So, we just had a roleplaying event, so making another shouldn't be too hard, right? WRONG.

Well, not really wrong. We just have to make it a little different than the RPOs. Shouldn't be too hard. We also have to try and make it less writing, more roleplay since there already is a writing event. I was thinking teaming people up, but that was a little disastrous in the RPOs.

I also had the idea of having a Beginner and Advanced category to encourage more people who are not usually writers to join. Of course, then you have troubles of people being too good in the beginner categories, but we can make the decision of bumping them up. I'm not sure about bumping people down though; that may hurt their egos/feelings.

    A nice checklist of things to do;
    • Create a fabulous name [COMPLETE]: PCX Roleplaymania!
    • Create categories [processing]: (2/??)
    • Create rules [incomplete]
    • Create judging criteria [incomplete]
    • Create thread design [processing]
    • Create emblems for each category [processing] (Leaf Storm)
    • SECRET EMBLEMS?!
    • Other prizes?!

If there are any ideas at all, please post!!!!

    PCX Roleplaymania!

Featuring your hosts, Skymin, Raikiri and Leaf Storm!

    Introduction!

The stadium is open! Welcome aboard to PCX ROLEPLAYMANIA, brought to you by yours truly. This event is all about roleplay, and all about using your imagination! This is your chance to let your imagination shine through and let everything go bright! This event is open to ALL skill levels, whether you are a complete noob at roleplaying, just getting started, or you've been doing some RPing at the 'Corner for years and willing to try out some competition. This event is for everyone with a craving for adventure!

    Rules to follow!

    • All PC Global Rules, as well as the Roleplay Corner rules apply.
    • Your posts must have a rating up to T, nothing beyond that. You cannot go beyond violent fighting or kissing.
    • You must meet the minimum word requirement for your post to be eligible for the competition (500 for Beginner Battlers, 550 for Legendary Encounter, 700 for Advanced Battlers)
    • When submitting your post(s), be sure they are in a spoiler tag. We also want to use this thread to discuss the event, so that way we won't be confused as to what you're posting about.
    • As always, have fun! :D

    Categories to Enter!

The event consists of three categories. Beginner's Battle (recommended for people who want to try out a battle, but have little or no roleplaying experience), Advanced Battle (for intermediate to veteran roleplayers) and a Legendary Encounter event (for all skill level roleplayers, whether new or old). You have the option to join either the battling category or the Legendary Encounter category, or do both. If you plan to do the Battling category, you cannot do both skill levels.

    Battle!

Ready for a battle? Sure you are. Time to get all pumped up for a trainer one-on-one battle! If you are willing to "be the best trainer you can be", take on the challenge! Use the SU on the bottom of this subsection to identify the character you'll be using in your post. You have the option to battle with another participant or with a Non-Playable Character (NPC).

This category has two skill levels: Beginner and Advanced. If you have never roleplayed before, it is highly recommended to sign up for the Beginner category. Your post must have at least 500 words for Beginner, 700 words for Advanced.

    Spoiler:

    Legendary Encounter!

This category, open to all skill level roleplayers, is where you put use of your imagination. Put yourself in the trainer's shoes when encountering a majestic legendary Pokemon. Leaf Storm has provided you a full description of your legendary encounter in the spoiler below.

    Spoiler:

Are you ready to do what it takes to battle against a legendary Pokemon? If you are *only* doing the Legendary Encounter, fill out the SU below. You are only required to fill out the name of the Trainer, the personality, and appearance. Leaf Storm will PM you with 3 random Pokemon you will have to use in your roleplay post. Keep in mind that you can use one or all of those Pokemon to weaken the Entei, in order to capture it.

    Spoiler:

Your post must be more than 550 words. Be sure to end your post with the Pokeball shaking on the ground. At the end of the event, the results will be revealed.

My primary intention of suggesting that event was to make it different from the RPO's. xD Buuut yeah. It needs to be different, and doing teams can be disasterous I can agree. xD

I like the beginner/advanced category. We can give both categories a situational event, one easy and one hard. It'd be two different contests, and people would have to compete for the corresponding emblem.

Also, I CALL DIBS ON EMBLEMS. :D I don't really want to do 1st/2nd/3rd for this. Maybe one for Beginner and one for Advanced and another for Participant? Would be fair imo.

That's all I have RIGHT NOW, I'll think of other ideas later on in the day. :)

Yes. It needs to be different than the RPOs, but sadly as one of the founders of that I am a little bare on ideas. A little. Not completely out. Kind of.

    ANYWAY.

I agree with Skymin's advanced and beginner categories and the idea of pushing people up if they are too good. Normally I'd say let's push people down, but I want to be nice.

