or you could just give gyara wacan berry. it'll reduce damage from electric moves. not that leftovers is a faulty choice, but what's the point when he could get OHKO'd by anything with 80+ atk/spatk, choice scarf and an electric type move? my philosophy: better safe than sorry.

That is a fine option. The other way, though, you can do it, is to have a ground type pokemon, or something with volt absorb or motor drive.

You could always use umbreon, BP a trap against an outmatched pokemon, power up, and sweep away the day. That requires umbreon of course...but if you have one...

the issue with that is most people wouldn't attack a gyarados that obviously. the first thing jolteon does coming into gyara is sets a sub. when gyara switches out, you pass the sub or the agility. if gyara stays in, you zap the idiot. either way, it makes it hard for gyara to just do what it does best.

You can always use roar...it takes away the sub. It's actually the only way I've managed to survive all the jolteons. Roarr is a godly move.

Also not to mention it works wonders when something like, say, SKARMORY comes in and tries to wall you.

wait, so you're saying that you give Gyara DD, Taunt, AND Roar? i'm assuming you give it roar over taunt, but in that instance, anything can come in and burn/paralyze him and stall w/o taunt.

Sounds good, since I'm going to need something to help with the electric type moves.

It's looking like Jolteon might be a problem at the moment then agaisnt Gyarados. I could pull one of my Pokemon and attempt to fill the empty spot in with Electivire, Tyranitar, Cresselia, Snorlax or Regice to take the Thunderbolt, but you can't really counter a fast SubPasser.
