So if you know the rules of the VGC, I'd like some help in deciding my team for it. It's a 4v4 double battle tournament, but you can have 6 on your team sheet (which doesn't seem to make sense, why would you change your team around if you don't receive new information to warrant switching?) Also, you can have 6 items but no more than one of the same item (you can switch the items between pokemon though). So I am having the most trouble with items. Anyway, here goes:

    1) Lugia - Timid - 252hp/64def/192spe - Leftovers
    -Toxic
    -Reflect
    -Recover/Roost
    -Aeroblast/Psychic

Lead toxic staller. Lead with Flygon. Toxic the foes and setup reflects for extra defense. Roost or Recover for regaining health. Not sure, either Aeroblast or Psychic for damage.

    2) Flygon - Jolly - 240atk/18def/44spd/208spe - Choice Band/Scarf/Lum Berry
    -Earthquake
    -Outrage
    -Dragon Claw/Stone Edge
    -U-Turn

Physical Attacker, STAB moves, Lead with Lugia, U-Turn for scouting. Lum berry would help with confusion from Outrage, choice band/scarf for extra attack or speed.

    3a)Latias - Modest - 128hp/128spa/252spe - Leftovers/Petaya Berry/?
    -Calm Mind
    -Dragon Pulse
    -Psychic/Wish
    -Recover

CM Defensive Latias. Calm Mind to boost SPA, dragon pulse for STAB, Wish for support or psychic for STAB, recover for recovery.

    -or-

    3b)Gengar - Timid - 4hp/252spa/252spe - Choice Scarf/Papaya Berry/Wide Lens

    -Hypnosis
    -Confuse Ray
    -Shadow Ball
    -Dark Pulse

Status-er. Choice scarf for speed, papaya for psychics, wide lens for hypnosis accuracy. Shadow ball for STAB, Dark pulse for ghosts and psychics.

    4)Kygore - Calm - 4hp/252spa/252spe - Choice Specs/Life Orb/Leftovers
    -Water Spout/Calm Mind
    -Hydro Pump
    -Ice Beam
    -Thunder

Option 1: Special Attacker, Bring in to replace Lugia, Drizzle ups water and makes Thunder 100%. Ice Beam for Dragons.

Option 2: I could use Kyogre as a substitute/calm minder. But this might not work, mainly because a substitute can be broken so easy in double battles.

    5) Metagross - Impish - 14hp/252atk/124def/60spd/60spe - Life Orb/Shuca Berry
    -Agility
    -Meteor Mash
    -Zen Headbutt
    -Hammer Arm/Earthquake

Agiligross, STAB moves, shuca berry for ground weakness, hammer arm over earthquake for type coverage and to avoid damaging teammates.

    6) Giratina-O - Modest - 248atk/64spa/196spe - Griseous Orb
    -Shadow Force
    -Dragon Pulse
    -Earth Power
    -Ancient Power

Mixed Attacker, Shadow Force and Dragon Pulse for STAB, earth power to avoid damaging teammate, ancient power for stat boosts.

Man this a pain in the ass, XD.

Any help is MUCH appreciated. I procrastinated for too long, now there's not much time.

    EVs, Natures and items?

Also, you cannot use the following because they are uber:
    Lugia, Ho-oh, Giratina-O

Go to here to study more about uber tier. Thanks

Anywho, I'm not very experienced with Double Battles or the VGC but I'll try to help. Lugia would be a better Toxistaller than Ho-Oh, better defenses, not 4x weak to Rock and has better defensive stats.

Suicune probably wants Rest over Sub, or a third attack of some kind, Extrasensory would be nice, give it the Wacan Berry, since Kyogre is apparently everywhere in the VGC so that means Thunder will be popular as well.

Kyogre looks good. I would go specs since it hits like a truck but, once again, I'm not sure how good choice items are in double battles.

Flygon looks good, I would go Choice Band on it though, scarf Flygon is pretty bad.

I would go with Wide Lens on Gengar, since Hypnosis has arse accuracy.

Thats all I got, like I said, I'm not experienced with Double Battles or the VGC, and all this advice is based off of information I have picked up from other people discussing it.

