POKéMON BRONZE
I am making a series of fan games using the program RPG Maker XP, in combination with the Pokemon Essentials kit from UPC. I am planning to make 3 separate games, mimicking the standard release of Pokemon games - 2 nearly identical games with the difference of a few Pokemon that are able to be found in the wild, and a 3rd that is mostly the same with a couple of differences. (Seems a little intimidating, but really the second game will simply be copied from the 1st, change the title screen, and certain wild Pokemon, and then its done, while third will be started from repeating that process and then adding a little more story).
These games are entitled Bronze, Steel, and Cobalt (if only mithral was a real metal :P), and the title screens will display Regirock, Registeel, and Regice, respectively. They are set in a new region called Shinnen, and are set 10 to 20 years before RBY/FRLG. I plan on, among other things, having a couple of cameos from young versions of iconic characters, such as Oak, Lance, and the player's rival, Giovanni (I thought it'd been fun to follow the rise of Team Rocket ^_^).

List of Pokemon (just fyi, I already have the sprites I need)
True, I did say that I have all the sprites that I need, but there a couple of GSC sprites that if I'd like revamps for. This isn't urgently needed though, so I can do without if necessary. If a Pokemon has GSC or Yellow sprite that I prefer, then I will put the games name in parentheses next to the Pokemon. Because Yellow sprites are particularly difficult to revamp, I have a backup for those. Any Pokemon that I want the Yellow sprite for, I have also put "or ______". I'd prefer the Yellow sprite, but the other game's works too.

So, since most everything else is taken care of, the main thing that I need help with is constructing the maps. Also, critique on the unique elements of the game (e.g. Pokémon selection via shoe colour), and help on the occasional script bug.

Map
Spoiler:
<see attachments>
Letters denote cities/towns, numbers mark forests, caves, etc. This region is located directly north of Kanto (...or is it Johto... I keep forgetting... the region of RBY).
Italicised regions are ones that I've already made the maps for (as well as the routes in between), but I don't feel that they are very good... Regardless, I'd like to focus first on the ones that aren't done first.
Cities/Towns
A - starting town. couple of houses, including player's house. NO lab.
B - Prof. Juniper's town. Has lab, PokeMart, Pokemon Center, and a couple of other houses.
C - Chestnut City - big major city (something like Goldenrod in GSC, without train). Big PokeMart (but its new, so only the first floor is open until later in the game ;P), also has radio tower/Silph Co.-like building (undecided on exactly which, could be both. obviously, yes this is where Team Rocket takes over, later), Pokemon Center, other buildings and first gym (normal-type Pokemon)
L - ('cause I didn't notice/forgot about it at first... ^_^') small in between town, not much in it, but will welcome ideas
D - Wormwood City - city located on a rocky plateau, next to Mt. Yokai (=Pokemon Tower+Mt. Ember) 2nd gym leader uses ghost-types
E - Pinecrest Town - small city in a tiny valley, gym-leader uses rock-type pokemon + a loudred (yes, I'm doing a lame pun, she's gonna be named after a rock star, that I haven't decided on yet). thinking of putting in something other attraction, but can't think of anything...
F - Beechcliff City - port city (obviously, also name is not a typo), gym leader (young Lance :P) uses flying-types (my game, don't argue), and has an obsession with trying to build a "flying machine" (which won't actually be completed in game, a ship is enough), city also has a harbor, ship will take player to
G - Hollyrime City - snow-covered city, gym leader uses ice-types (of course)
H - Cypress City - city of the Safari Zone, gym leader uses water-type Pokemon
I - Sakura Town - Japan-styled city, gym leader (named Musashi) uses fighting-type Pokemon
J - Yewfield City - possible location of Game Corner, its the best location thematically, its just so late in the game... gym leader uses dark-types
K - Pokemon League - it is what it is... Pokemon types in order of appearance - electric, fire, psychic, dragon
Locations (forgot the names for some of these, will fill in later)
1 - a lake, what more needs being said? shouldn't be very big (explorable area at least, and most of it should only be reachable after the player gets SURF), needs at least one small patch of grass near entrance
2 - forest, to get to left (western) exit, player needs CUT
3 - Mt. Yokai - big mountain, with a decent sized tower at top (tower has 4 or 5 floors, bottom floor being lobby, w/ no wild Pokemon, or grave stones)
4 - tunnel between Chestnut City and Cypress City. needs FLASH, and player shouldn't be able to get through from Chestnut without STRENGTH
5 - tunnel/cave, not much to be said
6 - Ice Cavern - umm... icy... cavern... possibly with volcanic activity deeper in. haven't quite made up my mind on that...
7 - Mytstery Isle - lair of the Unown, breaks up into roughly 4 parts (a 2x2 square) in the map. right (eastern) two squares are unreachable, bottom left (southwestern) square has beach, top left (northwestern) doesn't, but has ruins for Unown to reside in (undecided on particulars of ruins, single/multiple, hole in cliff wall, ruin-like entrance (like FRLG), or possibly even use pyramid...)
8 - Safari Zone - it is what it is
9 - Victory Road - it is not what it is not
Other random notes:
The water route between C (Chestnut City) and J (Yewfield City) needs a waterfall to block travel from C to J.
The north-south part of the route from D (Wormwood City) to 9 (Victory Road) needs watchmen-type people to check for badges (as per RBY/FRLG), and/or sections requiring each HM (other than FLASH, and FLY).
The route between H (Cypress City) and I (Sakura Town) needs to only be fully passable with DIVE.
