Weavile @ Life Orb
252 ATk, 252 Speed,
Adamant
- Night Slash
- Ice Punch
- Ice Shard
- Brick Break
My quickest pokemon, it is a quick killer. Moveset could be improved, but seems fine for now. Ice Shard is for any Brelooms that it faces, to get quicker and hopefully 1HKO. Life Orb helps with speedy kills.
With just Life Orb to boost Weavile's strength in its attacks, it's not going to be going very far. You need more strategy and just over all power, which is what Choice Band does. Seeing as Gengar is your lead in this team (which is... well, kind of confusing), we're going to skip the Anti-lead set for Weavile and cut right to the Choice Banded Revenge killer variant. Not like it really matters, but remember you still have 4 left over EVs after using 252 and 252 in two other slots, giving you a 508 useable total. Max speed isn't really required on Weavile though, since it already outruns most contestants in its speed tier with 216 Speed EVs. The only reason you would actually need 252 Speed EVs is when you're up against another Weavile with Brick Break. I'd suggest 216 Speed / 252 Attack / 40 HP to gain the ability to survive a Flamethrower from Azelf and a Modest Specs'd Starmie, not to mention a slim chance of surviving Azelf with Expert Belt and Flamethrower. Now we're going to play around with the moveset a little for a little revenge killing, shall we? You don't need both Ice Punch and Ice Shard. I'd rather switch one out for Pursuit to make Weavile a better revenge killer, which is what Weavile does best. Suggesting the following set: -
Weavile @ Choice Band
Trait: Pressure
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 Attack / 216 Speed / 40 HP
- Pursuit
- Ice Punch / Ice Shard
- Night Slash
- Brick Break
It's a simple revenge kill set, with Pursuit being the move that it really centralizes around. If you don't know what revenge killing is, it's quite simple. After one of your Pokemon faints, you switch into your revenge killer to kill the Pokemon that fainted your other. What this set does is switch in after a fainted Pokemon or find some safe switch in, and kill the Pokemon you're fighting easily. If it gets an easy switch in on Gengar's Shadow Ball, it can Pursuit Gengar to death with Gengar having no hope left to go. Get it now? XD
Alakazam@Odd Incense
252 Sp.Atk, 252 Speed
Modest
- Focus Blast
- Psychic
- Trick Room
- Thunder Wave
This pokemon is part of a strategy that needs work, involving a Shuckle. Trick Room and T-Wave joined together can make even the slowest (which becomes quick with Trick Room) slow, and the Quickest slow.
The EV Point issue comes up here again. I know, it's not a big deal but hey, you've got nothing to lose! Sooo... I honestly don't get how the Trick Room / Thunder Wave thing works together. Trick Room really destroys Alakazam and most of the rest of your team, besides Shuckle. The rest of your team is pretty fast already, with Shuckle being the black sheep at 5 Speed. But really, if it's only going to work with one other Pokemon then I highly suggest you'd not use it. Shuckle's Power Trick strategy doesn't even work very well to start with. It actually never posed as a thread anymore, and it's definitely ruined by priority moves and pursuit and the like. Shuckle is easy to bring down. Search for another moveset, like Alakazam's signature TrickSpecs. You've got the EVs almost right, but we've got to play around with that moveset a little. Like its name says, it's going to hold Choice Specs. Two moves are going to replace Trick Room and Thunder Wave. Say hello to Signal Beam and Trick! :D Signal Beam is a nice new addition from Platinum which gives Alakazam the ability to hit bug types, while Trick just follows it's moveset name. I'll explain later. Here's the TrickSpecs moveset: -
Alakazam @ Choice Specs
Trait: Synchronize
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 Special Attack / 252 Speed / 4 HP
- Psychic
- Signal Beam
- Focus Blast
- Trick / Hidden Power [FIRE]
How this moveset works is that Alakazam starts out with a Choice Specs, which is actually a pretty good item to start out in general. It gives Alakazam some surefire power to abuse that 135 Special Attack. This moveset definitely abuses its high Special Attack and Speed. But wait! What if a Blissey comes out? Your options are to hopelessly use Focus Blast and get slammed with Paralysis, switch out, or play a
Trick on Blissey. Blissey simply can't stand having Choice Specs onto it. It's not an offensive Pokemon by nature, and it's offenses are weak. Why not lock it into one move? Trick Choice Specs onto Blissey and you've made it useless.
Shuckle @ Leftovers
252 Def, 252 Sp.Def
Calm
- Power Trick
- Earthquake
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock
My main defence, and when teamed with Alakazam, the deadliest. Power Trick makes its Attack 559 by switching ATK and Def. Earthquake can KO when this strategy is in play, but may be replaced with Stone Edge. If the strategy isn't completed, then it becomes a setup with Toxic and Stealth Rock.