Teaming up was supposed to emphasize the roleplaying concept in the RPOs, but yeah, it didn't work for whatever reason.

Situational events did seem to be quite popular, so I think that is a good start. Obviously for PCX, it needs to be Pokemon themed. Possibly doing some to an adventure roleplay and running for a week or so to make it less short story and more roleplaying could work. Give participants a chance to interact with each other?

Also for names: Roleplaymania, anyone? Sorry. I got my wrestling flow the other day.

Well, a quick one on one or two on two battle should be a good category. They could maybe sign up with a SUPER BASIC sign up (consisting of their name, their chosen pokemon and perhaps a sentence or two on personality or appearance).

A battling situation sounds perfect to start. We can give them the option to battle with an NPC or with another roleplayer.

So the SU would just be the following:
    Username:
Trainer Name: (they can just pick a random name)
    Personality: (1-2 sentences)
Appearance: (An image or 1-2 sentences)
    Pokemon:

I would just take off the Trainer Name and just have people decide on the name when they start roleplaying, but idk...

As for the name, since it needs to fit the theme, I'd go for PCX Roleplaymania since it's about battling and it's about 10 years on PC, so we can stick with that! :D

Roleplaymania sounds pretty fab to me! I'LL ADD IT TO THE FIRST PAGE.

And I'll also add the beginner and advanced category and etc etc etc.

    Any other category ideas?

Well I am rather limited on categories, I figure I may as well propose some ideas for the other parts of the event.

Rules: I think the standard RP Corner rules should work for the most part, maybe with a few of the RPO rules thrown in for good measure. You know: only original works can be submitted, etc. I'd have to read everything to make sure they outline what I think they outline, but the RPO rules worked pretty well.

Judging: Same thing. I liked the RPO setup and worked pretty well. Might have to more throughly define the criteria for each event though.

As far as categories, do you want to keep Pokemon themed?

^Same, I was thinking of just keeping it to just battling.

Aside from battling with NPC/other RPers, I have an idea for a Pokemon situational event:

A trainer/RPer encounters a legendary Pokemon (it can be any legendary...I'm still thinking whether we'd let them choose the legendary or assign a random), he/she only has five Ultra Balls and three Pokemon (and this is where we assign the Pokemon) and does not have a lot of time, because the legendary can flee any minute.

^short idea is short. I can expand if you like!

I actually like the sound of this idea. I was thinking assigning random ones may be cool and it will give some variety to the judges in terms of reading. Also more flexibility in story since we can have some different build ups leading to the encounter. Situational events were the most popular at the RPOs so we should definitely build up this idea and run with it.

Also, late response is late. School was hell this week xD

Me too. Sounds like a great idea!!

I have uni soon but when I get home, I'll be working on the front page layout. :D

*squee* I'm so glad! I'll provide the full description sometime tomorrow if ya like! That one's just a preview of an idea I've had in mind. :3 Since both of you think "assigning" is the best way to go, then we can stick with that. I think that'll kick the competition up a notch, ya?

Also, I'll be getting started on emblem ideas this week. Since both events are Pokemon themed, I'll be scouring around tumblr the internet for ideas. :D

Here are the first set of emblems done! These are the emblems for the Battling category. Still working on the descriptions!

I had the Legendary ones done, but it turned out I didn't save them >_< I'll have to whip those up later on tonight before I sleep.

Full description of the Legendary Encounter category is in the spoiler. :D

    Spoiler:

One more thing: Are we going to recruit a few judges for the event? :D

its easier for us to recruit judges than to judge XD

i created a small CSS layout. is the legendary one gonna be for both beginner and advanced?

I'm going for one single category for the Legendary portion of the event, it's "all skill levels welcome." ;) Two of the legendary emblems will be worked on by tonight when I get home from school. As for the pokemon, to divert the entries, assigning each of the members random Pokemon would make this event a bit more fun.

So I'll have to use tonight to think of the Pokemon they'd use (at least 8 groups of 3 Pokemon, in case we get a good turnout) Also, I don't really plan to stick with Moltres, but I like the concept of having a fire-type legendary xD

Also, a tip: since I'm using a dark theme, the white text makes it hard to see. D: Change it to color:black; when you get the chance! xD

edit: emblems for the legendary category!

Woo almost time! I know we were a bit crunched with the whole planning process and stuff, so I went ahead and worked on the thread layout! I added the rules, as well as both Battle and Legendary Encounter categories in there as well. As we have little time left :S, tell me what you guys think! Emblems are included in there, so I believe that would be it for now. We need to have the final draft of the thread set up by 23 hours after this post. lmao
