An arc that hasn't been touched on since the end of the first season, he is the mastermind of Team Rocket and yet is barely ever shown anymore. I think they should have a rocket story arc where Giovanni uses a dark ball to capture Palkia and Dialga and they become Dark Palkia and Dark Dialga and Ash must not only defeat them, but Giovanni as well. (with the help of May, Misty, Dawn, Brock and other guests cameos... well I guess this idea could be saved for the finale) this should be either the last collection of episodes for DP or Pokemon altogether. Does anybody have any other ideas or think this is a good idea?

I really wish that Jesse and James were more successful,
and that Ash would finally lose to them.

But we can't always have it our way, can we? ^_^

The closest would be Pokemon Special and the Deoxys/FR/LG arc, so try to find those scans. Honestly, the character's arc seemed to have wrapped up after Mewtwo, so I don't expect anything that ambitious, ever. More to the point, I no longer think about him, as he's barely there anymore.

Which is a shame, but them's the breaks.

As the voice actor for Giovanni in the japanese version of the anime passed away, they decided to minimize Giovanni's use in the anime as the voice actors are very popular in Japan, I think.

Ok, but... why would they decide to change his VA in the first place, though? (I mean, they had Miyake Kenta voice him in "Two Degrees of Separation" and I think "Yanyanma! Capture Operation!!") I mean, if they felt that they can't replace his VA, couldn't they come up with some sort of excuse in-universe, like, I don't know, TR getting fired offscreen and they're hunting pikachu out of a sheer force of habit rather than to deliver it to the boss? I mean, it would certainly live up to their rep of not replacing VAs after certain incidents.

Also, I don't see how Giovanni's role was any more significant in AG than it was in DP. I mean, not that I watched AG, but, the only time Giovanni even APPEARED in that series was when he told JJM to go to Hoenn (I don't know if JJM's status report in hoenn took place onscreen or offscreen.). BTW, that's NOT counting the Boss fantasies. if anything, Giovanni has actually been getting MORE appearances in D/P than in AG. I mean, thus far, he has made an appearance in the two episodes I've mentioned.

As much as I'd love to see Mewtwo again, and Giovanni too, it's probably not going to happen and besides, what good is a Rocket cameo if they're always getting beaten?

Actually, he made three additional appearances in AG. The first one was when Homura/Izumi first clashed ("A Three Team Scheme," I think is the title), and the Rockets were demonstrating their new "base" (a kid's room), and were to report to him once completed (yeah, right).

The second time was "Pearls Are a Spoink's Best Friend." There, he threatened the trio that, if they continued to fail, he'd have Butch and Cassidy come in and do the job properly. Which is a joke, given B/C's failures in the Weekly Broadcast System episodes, but I call that "dramatic irony," which it is.

Then, of course, there is his BF appearance ("The Scheme Team"), as a coda to the arc. So, yeah, he appeared four times in AG. So, anyway, there's your Sakaki lesson for the day.

Well, ok, my mistake. As I've said, I haven't really watched much of AG.

Still, if they valued their VA's in Japan, why did they decide to replace his VA anyways? I mean, wouldn't that go against their beliefs? I mean, people claimed that Misty's VA quit so they removed her, and they said the same thing for Gary's VA, but the problem is, why would they need to replace Giovanni's VA? It can't be for the sake of JJM, since they could have just as easily have written them to be fired from Team Rocket, and would now only hunt down Ash's Pikachu just out of a force of habit, in order to cover for Giovanni's absence from the series.

Can somebody please explain this confusion?

Yeah, but if Jessie and James were fired they would have to change clothes, get rid of the motto ect. There would be too much too change. I don't see why the just don't replace the leader of TR and that could be TR Tv Movie/Episode Arc. Where they could need the "twerps" to help them or something.

D: Aww.. I had no idea.
But I do agree that seiyuu are very important in the Japan, and out of respect I can understand why they cut down Giovanni's (Sakaki's) role in the series. I hadn't thought much if his character being away, but a return of him with Dark Balls, and the capturing of Dialga and Palkia might be overkill. Maybe one of them, but not both. And of course Ash would end up saving the day. >>; It would be neat to see though.

Well I think Giovanni would still catch the two, except the one to save the day, or help mostly save the day, should be none other than the dragon trainer lance. And poor old Giovanni's VA :(.

Ahhh... Good old Lance. He was always my favorite character in Generation II.
I just wish his hair wasn't so nerdy in the anime...

I kinda think that the Rocket Arc is over. I mean the Rocket's got there time to shine back in Johto and it seems like the closed it there. I would love more Rocket air time but I think we will not getting that anymore. Espeicially now that Galatic may take a bigger stage.

I am thinking the whole Giovanni VA issue is just that since his Japanese VA is now gone that they are just limiting him to very few appearances even with his new VA.

To tell the truth, if Giovanni has anything to do with the Sinnoh Legendaries then it will feel kinda lame. The best I can see Giovanni and main Team Rocket in this region is a possible team up with Hunter Jay and that is all really.

That's kinda a movie sort of thing. And The only people should really be Ash, Brock and Dawn.

I would like the Rocket Arc to have a proper conclusion. Ash and Giovanni have never even had a face to face confrontation with one another. Sure, Ash has had run-ins with some high ranking Rocket members (Domino, The Iron Masked Marauder, Sebastian, Tyson, etc.), but never with the Boss himself. Unfortunately, I doubt the Rocket Arc will ever have a complete end, as it has not been touched upon since Johto. Because Sakaki's original Japanese voice actor is dead, he will not be receiving much screen-time in the future, either. Voice actors are seen as very important in Japan. Out of respect for Sakaki's old voice actor, the new one will not be getting that much air-time.

I like your idea. It would be cool if the writers made that into a five episode story arc. Personally, I would like to see it aired before Ash battles the Elite Four for the title of Pokemon Master (if that ever happens >_>). It certainly would be an epic set of episodes.
