Well hello, as you can see I'm e4darthteej. I'm new to both Pokecomunity and competitive battling, but I'm going to do my best at both.

Without further ado my team is: Luxray, Blissey,Skarmory, Gengar, Scizor, and Salamence.

    Luxray@Choice Scarf (F) Hasty
    Intimidate
    200 Atk. 252 Sp. 52 Sp. Atk
    Superpower
    Fire fang
    Thunderbolt
    Thunderwave

It's the Leading Lady Luxray! No one gets in her way! Luxray's purpose is to shut down the opponents lead, then switch out and fight another day. Superpower causes major damage to anything that comes first, and I can use it against Blissesy, Ttars, and Weaviles later. Thunderbolt removes Gyrados along with any water or flying type that might lead. Thunderwave is used to cripple sweepers that come out first right off the bat. Fire fang deals with all of those Scizors out there. Also If anyone wants to try something like this I've thought up of variations on this set with Flareon(will o' wisp) and Gallade(Will O' Wisp and Thunderwave) but what do I know?

    Skarmory @Leftovers (N/A) Impish
    Keen Eye
    252 HP 200 D. 52 Atk.
    Stealth Rock
    Toxic
    Roar
    Roost
This is my supporting Pokemon. Rather than go with Brave Bird I decided that to really stack up the residual damage I'd use a SR--->Toxic---> Roar. Against any wall other than Blissey it ought to do pretty well.

    Blissey @ Leftover (F) Modest
    Natural Cure
    252 D. 252 Sp. Atk. 4 HP
    Calm Mind
    Thunderbolt
    Ice beam
    Softboiled

And speak of the devil! This spot was originally taken by Slowking, but three ghost and dark weaknesses is too much. Basically the strategy is to pull off as many calm minds as possible and then attack. The max defense evs are so that I can stay in against any physical attacked that comes my way. I've already got the electric coverage with Luxray, so I figure that I can use flamethrower to help with steels. Ice beam takes care of Salamence and the possible defensive Dragonite that I've seen being suggested.

    Gengar @Life Orb (N/A) Timid
    Levitate
    252 Spd. 252 Sp. Atk.
    Shadow Ball
    Will o' Wisp
    Focus Blast
    Hidden Power(Fire)
Pretty self explanatory. I use Shadow Ball for STAB and Focus Blast to deal with those pesky dark types. Will o' Wisp cripples physical sweepers and, when used in Tandem with Luxray's Twave, paves the way for Salamence. Finally HP Fire deals with all of those steel types.

    Scizor (N/A) @Choice Band Adamant
    Technician
    248 HP 252 Atk. 8 Sp.
    Bullet Punch
    U-Turn
    Superpwer
    Pursuit
Ah here it is. Scizor! the new hot thing in competitive battling. You all know the uses for it, so there's no reason to explain. You know, Scizor becoming the so great is really a great example of a win/win situation. It's totally awesome and it's great at battling, you get to use your favourite AND use a high OU. Everybody wins!

    Salamence @Perism Berry/Life Orb (M) Naive
    Intimidate
    252 Atk. 252 Spd.
    Dragon Dance
    Outrage
    Earthquake
    Fire Blast

This is also pretty self-explanatory. I bring it in once the field's clear of anything that could take it down, use dragon dance, and BAM! instant sweep. What I'm wondering about though is the last move slot. It's obviously meant to take down Skarmory and Bronzong, but I could see some other uses for it. If anyone has some suggestions, well, that's why I made this thread.

So that's about it. The ETA on this team's completion is in in about two weeks give or take, and rest assured that once it's done I'll be on the quick battles thread faster than you can say newbie. So rate mah' first team please, and I'll see you on the battlefield!

I want a Jolly Salamence for the speed bonus, otherwise too many things outrun it.

Use Naive please. Doesn't hinder the power of Fire Blast, and Salamence isn't meant to be taking hits anyways, so the defense drop doesn't matter.

Focus Blast>>Sludge Bomb and Thunderbolt>>Hypnosis on Gengar. Drop the Wide Lens for Life Orb/Choice Scarf. Poison doesn't provide much coverage, while Ghost+Fighting gives you perfect coverage. Thunderbolt is there just for another powerful move, and it kills Gyara nicely. Scarf if you want to revenge stuff (Mence and Gyara after a DD), or Life Orb for more of a sweeper. Use Timid>>Modest if you go Scarf though.

Also, drop Focus Sash on Alakazam for Life Orb. With the prominence of Stealth Rock and Sandstorm, the sash will just get broken anyways, leaving it useless. But some oomph into its attacks.

    I'll drop by later.

