Hey guys! I have a problem here. I have downloaded rpg xp from the site (it was on the help & request thread) and i have installed it. When i open it, it says "Error on trial server" or something like that. It also has "nTitles could not be activated" in it. How can I fix this? i think it is the psikey.dll file. If it can't be fix, can tell me at least where to download rm2k3 coz i have been using rm2k the whole time.

    --Thanks

This happened to me too. I want to get started on this game I've been writing, and this is really annoying. The exact error is "Failed to obtain a trial serial number from the nTitles server." If anyone knows what's wrong with it, please help out.

From what I can tell, you have a firewall blocking it. It's trying to access the internet, and it needs to access the internet to install.

so, does that mean everytime i use rpg xp, i need to be connected to the internet? bummer... i don't have net connection. i only use comp shops.

No, what he meant was, for you to receive the trial stuff you need to be online (for obvious reasons). After that, you won't need to be online anymore.

I allowed RPG XP on my firewall, but it doesn't seem to help at all. Just curious though, could it have anything to do with my OS? I mean it is for XP and I'm on vista...

so that means i can just put my rpgxp in my flash disk and then run it on a shop and take it home to use it?

I checked around, and the server you have to connect to goes down sometimes. Looks like you just have to wait for it to come back up. Sorry. (And you'd have to install it everywhere you use it. It uses files in the computer registry, and has to be installed to be used)

ouch! i guess i juz have to install a net connection in my pc... Thanks for the help!

So... I just wouldn't accept that another beloved game of mine wouldn't work on Vista, so I tampered with some settings and gasp... I got it to work. I signed up just to let people know how to get it to work.

Well first I went to C:/Program Files/Enterbrain/RPGXP. If you have it installed in a different folder or drive then go to the RPGXP folder and whatnot. Then,
click right-click properties on the RPGXP.exe file. Go to the compatibility tab, and then click the box that says 'run this application as administrator'. Click apply, then close.

Then you must right click on the file PSIkey.dll and go to properties. Then click the security tab and go to advanced. You'll notice that the Users(pavilion/users) or whatever computer name you may have doesn't say full control. Well... highlight the Users(pavilion/users) and click the edit button. Then in the new window, highlight it again and click edit. In the large permissions list, tick the first box that says 'full control', then click ok.
Be sure that the box that says 'include inheritable permissions from this object's parent' in the window you just returned to is ticked. Click ok, then ok again, and then ok once more and RPGXP shouls work.

I'm assuming that the people with that serial number error have the trial like me. Now, excuse me while I absorb myself into RPGXP for the next 107.25 hours...
