she didn't get hurt he settled down.
"Char!" Charmeleon said suddenly. Shelby jumped, dropping the canteen. She looked at Charmeleon and asked what was wrong.
"Ursa!" a cry came from next to them. There was a Teddiursa sitting next to Shelby's canteen, looking like it was about to pick it up and run off with it.
"Don't—" Shelby began.
"Ursa, ursa!" Teddiursa called. It gave a grin and then grabbed the canteen, running up the steps with it. Shelby cried out and ran after the wild Pokémon. Charmeleon was hot on her heels. They chased Teddiursa for a while, before Shelby finally had an idea. She grabbed Abra's pokeball.
"Abra teleport in front of that Teddiursa and stop it," Shelby called and she tossed the pokeball. Abra popped out and then popped in front of Teddiursa, causing the little Pokémon to slam into Abra. Teddiursa looked at Abra angrily, seeming to have completely forgotten about the canteen. Shelby plucked it back and stored it in her pack. Just as she looked back up, Teddiursa slammed its claws into Abra.
"Ursa!" Teddiursa called.
"Be that way then," Shelby grumbled. "Abra, teleport away and use focus punch," Shelby said. Abra teleported away a few feet, and then began to focus his energy. Teddiursa scrambled up the rocks towards Abra, but it didn't quite make it. Abra slammed its fist into Teddiursa, causing Teddiursa to fall down the rocks. It slammed to the ground and then started to cry. Shelby blinked. Is this an attack? She wondered.
Abra got closer, but when it did Teddiursa suddenly scratched it once more. Shelby's eyes widened. Abra teleported away, rubbing his face. "Ursa, ursa!" Teddiursa laughed. Abra looked on angrily, and it began to store energy for another focus punch. Once the energy was released, Abra teleported right behind Teddiursa and slammed its fist into the wild Pokémon once more. Teddiursa started crying for real this time, and ran away from them. Shelby sighed softly and recalled Abra, looking at the long steps. She groaned, will this ever end? Then she and Charmeleon began to ascend once more.
(OOC: Short...very...very sorry about that...battling Pokemon so much is beginning to stretch my mind XD)