Good luck at the VGCs. ~

The following Pokémon NOT eligible for use in the tournament:
    151 - Mew
    251 - Celebi
    385 - Jirachi
    386 - Deoxys
    489 - Phione
    490 - Manaphy
    491 - Darkrai
    492 - Shaymin
    493 - Arceus

    Go study before posting please.

Anyways, I'm not on the basis on doubles or the fact that you can only use 4 Pokemon, but I know you need Stealth Rock on your team or you're not going to do very well. If anything, I'd consider replacing Kyogre with something that can do that since rain doesn't benefit Suicune much or the rest of your team. Honestly, I'd replace it with Skarmory.

    Skarmory @ Leftovers/Shed Shell
    Trait: Keen Eye
    Nature: Impish
    EVs: 252 HP / 64 Atk / 176 Def / 16 Spe
    - Brave Bird
    - Roost
    - Whirlwind
    - Stealth Rock

Lead with this as well as Lugia if you want to. Also use Roost on Lugia since it gets rid of the nasty Ice/Electric/Rock weakness for one turn.

Flygon should use Fire Blast/Punch >> Dragon Claw and give it a Choice Scarf

Also having 3 Pokemon weak to Electric is bad, and Flygon can't take hits forever. Replace Suicune with something that can sponge Electric hits as well as dish out special hits. I'd recommend Defensive CM Latias

    Latias @ Leftovers
    Trait: Levitate
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 128 SpA / 252 Spe / 128 HP
    - Calm Mind
    - Dragon Pulse
    - Refresh/HP Fire
    - Recover

If you choose to go Refresh, it gives you something to bsorb status with as well.

As far as I know, SR isn't as prominent or useful in double battles. Also, If I go with latias, could I replace refresh/hp fire for STAB Psychic, or maybe Wish? But then again, wouldn't having two dragon types be a disadvantage as well? Also, If i give leftovers to Lugia, I can't use them on Latias. Who needs it more? And what would I give the other?

Hey, ubers arent banned in VGC (with some exceptions). Study more about VGC before posting in a VGC RMT. Thanks

Hey, mini-mods aren't supposed to be in S&M (with some exceptions). Study more about the S&M Rules before posting in S&M. Thanks

Ok, I updated my first post. Any other ideas? opinions on Latias? I also am thinking about using my status-er Gengar instead of Latias. What do you think? I don't have too much time, I've got to start training now. I'm solid on Lugia, Flygon, and Kyogre. It's just that last slot. Plus deciding who gets what item due to the fact you can't have more than one of the same item.

Toxic is preeeetty bad in doubles. The battles are too quick for it to make a difference. Change it for maybe Safeguard, to prevent annoying Smeargle leads from ruining your fun, or Protect for scouting and Explosion protection. Both Aeroblast and Psychic have very poor coverage- use Tailwind or Thunder Wave in that slot, for team support. Oh, and keep the Lum Berry.

Flygon is okay, but Outrage's random targeting in doubles makes it undesirable. Use Fire Blast in that slot to maim Bronzong leads (or at least dent it). Choice Band is okay if you're going to use Tailwind with Lugia and is willing to take huge risks, otherwise a Life Orb could prove more useful as being locked in one move could be horrible for you.

For the last two Pokémon, your Backup Plan is a lot better than the two main ones, really. Metagross provides awesome coverage and Explosion, which is a great resource in doubles, while Giratina-O grabs you not only the Ground immunity both Latias and Gengar have but also Gengar's Ghost-typing and a more effective STAB move in the Dragon-type. But use Explosion on Metagross instead of Zen Headbutt and Earthquake over Hammer Arm. As for Giratina-O, change Ancientpower for Shadow Sneak- priority is always a good thing.

Actually, with Paralyze or Tailwind support from Lugia, I don't think you need to use Agility on Metagross- feel free to slap Zen Headbutt, Thunder Punch or Bullet Punch in that slot. If you think you still need Agility, that's fine too.

    Good luck at the VGC!

So you are saying I should get rid of Latias and Kyogre? So then my team would be:

    Lugia, Flygon, Metagross, Giratina-O

That kind of get rid of Rain boost and Thunder Coverage though. Also, Lum berry on Lugia instead of leftovers? Who should get leftovers then?