Now I'd just scrap this Pokemon in general. It's not as nearly as effective as it is in Sandstorm. It's just set-up bait for steel Pokemon. With no real way to do damage, it's pretty much useless outside of Toxic. However, if you insist on using Shuckle, then I can still offer you some advice. Scrap Power Trick, it isn't worth messing around with. Way to fragile and unnefficient for reasons stated earlier in Alakazam's little article there. I'd replace Power Trick with Encore. What is Shuckle doing without Rest anyways? Replace Earthquake with Rest; Shuckle is NOT going anywhere with a 10 in it's attack stat. Put Impish nature on Shuckle because it needs more defense than special defense. Invest more EVs into Shuckle in defense. Not much else I can say here; it really isn't the kind of "amazing wall" that most people take it as. I'd scrap it, but it's up to you. Shuckle's reccommended set here: -
Shuckle @ Leftovers
Trait: Gluttony
Nature: Impish
EVs: 252 HP / 208 Def / 48 SpD
- Rest
- Encore
- Toxic
- Knock Off / Stealth Rock
Yeah...
Gengar with Choice Specs
252 Sp.Atk, 252 Speed
Modest
- Thunderbolt
- Will-O-Wisp
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
A very powerful pokemon, these moves affect all types. Will-O-Wisp Burns, hurting any Shuckle or Blissey against this. It also reduces Attack, making this my lead most of the time.
...what on earth is Will-o-Wisp doing on a Choice Specs Pokemon? .__.; I'm not sure which variant you want, so I'll be listing both movesets down below. Anyways, there's not much else I can say here. The EVs are good with 4 in HP, aaaand Timid is an alternative choice. That's about it, I'll say. Here's the two sets I mentioned earlier: -
Gengar @ Choice Specs / Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
Nature: Modest / Timid
EVs: 252 Special Attack / 252 Speed / 4 HP
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Trick / Hidden Power [ICE]
K, yeah, if you're gonna have Alakazam as a Tricker, you might as well use Hidden Power [ICE]. I suggest this variant since this is your lead Pokemon.
Gengar @ Life Orb / Wide Lens
Trait: Levitate
Nature: Hasty / Timid
EVs: 252 Special Attack / 252 Speed / 4 HP
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast / Focus Punch
- Hypnosis / Will-o-Wisp
Focus Punch scores Blissey switch-ins. I'd still go with Focus Blast. Will-o-wisp is an alternative because of Platinum's Hypnosis Accuracy drop.
Metagross @ Wide Lens
252 Atk, 252 Def, 6 HP
Adamant
- Meteor Mash
- Explosion
- Earthquake
- Magnet Rise
Another pokemon that benefits from Trick Room. Magnet Rise evades Ground moves, which are common. Explosion is a last chance when I've run out of options. Wide Lens allows Meteor Mash to hit more accurately.
It doesn't exactly benefit from Trick Room. 70 Speed stat is still pretty high for Trick Room in my opinion. If we want Trick Room Pokemon, we should be talking Pokemon around 30 speed or below like Slowbro or Bronzong. Metagross with 70 isn't going to cut it. Metagross doesn't have a denting weakness to ground like Aggron does, so don't waste a whole moveslot for Magnet Rise. Metagross still has a pretty high defense stat. Also instead of Magnet Rise, Metagross has a handy priority STAB move called Bullet Punch. It can hit pretty hard with Bullet Punch after STAB and a Choice Band. Pursuit still hits runners who want to switch out like Azelf and Gengar. Thunderpunch hits flying fags that want to escape Earthquake. Choice Band over Wide Lens because it doesn't really have much to increase the Accuracy of, and Metagross wants to hit with all the power it can get. Here's the reccommended set: -
Metagross @ Choice Band
Trait: Clear Body
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 HP / 244 Attack / 16 Defense
- Meteor Mash
- Explosion
- Earthquake
- Thunderpunch / Pursuit / Bulletpunch
Explosion can be tricky to handle, but it's extremely powerful. It does 85% to Skarmory. 0_o
Feraligatr @ Shell Bell
252 Atk, 252 Def, 6 Sp.Def
Adamant
- Dragon Dance
- Ice Punch
- Aqua Tail
- Earthquake
A pokemon that has a wide range of type attacks. Ice Punch can get rid of Grass, Earthquake for Electric, especially with Trick Room in play. Dragon Dance is to be used when I have chance to take risks. Aqua Tail is a powerful move.
Well if you're going to use this guy, I really suggest Gyarados instead. Feraligatr is basically a weaker Gyarados, unless you want to use the Swords Dance variant? That's a difference between the two. Shell Bell should basically just never be used. Not even on very powerful hitters. But anyways, you need the regular sweeper EVs on Adamant / Jolly Nature. Adamant if you're using the Dragon Dance variant, while Jolly if you're using the Swords Dance variant. That's about it. Oh, and Life Orb for some extra sweeping support. Here's the set: -
Feraligatr @ Life Orb
Trait: Torrent
Nature: Adamant / Jolly
EVs: 252 Attack / 252 Speed / 4 HP
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Dragon Dance / Swords Dance
Yeh. Gyarados is better though. :V
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Overall, this team is way too offensively oriented, with Metagross being the only one that can really take a hit where Shuckle is just... Shuckle. :x
