This is the first team Ive created. Ive tried it out a few times, and havent had too many problems, but Ive mainly been battling people who dont quite know what they are doing. So Im trying to get some feedback on any/every aspect of my team, so I can progress into the upper eschalons of batttling.
My team is based around being pretty offensive, having pretty much all sweepers. I have two main questions though: 4/6 of my team can be leads, and Im wondering if the one I chose (Metagross) is the best option. Secondly, I use SR + TS in my team through Meta and Roserade, but have no one to spin block. I was wondering whether 2 hazards was overkill, and whether I will need a spin blocker in the future?
Anyway, without further adieu!
LEAD: Adamant Metagross w/ Occa Berry. EVS: 252Atk/24Spa/232Spe
Move 1 - Stealth Rock
Move 2 - Earthquake (would Meteor Mash be better?)
Move 3 - Bullet Punch
Move 4 - Explosion
Basically I send him in then use SR. I will pretty much keep him in and use it to kill the other lead or any switches etc until he is near death, then Ill just use explosion. Earthquake hits pretty much everyone, while bullett seed is useful as Meta's speed is fairly low. Im not sure whether to replace Earthquake with Meteor Mash so I can have a STAB?
SWEEPER: Naughty Kingdra w/ Life Orb EVS: 252Atk/24Spa/232Spe
Move 1 - Dragon Dance
Move 2 - Waterfall
Move 3 - Outrage
Move 4 - Hydro Pump (Maybe Ice Beam instead???)
Basically use DD first. Then Waterfall or Outrage depending on the Pokemon. Hydro Pump is used to take out big bulky type pokemon. Not sure whether to Replace Hydro with IceBeam so when against dragons Im not forced to repeat outrage and become confused.
SWEEPER: Timid Roserade w/ Focus Sash EVs: 4Hp/252Spa/252Spe
Move 1 - Toxic Spikes
Move 2 - Sleep Powder
Move 3 - Grass Knot (Would Energy Ball be better?)
Move 4 - Hidden Power Fire (Would HP Ice be better allowing Kingdra to use Hydro Pump?)
I realise this is the set used to have Roserade as a lead, but I wanted one with toxix spikes. This is what Im most confused about, as to whether I need another pokemon to set up a 2nd Hazard. Anyway, Ill usually switch Roserade in when there is a slow-ish or large Pokemon. I try to get her in the first 5ish turns to set up Spikes. Ill use sleep to force a switch, and then switch Rose herself to something that would most likely be super effective against what the other team would switch to. Grass Knot is there for some offense. As is HP fire (see question next to move)
SWEEPER: Adamant Machamp w/ Choice Band EVs: 252Hp/252Atk/4Spe
Move 1 - Close Combat
Move 2 - Payback
Move 3 - Ice Punch
Move 4 - Bullett Punch
Ill usually bring in Machamp on the Bulkier, more defensive or high HP Pokemon. He does good against Snorlax/Blissey, and can pack quite a punch against other pokemon which mine just cant get down. Close Combat is a great STAB, while Payback is good as Machamp is pretty slow. Ice punch is used for flying switch-ins against him, and Bullett Punch helps out to get down an already low health pokemon.
SWEEPER: Jolly Aerodactyl w/ Life Orb EVs: 252Atk/4Def/252 Spe
Move 1 - Stone Edge
Move 2 - Earthquake
Move 3 - Taunt (hardly use it, was thinking of either Fly or Sky Attack instead)
Move 4 - Roost
I originally had Aerodactyl as my lead, but decided he would be better as a sweeper. Stone edge is a good STAB, while earthquake works well against those electric and steel types which are Super Effective. I really dont use taunt much at all, and Roost is good for recovering health due to his fraility. He is also able to draw out water-based pokemon, allowing me to switch in Joleton for some quick kills. I was considering swapping Aerodactyl for something else, as I originally only had him for SR. He works fine, and I wanted a flying pokemon to increase my synergy/typing, but Im thinking if there may be a better sweeper out there?
SWEEPER: Timid Jolteon w/ Choice Specs EVs: 252Spa/4Spd/252Spe
Move 1 - Thunderbolt
Move 2 - Shadowball
Move 3 - Baton Pass
Move 4 - Hidden Power Grass
Jolteon is great for taking out water types, especially Gyarados (4x Super Effective). Thunderbolt allows for a great STAB, while ShadowBall gives me the only Ghost Move on my team, allowing him to switch in for Ghost or Psychic pokemon. Baton Pass is great for using Jolteon as a scout, or for drawing out a ground pokemon and then putting in Kingdra. HP grass is useful against ground types which are super effective against Jolteon, or Swampert which it is 4x Super Effective.
Thats it! Sorry I know its a loooong post, but its my first team and I really wanna get it right =) I am really concerned about Roserade/Aerodactyls place on my team, and the moves which Ive questioned I really need help with. Also, I am a little concerned that I have no psychic pokemon or moves on my team, and whether that will hinder me in the future.
Anyway, thanks for reading! =)