I decided to take most of your advice. While it says that Salamence is Naive I've already raised a Jolly Salamence, and unless I start playing really competitvley I'm going to be too lazy to change that. You're right about Gengar needing Focus Blast however I still prefer my dual status set. I also changed Alakazam to a sub-berry moveset; the idea of a special attack above 300 is just too smexy to ignore. Thanks for all of your help Jake.

Hello there. On Gengar you might consider hidden power fire if steels/grass types decide to switch in on you. On Blissy I'd consider using seismic toss as one of the moves.

Focus Blast deals with all steals but Skarmory, and I can WoW that.I also don't have I don't have a copy of FR/LG so I can't have a TossBliss(that's what it's called right?)

Modest LO Gar is actually a bad idea, since there are too many things between 319 and 350 speed (think Infernape, Latias, LO Zapdos) that he simply can't afford to be hit by.

Ahhhh thanks for the tip, *sigh* I guess it's back to Solaceon Town. Out of curiosity what does LO stand for?

    Edit:LIfe Orb duhXD

Edited again:Hey I just want to thank you all for the great advice so far*thumbs up*. Also I'm assuming that since you're all offering relatively minor suggestions that you can't spot any crippling flaws in this team?

+Alakazam wants Timid, again its a case of too many things beating it with Modest.

+Id slap HP Fire on Gengar >> D-Bond. Really, things like Scizor, Metagross, Jirachi, Zong get free switch ins which is why its pretty much needed these days. All of these things wall Alakazam too so you could cripple those with Gar which would make zams sweeping job alot easier.

+Skarmory wants the HP and Def evs swapping over, you gain more defensive potential this way. It also wants Whirlwind or Roar >> Toxic to help with stat uppers and Brave Bird >> Drill peck so you can actually immediately threaten pokemon. Drill Peck sucks hard, it cant even OHKO Infernape rofl.

    +4 HP / 252 Def / 252 Sp.A on calm mind bliss @ modest plz.

+Gengat wants Timid >> Hasty since you arent using physical moves.

+Luxray seems to be the odd one out, its not really the best revenge killer but it outspeeds Adamant Gyarados ever a DD, so i guess it could work, but that set is ughh.

    Luxray@Choice Scarf
    252 ATT / 252 SPEED / 6 HP
    Jolly Nature
    Trait : Intimidate
    - SuperPower
    - Spark
    - Ice Fang
    - Fire Fang

Needs Ice Fang for dragons mainly. Fire Fang for Scizor is a priority since you are pretty weak to it. If you want paralysis support dont use T-Wave on a scarfer, use Spark for its high paralysis chance. Superpower is a given for Heatran, Tar etc.

+I also dont like the fact that you dont have any priority, that and Alakazam isnt doing anything for you and if foe Mence gets in a DD you auto lose or if Tyranitar comes in on Blissey you have to sacrifice a pokemon just to revenge kill it. A choice band Scizor >> Zam would help with the aformentioned problems immensly. I would highly consider this.

    *image removed*@Choice Band
    Adamant Nature
    248 HP / 252 ATT / 8 SPeed
    Trait : Technician
    - Bullet Punch
    - U-Turn
    - Superpwer / Brick Break
    - Pursuit

Just some thought here. Not bad for a first team though.

With both Gengar AND Alakazam on the same team, not to mention CM Bliss, the team looks awfully susceptible to Pursuit as well.

I've replaced Skarmory with Metagross,(nevermind, I could have sworn that it could learn Fire Punch by tutor) but what I really need is another special sweeper besides Zam.
My problem with that is that I don't have access to all of the usual suspects. All of the legendaries taht I've caught in my Platinum have had bad natures, and I can't get the 3rd gen ones because I don't own the 3rd gen games. What I really want is SpecsMence, but species clause invalidates that. Any suggestions?

Editedyetagain: Just forget this post ever existed. Dark_Azelf's advice was really good and as such I am replacing Zam with Scizor. After that I think this team will be pretty good.

Wait...what the heck did you do that for ? Metagross doesnt counter Scizor because it doesnt get fire punch nor did i suggest it. Luxray is fine with Scizor thanks to intimidate, resistance to Bullet Punch and has Fire Fang, Skarmory is fine with Scizor too.

Metagross doesnt help here, Skarmory actually helped more tbh since it actually supported your team. Maybe you miss read my post ? If so i suggest you read over it again.

Hey I just want to thank everyone for all of the help again. You know when I first thought up of this team 2 months ago it consisted of Aerodactyl, Ledian, Magmortar, Ursaring, Gengar, and Umbreon. Well, I guess Gengar's still there XD.

Anyway I think this team's pretty good now, and I don't want to change it too much. If you have suggestions fine, but it's not very likely that I'm going to take them.
