RPG MAKER ON SALE- Which one should I get??

    I noticed today that RMG maker is on sale on steam so I was wondering what version should I get for making pokemon fangames? I remember RPG maker XP being tossed around in the past but seeing that one is fairly old. I was wondering if I should go with one of the newer versions for art and animations or if the older one is just as good in that department since pokemon essentials was made for that one

    To the best of my knowledge, RPG Maker XP is the only RPG Maker that has a framework specifically made for Pokémon fangames (the so called Pokémon Essentials).

    Pokémon Essentials was not ported to newer versions of RPG Maker because, if I'm not mistaken, RPG Maker XP is the last one of the series that uses the Ruby programming language, the newer ones use Javascript, which would require to completely rewrite the whole framework. (Programming inertia is a thing, including in many companies lol).
